      @@rohith542 Great point. Axe doesn't have built in stance switching benefits, sure, but being able to stance switch -> ki pulse -> any defensive option or say changing your stance for a buffered dash attack can go a long way towards managing mobs and positioning

      Meh, most of the time the stance I use depends on whether I fight humans, large yokai or want to FB an enemy. I don't usually switch stances around outside those situations.
      Most of the time I use Sword anyway, which means sets of 2-3 Skills I end up abusing to hell & back. True & through for approach, Iai for flaying humans, Flowing Shadow or Morning Moon to fish for weak points & Sword Rain for flaying yokai as well as Mitsunari memes.

      Switchglave low stance is pretty much useless, mid is plenty fast and the length of the weapon gives you more defensive utility than the stubby little knock-off hunter's cleaver

    Coming from Elden Ring and Sekiro [which I love], I've always wished the movesets for various weapons was a bit more customizable than it is in FromSoft games. Having three distinct movesets per weapon type looks awesome. Guess I'm gonna have to pick this one up.

    I am playing on the PC with the keyboard, and I have noticed that I can also do a Ki pulse by changing stances or weapons. The Ki pulse button (in my case it's F) is called "Change stance" even though it doesn't change my stance. I do that with Z (High), X (Mid), and C (Low). I thought I had to do a Ki pulse by pressing F, and then switch my stance to get the Flux bonus. But that's not necessary.
    For Flash Attack it works a bit different. Changing my weapon does a Ki pulse, but after that I have to press the change weapon button one more time to activate the Flash Attack. In other words, I have to double click the change weapon button (V). But F and then V also works.
    Thank you for all the Nioh 2 Academy videos. They made the game so much more playable and enjoyable for me. If only I can unlearn dodging in mid stance ;)

    • @SCSI1888

      There are ninja's locks inside some missions as guaranteed loot. There's also ninja's locks as some mission rewards. Everytime you use 1 you get 1 ninja point. But if thats too much trouble for you, just start throwing bombs on mobs for absolutely no reason at all. Any bomb and any mob will do. Once you do that the dumb game will think you're gitting gud as a ninja and give you points.

    for all new players, these are the points I wish I knew when starting the game:
    1) avoid the bosses in the first mission until you know the next points;
    2) running is activated when you press and hold the dodge button, it makes combat more fluid and easy for you, lets you bait enemy animations, etc,etc, watch what this guy does in his videos (it consumes a bit of ki per second) (if you go to tutorial you won't get this info and inside control or keyboard settings it doesn't have a configuration that says you can run, it's like.....humm.....it doesn't exist......its....humm.....hidden);
    3) fight normal mobs to get exp to gain levels for your weapon and SAMURAI; samurai is important to level up since you need the "running water skills". it's a must-have. actually, you will need every skill that gets you free ki or ki pulse for most movements you do. and get skills that activate good fighting animations, usually they hurt more than basic attacks and give you better combos.

  • @GiblixStudio
    @GiblixStudio 3 года назад +1

    as addition...there is a lot for new players to focus and practice. It gets overwhelming. So put priority on what to practice.
    Master the Ki pulse first or you might as well not play this game. It is that important to take down enemies and keep the combat flowing
    Switching stances is great and becomes more important the further into the game you get. Except for Yoshitsune in the DLC I imagine most players being able to get through new game without switching stances even once. Then have more time practicing and mastering it during NG+ since that is a "Throw away" difficulty where you can do whatever. Perfect place to try and practice new stuff once again. in NG++ and beyond "stance dancing" becomes more and more important. Enemies are sturdier and last longer. So you need to be more aware of when to attack in high stance for big damage and when to back off in low to manage Ki and evasion.

    • @himi6536
      @himi6536 Год назад

      The official name of the button is cross. Cross, Square, Triangle, Circle. Why would 3 be shapes and 1 be a letter? Many people call it cross for that reason.
      It also helps differentiate because both Xbox and Switch have X buttons.

    • @ethandaley69
      @ethandaley69 Год назад +2

      @Himi Because it looks more like an 'X,' than a cross. At least to my brain. And I've literally never heard or seen it called/referred to as cross. I have, however, heard people refer to "Circle," as "O," which is a letter...so.....?

    • @himi6536
      @himi6536 Год назад

      @@ethandaley69 It looks exactly like a cross. A cross is any two lines that intersect each other and then continue through that intersection.
      The religious version of a cross is but one type of cross. The fact it's equally tall and wide makes it more of a cross than an X. X is taller than it is wide.
      People can also refer to Circle as O if they want, I guess?? But they're wrong to do so. It's circle.

    • @ethandaley69

      But yeah, unless you source me something official about it being called cross I'll have to continue to agree to disagree. Mostly out of principle. I don't care THAT much I was just genuinely blown away as I'd never heard it before.
