Here I try to walk you thru every step involved with etching a lightsaber (Flagship in this case)- from the designs to the materials and how you use them.
Just insane the amount of work that goes into the process, which I was curious about. This is off the charts in terms of helping others. I'm always happy for the success of your business because it's earned, but this video could inspire others to take a leap into something they were unsure about and challenge themselves to learn a new skill, and that's something to be truly proud of. I'm thankful for your work, and I hope everyone who watched this video is as well.
What a freaking great video, a truckload of work but as I just bought a huge lot of sabers and parts on ebay I may Just try my hand at it. Thank you so very much for all this invaluable video.
This was awesome! Thanks to you and your wife for taking the time to make it. I'm disabled and would not be able to do this, but I love knowing how it gets done. Very cool!
Soooo good. Thanks for doing this. That’s a tall order to get into but if anyone ever asks why it’s so much they can see and know how much work detail and intricate work it takes. Looks good. Love your work. Keep it up.
By far the best etch tutorial for sabers👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🙌🏾 thank you so much 🙏🏾 I will be watching a few more times, getting some supplies and giving it a go on some test aluminum I’ve got, then subversion hilt and Senza shrouds are getting done🤘🏾!!! Oh!! Sorry Benji’s mom🫶🏾🤣!! And thank you wifey for being a partners partner to make this vid possible🙌🏾👌🏾!!
To answer your question, you absolutely can use acetone in the same way you did the goof off without taking away from the aluminum black. I just tried it this morning and it worked great. Most of your process is the exact same as to what I’ve been doing, but I’d alway do the blackening after removing the resist, and then just fine sanding off the raised areas. I thought about doing it at the same time, like you show here, and, watching you, it looked way easier. It makes the contrast more defined. My old way would be good if you wanted subtle contrast or to also weather the raised portions of the design. Thanks for this.
Great video! Wow. I was completely unaware of the enormous process that went in to doing etching like that but holy cow did it turn out looking incredible! Once I get my new saber(s) and can figure out what route I want to go with them I'd love to have some work done by you. Again, incredible job. Keep up the great work!
Absolutely Awesome!!! Thank you for taking the time to share this. This saber came out beautifully, and the design choice was superb. Well done, as always. MTBWYA!
Thank you for the video! Very interesting process. I had no idea on how this was done, but now I do. The shrouds look killer! Liked the do this with your left hand, and benji’s mom with the nail polish comments😄.
Wow. Jeremy I watched this video and I'm inspired. If I can figure out the computer stuff (which program to use) I think I might try to do this myself. I have an aluminum Flagship done by someone else. I might try the brass one myself or possibly to two other sabers (different projects)
Very nice clear explanation and steady hands on the camera. Very nice video! Ive been waiting for this, you mentioned about this on your videos. learned some new tricks from this. I'm gonna try this method on my brass flagship hope it works as good as the aluminum, bought ferric chloride too, its just sitting there, still gathering confidence to start messing with my hilts lol.
@@Solo_Sabers Oh wow way longer than aluminum, I wouldve been saying "why isnt it working?". Thanks for that info. Makes me feel alot better about etching.
Solid Work! I will have to do this to my flagships now. Will the Copper Sulphate solution etch brass flagships ? Do they sit in the solution for the same duration? How do you dispose of the solution when you are finished ? Again thanks for posting! Etch all the things now!
Absolutely outstanding video very informative and lots of solid information. I would definitely be more confident in trying this now after watching. Have you ever considered selling the premade stencils already printed on blue ?
hey bro, I watched it from beginning to end but I didn't see the use of ferric chloride. My english is not very good , maybe you said something about using it ?
hi! im looking into acid etching (with ferric chloride personally) but i have the Highborne from pach and have no clue how to make any stencil for the shrouds on it, can you detail a bit more in depth how you made yours?
@@MrScorpion132 There are tons of stencil you can look for in the internet. make sure the lines are solid. That should be really good when you print it on the pnp blue. He used Adobe Illustrator for his app if you dont have one, you could look for free apps. You could use paint too i think.
@@DarkAgeSlight i was more referring to how he got a template for the shroud itself so he could fit things onto it, but i ended up finding one way of doing it
@@MrScorpion132 Oh sorry yeah it should be on the thesaberarmory where you buy an empty flagship, the description has a link where you can download the template for the shroud.
nice video my brother! glad you could put that Flagship to good use, looks great. also love that subtle Mrs. Graham reference LOL

You were not kidding about a long video!!! Thank you for taking the time to share how you do this ! Fantastic bro!
You and Lando do terrific work.
I love watching everything you two do.
Thank you for the support!
Very nice job on the video. Extremely thorough. Secret mysteries revealed!

Totally have a new found respect for etched sabers. Never realized how much time and effort goes into the process. Thanks for sharing this!
This is very cool. Going to watch this multiple times. Thanks.
Very impressive process. Thanks for this in depth video.

Thank you for the tip and I will definitely move to acetone for the polish removal. We helped each other today!

thank you ! 😀 can't wait to finish the video ! I hope i'll undersatnd enough to do some on my saber
Thanks for making this tutorial on etching!! I've got some shrouds that I want to etch myself so this will be very helpful. Thanks Jeremy!

Yeah you’re a beast at the sabers my man keep putting in that GREAT WORK 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Awesome video man. So instructive and nicely explained. Loved the tips and all. Please don't stop what you are doing
bro, you are METICULOUS. now wonder all your stuff looks incredible!
Work was especially long after seeing this was posted 😅 time to learn to etch!

Thanks very much for letting us behind the curtain! Hopefully the gatekeepers didn't shun you for spilling the beans lol.
All these techniques i pieces together on my own from various mentioned sources- and this hobby has no room for gstekeeping imho
Another awesome informative video. Love it.
Great, now I have to buy a Flagship to send your way. LOL

Ferric will need about 45 minutes to an hour to sit in the solution with brass- check at 30 minutes

Awesome, thank you for doing this!
I really appreciate you making this video. Could you tell me what size your water bottle is so I can get an idea of the ratio of solids to liquid?
Awesome video! Any changes when etching a brass flagship? Ferric chloride and different soak time?
This is awesome! Thank you so much!!!!
man i need that shroud template
Where did you get the aluminum black and what does the container look like

Thank you- brass etching using ferric chloride and it sits in the solution for around 40 minutes

Thank you! No I try to do something different each time
@Solo_Sabers is it possible to do in different colours?
hey bro, I watched it from beginning to end but I didn't see the use of ferric chloride. My english is not very good , maybe you said something about using it ?
ahh yea you talked, you can use copper or this, but you not use it ' ' today ' '. What is difference between copper and ferric ?
Will this paper work on steel?
Any chance you'd be willing to share the templates you use to know what will fit in the etching locations on the Flagship hilt?
I just made them
What carbon paper do you use or do you have a link?
I mention I use pnp blue
