Who’s ready for Mario Kart 8 super deluxe? It comes with all the original content, plus the dlc, AND it stays the same graphics and frame rate as the Wii U version!!!
Although I would like that too, with the poor sales of all of their latest games, and the closing of AlphaDreams, I'm afraid that franchise is as good as dead.
@@tobimisa True, but that game was made by Nintendo and SquareSoft in the 90's. Two companies that are still around making games, although SquareSoft is now Square Enix because those two companies merged. AlphaDream was a first party studio that went defunct, and all of their games post Bowser's Inside Story had worse and worse sales. Before they went bankrupt their final game was a Bowser Inside Story remake, and that game didn't even hit half a million in sales. Imagine for example that Spider-Man 2 for whatever reason bombed and Insomniac Games went defunct. In that hypothetical world we would probably never see a Spider-Man 3. The best we could ever hope for is probably a remake of those games by different company. I believe that the same is true for the Mario and Luigi franchise. That, and unlike the Paper Mario franchise which has had fairly strong sales regardless of the console or the general reception, the sales for the Mario and Luigi games have been dipping since every release post Bowser's Inside Story on the DS.
@@tobimisaand that’s a remake not a new game made by squaresoft. doesn’t really count any more than the halfassed remakes of superstar saga & bowser’s inside story do
Metroid Prime 4, the next Pikmin, and the next Zelda would look absolutely gorgeous with next gen graphics. I can't wait to find out what the next Nintendo console is, and what it's capable of.
I'm so glad someone else is talking about this. It's so incredibly exciting. I remember when the WiiU launched and we finally got to see Nintendo games on par with 360/PS3. My jaw dropped at NintendoLand and later Mario Kart 8 and Pikmin. Even though graphics at that quality had already existed for years on other consoles, it's just so special when it's a Nintendo game. I can't wait to have that same feeling again.
That's what excites me. The jump from Wii to Wii U was absolutely massive, especially since Gamecube level graphics were the staple for over a decade. Because of the art styles of so many of their trade mark franchises, simply transitioning into HD and having high poly counts did wonders for the way games looked. As we've spent time with Switch hardware, though, the flaws have become pretty apparent, and jumping to PS4 Pro level will allow for so much. Especially if the rumors about DLSS are true, potential ray tracing that may actually be more efficient than other places, I'm excited. Like the biggest things here feel like resolution and lighting quality bumps.
@@Cheesehead302I’m most excited about rt. I have a really strong computer that handles Rt pretty decently but seeing what Nintendo could do with it makes me so excited
@@Cheesehead302 yeah. And hopefully this next system is that next big jump. Since Wii U and switch are pretty much the same...so we've been stuck with the same hardware and graphics since 2012 for Nintendo games.
Well, the Wii U itself was a nice Launch into HD as Nintendo picked the _Perfect_ franchise to shine in Mario Kart. But in the end, it was underwhelming as it still was a grounded Home console and lagged behind the much more Powerful PS4. But what really did it for the next console is the Switch of course was _Portable_ and truly groundbreaking. And did more than all the Wii U could do. 💫
For me, I’m excited about the scale of the next Kirby game. The franchise loves their spectacles and imagining the amount of flare they could cram into the game makes me scream. The bosses, the locations and the final boss especially UGH I CANT WAIT
Imagine an open world kirby like amazing mirror, but in 3d and with copy ability upgrades being found/unlocked by completing some sort of challenge (like how beating bosses and doing harder than normal platforming is often rewarded with music and skins in amazing mirror) it could even be vaguely Metroidvania-esque with upgraded copy abilities being required for some things (probably not realistic, but it would be so amazing)
@@Printerpenguin this would be AMAZING ,like they shown us how intricate and rich their world desing can be with forgotten land so a 3D open world game in that style could be BONKERS
Yeah Zelda is definitely what I'm most excited to see, I agree that BOTW and TOTK look really nice artistically but I do really want to see something so jaw-droppingly nice looking. Something like kinda what they were going for with TP except that the GameCube-level graphics were a bit old hat by the time it actually came out.
@@paulj6805 Yeah, my other thought is that they'll remake Link to the Past or Ocarina of Time. TOTK means new fans now know some more basic bits of lore (like the sages and Ganondorf) and old fans would buy either of those games no matter what. But it would be great if they could give us something new.
HAL very quietly got very good at HD during thee star allies era, and its so satisfying seeing their commitment to making kirby games look and feel as good as possible shine through in every generation. i also am so so curious what the AC team does next
Arlo, I just wanted to take a second to express how much I appreciate the effort you put into these videos. Sharing your honest opinions without invalidating other points of view, the jokes, the relaxing yet entertaining pace, are all things that make hearing your thoughts a pleasant time. Thank you!
6:02 "Dropping the ball" *shows a PokeBall being thrown* 18:17 "If you've got enough horse power.." *shows horses* Goddamit this editor never disappoints.
Absolutely agree on the Monolithsoft thing. I am a massive fan of the Xenoblade franchise and I can not wait to see what they are cooking right now. They would definitely make use of better Nintendo hardware.
I had the pleasure of playing Xenoblade 2 after all of its performance patches and whatnot, so I never noticed many problems there but Xenoblade 3 definitely fell into a bit of the same feeling that Arlo mentioned with Zelda at the end: I could tell just how much it was being held back by the switch, mostly in performance though. When I go back and replay it I'm almost certainly going to end up using an emulator just so I can have the better power behind it all.
I'm extremely excited for a next-gen Xenoblade. It is my favorite game series. Xenoblade games are always gorgeous but I feel like Monolithsoft is held back by the hardware limitations of the Switch. I'd love to see what they can do if they could go all out with it more than they already do.
Animal Crossing is definitely on my list. The designs are simple and relatively unchanged over the years compared to many other series, but every new generation release manages to up the ante eacb time. I've been over here thinking "there's no possible way to make Animal Crossing look any better while still keeping its simplicity and whimsy intact, they've reached the ceiling" again and again. and YET.
I’m more excited for the technical improvements. Better and more stable framrates, bigger scopes , more stuff happening on screen at once, that kind of thing. Metroid Prime 4 is an exception though- I’m actually super excited about how mp4 will visually look
Monolith Soft is 100% the developers I want to see flex on the next system the most. With either Xenoblade 4, Xenoblade X port or sequel with enhanced graphics and performance, or a brand new IP from them, it's all just too exciting to imagine with how much they're constantly pushing their tech in R&D. Next to that, Metroid Prime in particular has the potential to be THE mature rated "realistic" franchise of their system, showing off how detailed and high fidelity their graphics can get, and heck, put multiplayer back into Prime 4, like with what Prime 2 had, and Prime Hunters and you have an audience enjoying Nintendo's own take on multiplayer sci-fi shooters with their own spin.
Most interested in the next Pokemon Legends game. The gameplay makes that experience fun, and the graphics (despite how it struggled) had such a style to it that enhanced my overall enjoyment. If they're serious about doing more Legends games afterward, then I would hope the increase in graphics will blow my mind. Heck, I'd love to see a Enhanced edition of Arceus if the new generation can improve it significantly.
Yes exactly ! That game had fantastic art direction, I'm not sure what happened with that in S/V. I'm most hoping that if Legends games keep happening, they keep a sleek and well-defined visual style.
Splatoon 3 already does look great, but i think the boost in power will be especially good for the next Splatoon game's story mode. The environments, especially in 3, are always so grand in scope, so 4 (or whatever the next entry in the series will be) should look phenomenal
If the rumors are true where the next 3d mario game is actually 1 big open world. THAT is something I'm excited to see with how they handle map design.
Bowser's Fury says hi. Nah, but I know where you're going with this, you're hoping for a _setting with character_ like Sunshine or Odyssey, but in true open-world format. Well, consider me on that hype train too 👀
Definitely would like to see Metroid Prime. To me, that's the one game that Nintendo makes that really leans into a realistic graphical style. Although I have noticed in some games Nintendo has gone for a realistic world / cartoon characters approach, so those would benefit as well. I'm thinking that some techniques we might see more of are global illumination, subsurface scattering, and material shaders. Nintendo is already working on making more realistic materials in some recent games, but I think they can go further with better hardware.
People are gonna say F-Zero or Star Fox, but Sin & Punishment could be a jaw-dropper of a game if it got a new entry. It's basically Star Fox without a tacked-on gimmick or Kid Icarus without giving you carpel tunnel syndrome.
@@lol-ih1tl That opinion is old hat sorry, and in this post-Modern day n age where Open worlds (3D of course) have taken gaming by storm on all fronts; you _need_ to hold at least some decent visual fidelity. So, a game like Vagrant Story has amazing ambient and coloured lightning that defined it's visual Style - but sadly the game was also remembered as a blocky, jarring gobbedly-gook of a mess because, of _low poly counts._
I want to see a next gen Pokémon Mystery Dungeon. The artstyle for Rescue Team DX was so good. But I heard somewhere they had to simplify the animations due to framerate issues. I really want to see what they could do with no limitations and there's so much new Pokémon they could build stories around since we haven't had an actual new game in three generations.
@@animalbancho1726 Nintendo fans need to stop being afraid of any art style that is NOT cartoon or Anime. Seriously, get over it. Besides, that's not even what the OP said. A new Zelda can look cartoon-y while still matching RDR2 fidelity and visual spectacle, since it will run on proper PS4 or above level hardware. :)
@@AriesT1the reason why a lot of people love franchises like Zelda, Fire Emblem, Mario, Xenoblade is because of the art styles. You take that away and those franchises will lose some of their identity. Most realistic art styles look kinda off with characters made for cartoony environments. It could work for Metroid tho
Man, imagine a new Wii Sports on the next system. The same art direction as Resort, but with gorgeous, warm lighting and high resolution, all in 60fps. The dream game!
Metroid is awesome. Are you going to play some of the other 2D games on NSO? They have the first four on there (not to assume you’re dumb and ignorant, it’s just in case you don’t know). And BTW Dread is my favorite in the series!
@@Goombearl I’d love to, but I don’t think I’m gonna be paying for it so unfortunately probably not :( I’ll definitely be getting the new ones as they come out though!
I still don't understand how Monolith prevented the Switch from exploding during the Xenoblade 3 finale (those who have played it know how much is going on simultaneously) so yeah, I really want to see them cook on Switch 2.
I want to see what a new Wave Race, 1080, or Pilotwings could look like if they really pushed the graphics for those. But maybe most of all F-Zero in the GX style on modern hardware with all the detail it can handle.
This Arlo video isn't even about a topic that speaks to me a ton, yet even I can see he's risen to another level with this one. Even with how good past videos have been, he's still getting better.
It breaks my heart to hear that you’re not a Xenoblade fan, but I agree. With how nice it already looks, I can’t wait to see more games, or even remakes of X or even XB2, eventually. Another thing that really sticks out to me is Animal Crossing. Seeing the huge jump form New Leaf to New Horizons was absolutely mind blowing for me, and I’m so excited to see how much better they could make it look.
I have always been “eh” on realistic Zelda graphics. I feel like there are a lot of fans who have kept hoping for Twilight Princess 2.0, which feels like the kind of thing Arlo is drawn to in terms of that tech demo. What I have personally really enjoyed is the way BOTW and TOTOK incorporated cel shading graphics into their worlds. So beautiful to me!
While I agree, I wished Zelda showed a bit more.. maturity, next time around. TOTK felt especially dumbed down, with non-stop useless babbling from zainy NPCs and atrocious handholding at times. That's unrelated from the graphics of course, but if Nintendo wanna attempt something fresh after BOTW/TOTK, I'm totally cool with a more "realistic" approach overall, graphics included.
@@thisisfyne I hear you about the handholding. And I thought a lot of characters were unfortunately underwritten. But I have always thought that what makes Nintendo different (and in my tastes preferable) is that they don’t feel the need to make all their games gritty and realistic. I feel like realism is what most of the industry is obsessed by whereas Nintendo is unapologetically more interested in creating toy worlds.
@@ja4039 Oh for sure! Any day I'll praise Nintendo for their unique way of approaching games and putting fun gameplay first, instead of trying to wow people with realistic graphics or worse, jumping on the bandwagon of despicable monetization practices. Their game design and art direction is, and has always been, stellar. But sometimes they take two steps forward and one step back, and their obsession with mandatory gimmicks is quite puzzling. Still, I'm glad they're outside the PS/Xbox discussion and keep doing their own thing!
@@thisisfyne I think the gimmick point is a totally fair one. Sometimes the impetus to innovate is unnecessary. It’s also OK just to stick with what you know and make it better rather than being novel sometimes for its own sake Also, just to be clear, I wouldn’t hate a more realistic Zelda. I just feel like realistic aesthetics dominate in industry. But let’s be honest, I’d be excited by almost anything Zelda would do as long as it was executed well!
I really didn’t think Xenoblade Chronicles was for me since I typically don’t enjoy real-time combat, but omg, it is such a phenomenal game. Just give the definitive edition a shot and worst case scenario you can always drop it!
We've been trying to tell Arlo that. Honestly, it's his loss if he doesn't want to. He gets annoyed when people tell him to play. Xenoblade fans get annoyed telling Arlo to play and he doesn't. So it's best to just be like, whatever. It's his loss. Maybe he'll give it a try out of the blue and does that "Oh my god... I get it..." meme. I don't believe him when he says he's looked into the story and says it's not for him lol. He'd be blown away by Xenoblade 3's story.
I mean, if he feels it's just not his Cup of tea why try and force it onto him? Not everyone has to Like Xenoblade (or a certain game series for that matter!) I think FF16 is _far_ better than any Xenoblade game I've tried but that simply because I prefer hack n slash combat.
@@netweed09 I think it stems from Arlo complaining about Fire Emblem Engage and modern Paper Mario having mediocre stories and saying he wants a game that has good writing with deep characters, and naturally, people pointed him to Xenoblade. Also, outside of boss battles, I found FF16's combat to be so boring and repetitive. Everyone has different tastes. There's just so much depth to Xenoblade combat. Which is precisely why Arlo avoids it.
@@ShallBePurified Well, I wouldn't call it 'depth' so objectively. I mean, its fine as you said: the RTA vs menu driven turn based stuff has always had its divide. But for games like Xeno , it's only 'in depth' if you prefer the menu driven stuff. For arcadey action, FF16s melées are stylish and pretty much what all the Devil May Cry fans wanted too. Plus they have so many variations in your approach.
@@netweed09 The depth comes from the mechanics layering on each other. Combining different equipment for buffs, deciding on which arts to equip and combine, deciding your party composition with their class or Blades, what skills to equip, etc. You can always play the game with the bare minimum and just spam arts. But the depth is there for people who want to maximize damage or doing challenge runs of being under leveled. FF16 only has the Eikon abilities. There isn't much depth and customization beyond that. The weapons and armor are just increase damage or increase defense, and that's it. That's what made it disappointing to me. And the combat isn't as good as Devil May Cry or Bayonetta. DMC fans might like FF16, but Final Fantasy fans may not be DMC fans. There isn't enough RPG for people who like the RPG mechanics of RPGs.
It's something I've been considering, even long before this video. Like, I get that it's a game from 2013. But I just don't see how there could possibly be a jump from what we've currently got. Like, maybe populating more "stuff" on the sides of the tracks? Idk, in terms of like poly counts or whatever, it feels like adding more just wouldn't do much for what they're going for. But idk, would love to be surprised.
They can top it graphically but I am skeptical how Mario Kart 8 can be topped in terms of gameplay and as an overall package. It's such a perfect Mario Kart game. But.. they have to. They can't skate on 8 forever.
I always thought it would be cool to see advanced 3D effects for Pokémon. Imagine a transparent Pokémon made of jelly. Or one with a flame which lights up its body. Or a frog where you can actually see the moisture of its skin. Or a furry one with realistic fur you just want to touch. Or a metallic one with mirror reflections.
I’m most excited to see what monolithsoft make. Because the amount the pushed the switch’s hardware with games they worked on, especially Xenoblade 3 and Tears of the Kingdom, makes me giddy with excitement to see what they could do with a smidge more power.
So yes Luigi's Mansion and Zelda are both on my list for next gen games. But I'd actually love to see a remakes of Paper Mario and SPM using a similar engine to the TTYD remake. Maybe even an Animal Crossing game with gen 8 graphics and some MMO elements added to refresh the series a bit. Of course this is just what I'm hoping for. What Nintendo does will probably be something completely different
Next gen hardware is about 3 things... Getting games to 4k res (or at least solid 1080p although I don't get why 2k isn't more used) secondly 60fps. 30fps no longer cuts it. And thirdly drastically reduced load times. It is no longer about making things just look graphically better. That ceiling has been hit. Those 3 things are now the priority. We are now firmly in the era of diminishing returns folks. Just look at phones and how little they are now improving year on year. On another note... I recently upgraded my coffee bean grinder from a £500 machine to a £1000 model just for what probably equates to a 5% improvement to flavour. That's the world of diminishing returns we now live in.
There is one game series that I'd love to see on a modern system more than anything else and that is: Wave Race. Imagine what this game could look like on modern hardware with all the fancy graphics, HDR, realistic lighting and wave physics! This could be downright magical! Plus, I don't know any other modern water ski game, so it would stand out from the crowd. Also, remember what Animal Crossing New Horizons achieved with it's cozy vibes on a tropical island? Then just imagine how awesome the atmosphere of a modern Wave Race game could be!
Starfox and Yoshi. i know Starfox is basically a dead series, but i can just imagine the realistic space setting and all of the alien planets. Yoshi Has a very playful, cheerful, and happy art style; they could take that even further if they made the first 3d yoshi, i can already imagine looking at all of the beautiful scenery and fruit
I'm still waiting for Nintendo to give us a Star Fox which builds on the technical achievement that was the Katina battle of Star Fox 64. There, you had dozens of hostile and allied fighters in a massive space opera scale dogfight battle. Can you imagine what a next gen Star Fox with an all-range battle like that could look like both aesthetically and in terms of numbers of friends and foes in battle?
1:36 Opening 3:41 Good enough: Mario Kart, Splatoon 4:47 Xenoblade 5:50 Pokémon 7:09 Kirby 8:10 Paper Mario (video recorded before TYD announcement) 9:53 3D Metroid 11:31 Donkey Kong 12:58 Luigi’s Mansion 14:28 Pikmin 15:52 Zelda 18:40 Leave a comment
Most excited to see the next xenoblade, its always been held back, they always have to sacrifice and do many tricks to have their games running on weaker hardware even from 2 to 3 most of the graphical improvements come from micro sacrifices and development tricks that stretch far, it will be insane to see what their actual limits will be once graphics isn’t a huge hurdle they have to fight to overcome. It will be interesting to see what will happen when they no longer have to sacrifice one element of graphics for another
I mean, the games will obviously look better, but trade-offs are still necessary in game development because you have to make a choice what to do with the processing power you have at your disposal.
Reports of the next system having faster loading are true then I think there's a lot they could maybe do with Mario Kart. Like having portals that can warp players between different tracks?
I'd love to see how Star Fox looks in the next gen. Star Fox Zero was largely a disappointment due to the forced game pad integration, but dang if it didn't look pretty!
I feel like on the graph of power vs. Visuals, we've reached a point where some series just feel like theyre at their peak. In which i think theyll venture into a secret z-axis into "stylization". I can already see it in Mario Wonder except they did it simulateously with looking the best/detailed it probably could be while stylizing it to compliment it even further
gosh, kirby's gonna be crazy. as incredible as forgotten land looks, i MUST give mention to return to dreamland deluxe! the obscenely rich detail they give to the environments is staggering, alongside some crazy high quality texture work. all running in 60 fps too! one heck of a far cry from star allies. not to mention, magolor epilogue's final boss fight having those dynamic background events and these just ABSOLUTELY colossal attacks STILL with no framerate drops in sight-next gen kirby is gonna be CRAZY!!!!
Going off the assumption that the next Nintendo console will be on the levels of the PlayStation 4, my top picks would be Zelda, Xenoblade and Super Smash Bros.
It’s a very obscure want, but for the next Nintendo console I’d really want an update for Metroid Prime Remastered. The game is nearly perfect, but at the cost of it looking so great it pushes the Switch to its absolute limit. Because of that beam lighting had to be removed, which was a feature in the original where if you fired your weapon it would illuminate the room around you. Doesn’t seem like a big deal, but it’s definitely noticeable if you played the original. Also the Thermal Visor does not look good at all, it makes the game run at an extremely low resolution and has a ridiculous amount of motion blur in order to maintain performance. They’re not game breaking issues, and I doubt Retro will go back and add these fixes to an old game, but I can dream at least!
Seriously, game is an absolute visual marvel, but the 540p resolution does become apparent if you've played it a lot. I guess this really just ties into the potential idea of backwards compatible titles having next gen patches added to them, like that one leak from a while ago mentioned with the Pokemon games. That game at high resolution would be perfection honestly.
@@Cheesehead302 I can't tell if this is an exaggeration or not, the game runs at 900p in docked mode and 600p in portable mode, with no signs of dynamyc resolution. Or you mean only about the thermal visor?
I’d LOVE to see another Pokémon Snap. New Pokémon Snap is probably the most visually gorgeous Pokémon game we’ve gotten (or maybe it’s Pokken, but both are good!) and I’d love to see just how beautiful the next one could be.
Honestly animal crossing would be insane, New Horizons already looks so good but it'll be great to see how much further they can push it, with all its animations on trees and flowers and the day/night cycle, the water shimmering and furniture textures, a next gen animal Crossing game will look unbelievable
As a Xenoblade fan, I can get your apprehension as they are huge involved games. But based on your recommendation from the promo, you HAVE to at least check out the soundtracks of these games. They are the best Nintendo has, even better than Zelda and I've been a Zelda fan for decades.
I am definitely most looking forward to performance power. Just imagine the kind of mechanics and monsters they can pull off. Hardware can affect gameplay too
Every time a new 3D DK is mentioned my mind get launched into absolute insanity. I really, really, REALLY need another 3D DK. Not just for the graphics but to know Nintendo doesn't hate DK. Also the Prime remaster, as you said, looks absolutely stunning. I absolutely hope it's a Twilight Princess situation where both the new console and the Switch get a version because by god I will not have the money to get a new system just for MP4.
Honestly, the fact that the Wii was "essentially an overclocked GameCube" is probably the best move they could've done at the time. GCN backwards compatibility for almost zero effort, familiarity with the architecture making it slightly less hard for devs to make games, and it let them put effort into the _innovative_ aspect of having a motion-based controls system, to make it be as intuitive and reliable as possible. Of course now, the fact that you can get eye-wateringly-good GWAFFICS GWAFFICS GWAFFICS in the literal palm of your hand... I agree with fuzzy blue muppet man, Nintendo needs to make their games _look as good or better_ than the competition's pretty pixels if they want to maintain their position in the Console Wars.
The one thing I think should be brought up that wasn't, _F-Zero._ If the video was made before the _Thousand Year Door_ announcement, it would have been before _F-Zero 99_ came out, and the fact that that game exists at all is the most significant development in the _F-Zero_ franchise in 20 years, and the thing that gives me the most hope for a new installment. _F-Zero GX_ came out on the Gamecube and looked phenomenal, so I shudder to think what a new _F-Zero_ could look like on powerful hardware.
Honestly yeah, GX on Gamecube still ALMOST looks like a modern game if you upscale the resolution on Dolphin, it's kinda like Prime 1 I guess. The potential for upgrading backgrounds, course effects/layouts, and having it still be blazing fast at 60 fps is super appealing.
Yeah I’m definitely most looking forward to a next gen Zelda game. Personally I think TotK looks amazing (my favorite looking game of the year as well). And if you combine the stellar art style/ art direction with improved hardware, it will be amazing.
I'm most excited to see whatever the next Monolith Soft game looks like on the new system. Monolith Soft is always held back by hardware but are able to make the most of it. What would their game look like when it's finally not being held back by a decade old hardware?
I'd like a Gale of Darkness style Pokémon where they have a much smaller Dex and can put a lot of detail into the Pokémon models since there'd be fewer to make.
Hey Arlo an interesting topic you could talk about is Nintendo's new tournament guidelines and how backwards they are. It's not your regular content, but if anyone knows how backwards Nintendo is, it's you.
I 100% agree with the xenoblade thing. There were so many times playing xenoblade 3 that I though this is beautiful but would be incredible with higher resolution or more detailed textures
I'm excited for Switch 2 to be backwards compatible, and be able to throw more processing power and memory bandwidth at every game, even games that don't even have an update. I just want Bayonetta 3 to play with zero dropped frames.
Those are great picks but I'm also excited for Mario Kart 9 on next gen hardware haha, also I personally would like a smash bros ultimate 4k edition, it might make the most sense to produce considering all of the effort already put into that game
I don't think that Smash Ultimate is going to be re-released because a lot of veterans received changes after Ultimate which means that they'll require new movesets and alternate costumes such as Metroid Dread Samus or Tears of the Kingdom Ganondorf.
A new wave race could be stunning. The extra power would allow for some impressively animated waves and thanks to raytracing reconstruction we could get some amazing reflections in the water. Yes please!
I can’t wait to see, Zelda, xenoblade and fire emblem, like imagine three houses with updated graphics (still love the game btw) I know engage looks really good on switch as well in my opinion but I’m excited to see what’s next!!
I'm looking forward to, not Pokémon, but Pokémon Legends. Legends: Arceus was such a solid step in the right direction, that it made me very excited for the future of the series, Scarlet and Violet notwithstanding. A successor in the Legends series with a graphical upgrade would delight me so.
That would be cool to see, but if it does happen, I'd just hope that it, unlike 3DS Kid Icarus Uprising, can be played left-handed. Given Nintendo's track record, however (Skyward Sword HD, Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime Remaster, Pikmin 3 Deluxe, etc.), Nintendo will likely completely forget that left-handed players exist.
Honestly, since people might be interested now, a new F-Zero with current gen graphics. High detailed vehicles with awesome sci-fi tracks would be an amazing way to show off a new console.
I think a game that you didn't mention that I really want to see in next gen is Fire Emblem, the series took a massive step up from Three houses to Engage from a visual perspective so to I cannot wait to see the next gen FE game
On Xenoblade, specifically 3, i was curious but not enough to invest the time and money on it. I just found it hard too understand the gameplay and story from all the trailers and that direct. Well, one day a full cutscene video autoplayed on youtube and i just continued watching it bit by bit for a week or so. 10 hours into the video i had to stop. I was hooked. I wanted to experience the story and world exploration for myself. Its now one of my top 5 switch games. Its such a shame though that the game is a hard sell initially.
I’d love to see what Platinum does next. While astral chain isn’t my favourite game from them it visually hits the kinds of highs that could be amazing on the next generation hardware.
Even though I doubt it’ll happen, I would love to see Xenoblade Chronicles X “remastered” for the next gen system. Keep the old voice acting and heck I’d even take the old animations, just give it the texture overhaul that Metroid prime got and I’d melt.
I really really want splatoon 4 to reach tf2 levels of visual flare and clarity. More character animation during gameplay, way more detail in those animations, animations playing from a distance (removal of lod decreasing based on distance), and maybe possibly decent online (please no consistent 10-40 frame delays), and maybe possibly 6 v 6 ????????? Maybe???? Editing this comment to say: splatoon 3 consistently has slowdown to 20-26 fps whenever a bad combination of Tenta missles and 8 players at the same time firing stuff onscreen occurs, while tf2 has consistently smooth 16v16 battles with an insane amount of weapon and cosmetic variety. 160 weapons to be exact, plus over a thousand hats with a generous amount of creative options (unusuals, paints). It’s not fair to compare the difference 17 years of development can make to only a over 1year old game, but there were two before it, starting from 2015. Saying tf2 is a low bar is disingenuous, I find it a bar that really hasn’t been matched. I will say that Splatoon wins in places tf2 doesn’t though. Aoe weapons arnt as over dominant as they are in tf2, and verticality is a universally enjoyable mechanic that adds depth to where tf2 only limits it to 4.5 out of the 9 classes (paintable floors and walls opening up said vertical options, which is extremely neat). Plus, and who can forget, there is more than a potted plant in the dev room…
TF2 looks worse than Splatoon 1... Are you talking about those emotes and stuff? That's not a hardware limitation, they could absolutely make the characters do goofy animations during gameplay, but that would only hinder gameplay imo. Everything else like lods and decent online I agree with, but it's not really a fair comparison when we're talking about a 16 year old game running on modern PCs.
my take on Scarlet & Violet graphics is that the games look surprisingly good in indoor areas, so honestly I'd be satisfied if the next game manages to look that way constantly on the open world too
Id love to agree except the nocs and pokemon still suffer from slideshow syndrome. Gimme those interior visuals with proper lighting and shadows and consistent animation framerate andnyouve got whqt the fandom has been asking for for years
The games looking good in indoor areas would've been a lot better if we'd actually been let into most of those 'indoor areas.' Sure the school looked absolutely gorgeous, but this is the first main series Pokemon games where the townsfolk actually lock their freaking doors so you can't walk in to watch their TVs and rummage through their trash, and quite honestly I feel guilty for calling this disappointing but it is what it is.
I'm crying for a 3D donkey kong game. I love DK64 so much, you don't understand. I poured my soul into that game as a kid. Years of my life. I want it I need it.
Some solid choices! I'd be curious how smash bros would look like with next gen graphics. Also, if star fox was brought back it would look insanely good!
Since a roster like Ultimate is basically never happening again, a rebooted smash bros would be able to focus on graphics and animations and personality instead of a ton of characters.
@@toonpik7 Yeah that's true, would be super interesting to see because they'll have to make a way for it to feel fresh and new even though it won't have as many characters.
I also want to see 3D Donkey Kong, but it's hard to imagine it. I keep picturing DK64 2, but it can and should be its own thing. I still want multiple kongs, but not graying out collectibles or gating it off. I like stuff like Chunky carrying boulders, Tiny floating through the air and Lanky handstanding. I do not like Diddy being the one to do it because it's his face on the switch or his color of bananas. Imagine DK64 but every kong can collect everything they can reach, and also no minigames. Every gun switch can be shot by every kong.
I don't have a specific game I'm excited to see. Most their games already look great but just really lack when it comes to resolution and framerate. Alot of their games feel like they're actively fighting the switch. I mostly just wanna see them cleaned up I suppose. In particular Xenoblade and such.
Other than Zelda, I'm excited to see what potential new IPs could come to the new system, splatoon looks so good now and has gotten a firm fan base, so I feel a new IP is bound to come next system and look great
What's sad is that Nintendo developers absolutely hated making Mario Galaxy 2 and were forced into it by the higher ups wanting to make some quick and easy cash. So I don't think anyone at Nintendo is willing to return to the series.
I'm in the same boat. I want a Twilight Princess Zelda, like the one in that demo, but on more powerful hardware running a whole new game on it. I don't even care if it isn't true open world anymore, just give it to me! And Metroid for the same reasons. But most of all, I want another Xenoblade with these cutting edge graphics. I don't care if its open world or not, the game is gonna look stupendous on some level or another and I'm gonna be all here for it
Im really excited to see what fire emblem could look like with a bigger budget and software. With fire emblem engage, a lot of the animations and overall clarity was a lot better than the past games and imagining something even grander with bigger characters and story is something i can only dream of
I'm really excited to see how Fire Emblem looks on a new system. 3H has famously rough looking graphics but Engage stepped up big time and I can't wait to see how the next entry will look. Not just in graphics but animations as well
Weird thing is the characters models still look fine, but that's probably the character design more than anything. But yeah, during the supports, I'm pretty sure the backgrounds are just 2d.
I agree, Arlo. With games like MK8D advancing to MK9 I really don’t expect it to look that much better (than the original levels). Frame rate and art style is a lot more important to me than insane levels of detail. It can be cool but gaming is about fun. Not so much about looking at cool stuff.
Honestly I'm just as excited to see how a lot current Switch games can look and run with next gen patches, games released within the past year especially like Tears of the Kingdom, Pikmin 4, Xenoblade 3 and Bayonetta 3 push the Switch hardware to it's limit so playing them at 60FPS and DLSS'd up to 4K should be pretty spectacular
Running games like Tears of the Kingdom at 60fps would be a bad idea because it would mess up the physics which happens when you try to run 30fps physics-based games at 60fps. A Solid 30fps with little to no dips would be the best choice.
Honestly Nintendo has made some gorgeous games even with the Switch' limitations (one that immediately comes to mind is Luigi's Mansion 3 and even Metroid Dread because of the art design)
They really do. Pikmin 4 looks like a PS4 game in terms of lighting already. Imagine how much more gorgeous they can make games with actual PS4 level power.
@@zackrose6261 They will be able to make much more bigger and impressive adventures on better hardware though. Wouldn't be surprised if the next zelda game is like twice the size of totk and looked as good as horizen or ghost of tsushima
Visually, I'm more excited for smoother frame rates. A lot of big Switch games have a bad habit of chugging, and while I'm used enough to it to not even notice it most of the time, I actually somewhat hate moments when the screen gets less busy, the frame rate picks up and I notice how choppy it just was and is about to again become. Good graphics design can cover for a lot, and Nintendo have that in spades. A smooth 60 FPS? That's something you need programming and power to get.

I had the pleasure of playing Xenoblade 2 after all of its performance patches and whatnot, so I never noticed many problems there but Xenoblade 3 definitely fell into a bit of the same feeling that Arlo mentioned with Zelda at the end:
I could tell just how much it was being held back by the switch, mostly in performance though.

I wish they didn't have to increase the loading times so much to accommodate the graphics.

If they're serious about doing more Legends games afterward, then I would hope the increase in graphics will blow my mind. Heck, I'd love to see a Enhanced edition of Arceus if the new generation can improve it significantly.
Arceus is the only Pokémon game I’ve finished after playing the series off and on from the beginning.

Fun fact: The Prime games aren‘t made by Nintendo, maybe that‘s the reason why they have such a good style.
People are gonna say F-Zero or Star Fox, but Sin & Punishment could be a jaw-dropper of a game if it got a new entry. It's basically Star Fox without a tacked-on gimmick or Kid Icarus without giving you carpel tunnel syndrome.
I want all three of those games to come back!!!!
Sin & Punishment is like the Nintendo version of Panzer Dragoon
F-Zero needs a revival no matter how
It was made by treasure and they haven't made a game in a long while which is quite a shame

Nintendo's Artists are damn wizards with fidelity on limiting hardware. Seeing what they could accomplish with PS4/XboxOne level graphics is exciting
Oh believe me, a game like Metroid Prime 4 is going to demand a lot of hardware power , so the more the Switch 2 can squeeze in the merrier.
You don't need to have high poly counts to create gorgeous visuals. great Lighting and textures are enough to make a game look gorgeous.

I really want to see what they could do with no limitations and there's so much new Pokémon they could build stories around since we haven't had an actual new game in three generations.
Ratchet and Clank 2016 still looks very good so imagine a new Mario game looking even better than that. Or a new Zelda that rivals Red Dead 2
I would be really disappointed if Zelda went in a hyper realistic direction like that
@@animalbancho1726 Nintendo fans need to stop being afraid of any art style that is NOT cartoon or Anime. Seriously, get over it. Besides, that's not even what the OP said.
It’s also OK just to stick with what you know and make it better rather than being novel sometimes for its own sake
Also, just to be clear, I wouldn’t hate a more realistic Zelda. I just feel like realistic aesthetics dominate in industry. But let’s be honest, I’d be excited by almost anything Zelda would do as long as it was executed well!
You started with WW I take it?
Not everyone has to Like Xenoblade (or a certain game series for that matter!)
I think FF16 is _far_ better than any Xenoblade game I've tried but that simply because I prefer hack n slash combat.

The scenery will probably look close to the recent Mario movie, honestly, Mario games are probably getting close to their fullest visual potential

@@Howitchewstofeel5gum With even just ps4 graphics they can make something easily as good looking as horizen zero dawn.
Reports of the next system having faster loading are true then I think there's a lot they could maybe do with Mario Kart. Like having portals that can warp players between different tracks?
That would be insane. 🤩
The Rainbow Cup in Mario Kart Arcade GP did this.
@@lol-ih1tl 'Rainbow a cup' makes me want then to do it with every Rainbow Road mashed together.
@@theshadowdirector that's kinda unlikely. Although that concept can be used to explore different outer space locations in the new Rainbow Road.
I'd love to see how Star Fox looks in the next gen. Star Fox Zero was largely a disappointment due to the forced game pad integration, but dang if it didn't look pretty!
A non-linear, beautiful Star Fox game. Yep, that's going on the list.
@@Leee275 Oops, 900p is what I meant.
For me it's Zelda, Xenoblade, Star Fox, Golden Sun, and Kid Icarus. I want to see all of those with next gen graphic engines behind them.
I was so waiting for you to bring up the Wii U tech demo Zelda. It’s by far the first thing that comes to my mind when talking about graphics.
18:16 "If you've got enough horsepower" while horses are on screen. "If Nintendo throws everything" while Link throws a weapon.
I see you, editor. :D
Yes please!
I want F-Zero GX 2. F-Zero 99 has renewed interest in the series, and a next gen console would make the tracks look eye wateringly stunning.
I can’t wait to see, Zelda, xenoblade and fire emblem, like imagine three houses with updated graphics (still love the game btw) I know engage looks really good on switch as well in my opinion but I’m excited to see what’s next!!
Yeah I would love a new fire emblem game in the style of path of radiance/radiant dawn with updated graphics.
A new uprising style kid Icarus game would be great, the 3ds’ limitations were really felt in levels like the reset bomb forest
@@matthewmuir8884Super Mario 64 DS on the other hand has a left-handed bias with its "Touch mode" control scheme being for left-handed people.
Honestly, since people might be interested now, a new F-Zero with current gen graphics. High detailed vehicles with awesome sci-fi tracks would be an amazing way to show off a new console.
Xenoblade X2 would be so hype on next gen
Yeah, try convincing Arlo of doing this too. Maybe he'll finally understand why everyone tells him to play Xenoblade lol.
I would die for that
I’m already dying from the “proposal” Arlo is offering at the start 😂
Lmao TF2 is your bar? Are you kidding? That’s nearly two decades old
@@BahhBahhBrownSheep And yet it has more detail then most modern games and still has a strong community.
not really in terms of detail... it's not that graphically intensive at all, it's just carried by a great art style really@@Buglin_Burger7878
More detail how? No it doesn't .. like at all. It maybe more charming to you than most games but that's just an opinion.@@Buglin_Burger7878
F-Zero… Star Fox… those are great games that a graphic overhaul would put in the top tier for many people
my take on Scarlet & Violet graphics is that the games look surprisingly good in indoor areas, so honestly I'd be satisfied if the next game manages to look that way constantly on the open world too
Id love to agree except the nocs and pokemon still suffer from slideshow syndrome.
I'm good with the graphics, I just wish ScVi didn't have constant the fps drops, otherwise it would be one of my favorite pokemon games
I just want a proper functioning Pokemon game 🥲
Peole are still in denial I see, those games are fucking garbage 😂😂😂
Other than Zelda, I'm excited to see what potential new IPs could come to the new system, splatoon looks so good now and has gotten a firm fan base, so I feel a new IP is bound to come next system and look great
Thinking about what amazing visuals they could make if they ever make a new super Mario galaxy game makes me so excited.
YESSS
What's sad is that Nintendo developers absolutely hated making Mario Galaxy 2 and were forced into it by the higher ups wanting to make some quick and easy cash. So I don't think anyone at Nintendo is willing to return to the series.
@@wintersong2266 hm I can kind of believe that, people love the game but it doesn't seem like it's very unified.
I hiiiighly doubt that will ever happen (at least not in this upcoming gen), it'll be a new Mario ______
My greatest wish in life is Galaxy 3. 😢
after mario wonder, i'm really excited for another stylised 2D mario! Just imagining wonder's same style but with pretty lighting would be so good!!!
Metroid Prime 4? Yes please!
@@lol-ih1tl I thought it ran fine at 60 on emulators?
@@RJH755 The 60 fps emulator videos don't show the physics bugs.
Honestly Nintendo has made some gorgeous games even with the Switch' limitations (one that immediately comes to mind is Luigi's Mansion 3 and even Metroid Dread because of the art design)
They really do. Pikmin 4 looks like a PS4 game in terms of lighting already. Imagine how much more gorgeous they can make games with actual PS4 level power.
the switch 2 is reportedly on par with the series s along with ai upscaling so... you can probably expect more than a portable ps4@@toonpik7
@@toonpik7 Honestly think Nintendo games shine much better because of the limitations.
agreed @@zackrose6261
