    Planning on moving to Lake Conroe but saw on the news that Lake Conroe is closed due to severe flooding in Montgomery County, and some residents with animals were evacuated due to the severe flood. Relocating from out of state. Not certain of homes elevation on Lake Conroe communities, Warden, April Sound, etc. Concerned, but I really like that area. Any feedback will be appreciated! Thank U for the info! 😊

    Flooding! All the more reason to plant a lot of trees- besides their refreshing beauty amongst way too much concrete, they siphon the h2o & clean the air 🌳🌿💚

    With all the concrete poured in the last few years. the next flood will be much worse. Add to that the Mayor and Governor have done almost nothing to prevent another serious flooding event. Also, it happens more then 1/880 years. In the 1970's flood water was almost up to my hips on Main Street and Fannin. First floors of hospitals (Hermann, Methodist, etc) were also flooded. Cars parked in basement garages sustained water damage. Be careful where you buy/build your house. I think the lecturer is correct that you are safer from flooding up north of Houston in The Woodlands and Conroe.

      If you drive around the older areas of Harris and Fort Bend County, you will notice they are built 3-4 feet off the ground. There is a reason for that. Check out an old neighborhood, for example, in Fulshear. You will see what I am talking about.

    I just came across your video and it's really insightful.
    Thanks so much for this.
    I'm looking to move to Texas, Houston to be precise and I got no idea where in Houston I should move in with my family.
    I'm really scared of the flooding and hurricane in Houston as I'm concerned for the safety of my family.
    Any recommendations please?

    • @livinginhtx
      @livinginhtx  6 месяцев назад

      No both should be high and dry from flood
      Tornadoes are rare here, they could happen but I wouldn’t say it’s common

    How about sugar land, and kingwood?

    • @livinginhtx
      @livinginhtx  Год назад +1

      Sugar Land doesn’t flood bad, Kingwood definitely has had flooding issues. However, we have accurate flood maps of the entire city. There are plenty of areas in every suburb that don’t flood.

    I live in Houston and I’ve avoided any flooding. It depends where you live, find out about if your home is flood zone. And the last major flooding was in 2017 during Hurricane Harvey. So it’s not that common.

    Would not move to Kingwood. It is too prone to flooding. Stay to the North & West of FM1960.
