I'm so glad I found this channel. This is EXACTLY how I want to play this game, watching guides where people optimized their builds like crazy and then just walked around the map spamming square and melting everything was turning me off the game. This stuff is awesome!

@@PooferLlama Number 5 should be a lesson to EVERY PLAYER AND EVERY GAME. I see that people take gaming waaay too seriously and use what everybodey else uses to make the game even less fun. Games are at fault with this like Call of Duty for example were they force their style of gameplay mechanics and classes which makes the game just unfun. And its a heavy meta franchise too. Nioh and Nioh 2 never felt like you needed a meta or just felt like you're playing the same damn game.

Point 5 trivializes all other points, honestly. If you're not enjoying the game, you'll never want to improve. You won't want to approach the game in varied ways. You won't want to understand your mistakes and overcome them. Nioh 2 has been the most liberating game for me. The combat system is second to none, absolutely terrific. I keep point 5 in mind every time I boot up because I am learning and I do get frustrated, a lot. So often, I turn the game off for a few hours and come back stronger than before. Getting pissed off just leads to more mistakes and I don't find myself using all the tools I have available to me. Thank you so much for your efforts explaining this wonderful game! I've learned so much from you and I've used that information to adapt my own playstyle that I find fun and effective.
I dont think ive ever played ANY game that make me wanna play it for 2.5k hours haha (yes i know you said thats divided between nioh 1&2). I MAYBE have like 500hrs between dark souls 1,2,3,bloodbourne, and demon souls combined! And i LOVE those games! And im in no way saying dedicating so many hour to a game is lame, AT ALL. You love what you love

Maybe a little bit of hot take, but I dunno. I think that Nioh series have one of the most refined and balanced battle systems, that also *encourages* players to play variably. I mean... it got everything for it, but people are still thinking that this is some... souls-like or some grindy garbage. Which is totally wrong.
same thing I was thinking when I was playing last night. this game is not a "souls like" game and it's very misleading. Yeah, there are some concepts from those games but this is its own unique game with one of the most complex and polished combat systems I've ever played.
how do you use the continuous ki pulse to doge attacks when you using the tonfa? do you just do the ki pulse follow attack then ki pulse to interrupt it?

Switchglaive is the only weapon that I could fully utilize a proper & cool combos, thanks to switch stances. I play Nioh 2 just for coop, most of the hosts/other visitors just want to kill anything as fast as possible :/
Switchglaive is certainly a fun one. Maybe you could try adding in another weapon to see if you can branch out? It'll take some time but SG is a harder weapon to combo with so I think you could do it without too much trouble. Is it any wonder that you have so many people bizarrely saying they got bored of Nioh games very quickly? For most who say that, I am certain it's because they just follow the same safe, repetitive and one-note meta tactics everyone else uses for entire playthroughs. Of course you'd get bored and burnt out. I'd get bored and burnt out too if I played that way.
I experienced that with Flowing Shadow spam back in Nioh 1. Once I saw fearduude demonstrate the gameplay that I partake in now, I could just never go back. It's added so much replay value and made me fall in love with Nioh all over again!
Hi all. Does anyone know how to click to aim instead of hold? I bonded it to r3 so hard to hold while moving the direction. I want to click to aim and click again to get out of ADS. Thanks all.
My problem is that I lean into a power fantasy heavily when I play. Meaning I dont like switching weapons mid combo, and I also dont like most yokai abilities visually. If my character is supposed to be a holy samurai defending the weak and purifying demon fools, it ruins it for me that I turn into a big ugly demon myself every other attack…
I know this is a year old but how did the ability to turn into a big ugly demon negate a damn "Power Fantasy" in a game literally about fighting demons? 😂😂

Many of sword's cool moves are hidden skills from bosses. You can absolutely make a Ryu Hayabusa like character. I think you'll be happy once you reach DLC 2 :)

Unfortunately, many of the cool abilities are hidden skills from bosses. At your point in the game, here are the following skills you could have received. Imagawa Yoshimoto: Punish the Proud (Dual Swords) & Windswept (Switchglaive) Main Mission 3 Boss: Dragon Fang (Sword), Dragon Claw (Dual Swords), Dragon Horn (Odachi) Side Mission involving choosing a side: Deadly Spiral (Hatchets), Second Wind (Kusarigama), Water Drop (Kusarigama) I can't remember if there are any more. I tried not to spoil anything for ya. There are pleeeenty of hidden skills to farm...which can be a bit painful.

I could listen to people say "Fuck the Meta" all day and never get tired of it. If there's anything the internet brought us I can't stand, it's that. At least the mindset behind it, if nothing else.
69 all stats, not a joke. I typically don't use any buffs from jutsu. If I feel the need, then I may sometimes use Extraction/Rejuvenation as life recovery support.
I have no interest in any of those. My damage is at a sweet spot so I can go all out against enemies. Otherwise, they die way too quickly for my taste. Not a fan of using talismans in general. I have jutsu but I hardly use them. I used quick change scrolls back in Nioh 1 when it felt somewhat necessary. In Nioh 2, I already have significant survival capabilities courtesy of my gear. If I were to use QC scrolls again, then I wouldn't be as engaged with my combat as I could afford to mess up more. Just a personal preference.
how come all the nioh 2 combo videos, you all never run out of ki? do i have to reach a certain level to attain that super minimal ki consumption in order to multiple moves consecutively?
Yeah, long uninterrupted attack chains that look more stylish that anything. Shutting down an enemy is a byproduct of this but isn't necessarily the goal.
Ive played off-meta Nioh since Nioh 1. I dont wanna one shot everything, I wanna beat it to death in a challenging fight. I lose interest when a build locks me into one weapon, and/or makes things too easy/boring
The only thing I "disagree" with is the evasion cancel. I think it's too strong and an exploit. The game was probably designed around normal dodges, so using it feels like it breaks the game unintendedly. Something like that should be part of the base kit or not at all.
@@OtaniNoAsagi No he actually makes practical builds that involve actual fighting. PWAR is the guy who finds every possible exploit the game could have and forces Team Ninja to patch the game 2 weeks later. Usually with nerfs.
I think the only guide im wanting is for how to SURVIVE as ya said. Even now im jsut learning about recovery and its sort of helping but I still think im not building it right. This isnt for me though, its because my friends want to play it co op and the co op in nioh 2 feels punishing as all hell to a new dude like me and apparently them as well :(
Life Drain (Active Skill) helps a ton. It's a starred stat on weapons and helps me out a ton! Life Recovery on Amrita Absorption is really handy and can be tempered on your Chest piece and certain accessories.
@@XonixDerps yeah I’d say if you want to maintain your health then you could use medium armor for more defense and use extraction talisman with life gained on Amrita absorption.
@@darkwraith9064 no they need to add a pvp mode because all this grinding is just pointless when you Reach Dream of the nioh there is no real challenge even in the underworld...its just boring i didn't even bother finshing the underworld floors same enemys again and again and again...There is no challenge and grinding is useless no real foe to try your build on it so why grinding? I want a real player to test my build on him+i feel my 3000 hour playing is lost in vain there is no players to test my skills agenst them im Depressed now:(

If they added PVP to Nioh 2, they would have to pretty much downgrade everything and standardize EVERYTHING just for a hope of making it enjoyable and fair. If they just let everyone go ham with every GS ability and every Yokai ability, you would barely see what is going on the screen. EVERYONE would have elemental familiars. EVERYONE would have either Otakemaru or Nightmare bringer with them. EVERYONE would have sloth on Omyo hit in their builds. Because how could you afford not to? Not having such powerful things with you just makes you dead meat for someone who does. If they decided to bring it in with pre-made builds that were reasoably balanced, it could possibly work. But as far as testing the limits of your 3000 plus hours of under world builds and beyond on a human player is concerned, I dont see it happening. Frankly I hope it doesnt either.

Poofer himself does optimize but not with damage, and he likes that playstyle. He says that it’s a good idea for everyone to go for a playstyle that suits them, and this video isn’t necessarily about just skill, it’s about making fun and flashy combos because many people find that the best part of the game.

I always played with combat in mind.. Stance switching during combat etc... Its boring playing like its a text rpg

You can make anything work, even axe. I tend to pair sword, duals, spear, odachi, tonfa, switchglaive, splitstaff. but it's up to you.

Tip #6: build towards low ki consumption high ki damage
That can help but it's not required. I'll go over some more specifics in a future installment.

Combos are the reason I use dual sword fist,switchglaives and splitstaff
It's crazy what you can do with each weapon. I find Axe/Hatchets an interesting pair to use from time to time.

I mostly focus on the enemy in front of me. I will occasionally glance at my Stances and Ki/Anima levels.

It's usually a combination of proper ki management, reduced ki consumption, and yokai ability use.

Same here. The enemies I find most enjoyable are the ones I find most challenging.
That says a lot for Nioh as a game, and team ninja as a developer. They were able to give both min/maxers and combo fiends a great experience.

How to use tiger sprint i cant and iam unlocked it
Check the Skill Customization tab. You should be able to assign it for the Sword.
Look at Xenoswarm. Weird he wasnt mentioned here.

I think its good to not have a pvp mode. Might be the same as nioh 1 were it was just unbalanced.

@@TheDocbach bro they can just add a skill mode like the first game it was pretty much balanced and fair and i could say the same for the strength mode i played the first nioh pvp for around 1 year and certainly there will not be any proplem with the pvp in nioh 2 if thay only balanced the soul cores or they just could make the players Create there own laws before starting the match

You THINK that he has to optimize. In reality, this group of Nioh cultist never cares about optimization. Xelod93, who also streams, only runs with level 1 weapons in DotN.

@@Azura2910arpg yea iam on the stream all the time I see that but xelod and poofer does not clear depth of the underworld with stone active +9 wich is alright iam just saying to do that u have to be optimize poofer havent even done wotn yet whitegoat does it and is build is solid but still full of skill gameplay
@@shaolinkza7485 he means that you just don’t have to use the skills that are always powerful or go for too much optimization. Poofer himself does optimize but not with damage, and he likes that playstyle. He says that it’s a good idea for everyone to go for a playstyle that suits them, and this video isn’t necessarily about just skill, it’s about making fun and flashy combos because many people find that the best part of the game.

Doing what I can to just have everyone enjoy this game however they'd like.
