Love the channel and the content. Thanks for taking the time to get the camera in place for the details like the water tube install. Incredibly helpful to all of us with older engines!
you make it look easy. Its all in the know how and the right tools. I see it done on the boat ramp using pliers. They need to watch you. Thanks for sharing and telling us the right goup to use. I admit I forget to run tap thru, Enjoy your summer.,
I've been being my best you lately... I got a 1980 140cv that I tore apart and rebuilt. Using the electronics off of my 1995 90cv. 1995 intake cover. 1980 carbs. 1995 primer solenoid and 1980 bypass port covers with dual nipples. Hopefully getting it back on the boat this week so I can start redressing it with the parts as described and then set up the timing and get her fired up for the first time. I basically have a frankenstein 1995 115cv. I read the smaller carbs idle better but if I use the 1995 90cv carbs which are the 1 3/16 then I'd have to swap over the main jet (67c) and pry have to play with the intermediate and idle air bleeds. The 1980 carbs are the 1 5/16 big boys. I should have sent the 90cv up to you to video it for RUclips. It's been running for the 3 years I've had it with 3 out of 4 cylinders with ring damage. After I broke that 90cv block down, 2 of 4 pistons had no top ring at all and busted up piston crowns. Still ran. Still had compression. These Evinrudes are indestructible.
I had one like it and my customer had put silicone on the top of the water tube and had stopped the flow of water. When I finally found the problem, I had to fix an xacto blade to a long wooden bowl to remove it. People just need to leave these to the professionals! Love ur channel!
I had that happen to me after I changed the water pump it did not pump water so I tuck it back apart then looked it over I was like hmmm so I put it back to tether and it was pulling water just fine what I think I did i put the pump propellers facing the wrong way. So if you ever change your water pump on your outboard motor make sure you have the propellers facing the right way lol in less you what practice taking the lower unit off an on
friend, could you help me with a question about where the oil is drained to change the oil in a Johnson Ocean Runner 225 HP from the year 2000 and also where the new oil is entered?
New to your channel 👍can i ask you a question do you know the difference between a 30 n 35 hp carb , not the plastics top one , on a Johnson people don't know the difference i know
@@BrandonsGarage 🙋for the 30 HP Johnson carb thay drop a pin in the top to restrict gas flow in the tube if you look in the front of the carb you will see it in the bigger tube now if people want a true 35 HP carb can be taken out of the top ware a chrome caps at put the cap back of course. That's what makes it a true 35 carb people don't know this . Did you know
@@BrandonsGarageMy primary question is this, I've purchased two used relay boxes for my twin Johnson 88 SPLs. The relay boxes have an assortment of wires for the gauge, remote tilt switch, primary tilt and tilt sensor. I've looked at the schematic and am slowly unraveling it. I'm wondering if it isn't better to just install new relays and wiring for just the primary and remote tilt and forego the other stuff. I would appreciate your thoughts.
Additionally, the motors did not come with PPT and I've since installed the PPT units (2 wire) and am ready to install both a dash mounted and motor hood mounted switches.
excellent video, you are the only video that explained the water tube properly, thank you

You've seen someone remove their lower and change their water pump on the ramp?!? That would take so long...

Thank you for confirming that aviation Permatex is a suitable substituent. Since that is what i use. 🙂

When I finally do mine I'm going to be so worried the paddles are rotated the correct direction I'm going to check 100 times lol
Where did you reinstall the copper tube? Mine came out as well but I can’t tell where/how to reinstall.

@@BrandonsGarage do you have any parts for an 8 horse, 1988. looking for the air box
@@danamace6540 I do!
How can I purchase a float gauge from you?
Why do you put gasket sealing compound on the threads of the bolts?
I've got a 35 3cyl 1996 it will not work with muffes put it in a barrel pumps great
The water pump key was not installed right. You can see it laying on the plate when the water pump was pulled out.
I think it just fell apart during disassembly. Not much holding it in there from previous install.
hey Brandon are evinrude v4 all the same block i have early model with choke sytem and one with primer

I'm pretty sure they are the same carb

Hopefully it's not a shitty Amazon pump this time... Aaand thankfully not the case 30 seconds in 😅
I would of just put the l/u in a pale & a drill to the spline and see if it pumps their.
It didn't.
I could squeeze the muffs tightly to the lower, and the hose pressure would send water up the tube.
But in a barrel, nothing.
Hello Brandon, are you here in Michigan? Do you have a way to email or number to call you?
Need some advice on an old 73 Johnson 85 hp, if you can.
Brandon, do you entertain questions regarding wiring a PTT on a 1988 Johnson 88 SPL? I can provide an email address. Thank you, Kelly
Sure
Or if you would rather provide me an email address I can start the discussion.
