    I really love the trick of constructing sweater out of rectangle. I'm just about to finish the Modern Draped Sweater. I picked slightly smaller size than I wished for so substituted for adding more rows in collar (now it looks like front and back is purposely different pattern, which gives it interest) also added pockets (Which the other tutorial doesn't have) and now I'm here to add different pattern sleeves.
    This tutorial made me addicted to crochetting. This is my second sweater

    Just finished my cardigan & i really like the way it looks. Depending on how tight you crochet you may have to add more rows to make it look like the picture. Also, it will be difficult to complete withour the written pattern which she has posted for free. But if you are a beginner or have trouble reading patterns this may not be for you.

  • @beckysaurus3277
    @beckysaurus3277 5 лет назад

    Ok so I’ve made the sweater with a regular double stitch for 2 rows and a single for 1 because I wanted a warmer less holy sweater. Turned out great. However the batwing style sleeve is a bit restrictive in the range of motion. I dont know if that’s because I made it thicker, or the shape, or both. But It won’t work for me at my job but my friend who has a desk job was more than happy to buy it from me :)

I've gone over the video slowly many times so I'm hoping making some tweaks will help. I don't really understand whether to end rows by crocheting IN turning chains or in the hole/gap.

      Crochet in the hole/gap, not the turning chain. The turning chain is needed to determine the height of the next row and is usually considered a stitch, so if you crochet in the turning chain, your rows are going to look wonky.

    I purchased the pattern, but the yarn is discontinued and I'm using a smaller yarn. Is there a measurement the rectangle should be?

    Overall I've enjoyed this project and you do a good job explaining the stitches. I've gotten to working on my collar after finishing the bulk of the sweater but realize as I'm trying it on that it's waaay shorter in length than it looks like in the sample photo. My guess is that I used a smaller hook than I should have. It looks great but definitely will not fit the intended recipient...

      Hey! I'm sorry it's fitting shorter than you needed it to. If you have any interest (or patience!) to tear out the collar, you could always add additional rows to the main rectangle to make it longer before you move on to the collar. If you haven't already, it might be helpful to measure your gauge and compare it to the pattern just so you can sort of troubleshoot what went wrong so you know for the future. :)

      @@makedocrew1717 thanks! I do plan on remaking this sweater. I added a row along the bottom so it wasn't so snug there. I also realized far too late that I was using a smaller gauged hook than suggested

    Beautiful work!! Just wondering where I'm new at it....what do you think of me doing this sweater in an easier stitch for me?

    • @lhimalcolm24
      @lhimalcolm24 5 лет назад

      I think this sweater could be done with a whole bunch of different kinds of stitches. Just as long as the rectangle you end up with will fit your body shape. Some stitches might hang looser or tighter so it might impact the fit of the sweater.

    Hi thanks for the tutorial... I’m a visual person but I’m trying to learn from just reading patterns anyway I don’t have any weight 5 yarn but I have a new skein of carron one pound... can I just use that yarn and if so do I use the same hook size 10 or I need to user a smaller hook.... thanks in advance

      Hey Michelle, My suggestion would be to try two strands of that yarn held together and to do a little gauge swatch to see if you can get pretty close to the pattern gauge. Doing so will help you know if you need to adjust your hook size smaller or larger. Also, if you really want to use one strand and make a worsted weight sweater, I have a free pattern and video tutorial for a similar cardigan that uses worsted weight yarn. You can google "Make and Do Crew Habitat Cardigan" or search it on RUclips and you should be able to find it. :) Happy crocheting!
