I’ve had a 2003 Neon Srt-4 since 2005. She just hit 20 years old in March of last year and I’ve only had minor issues like knock sensor and turn signal go out on the car.
I have had my SRT-4 for 13 years now and its still one of the most fun cars I have ever owned. And there is nothing worse to a racer than being beat by a NEON!

Nice to see these actually have some track cred. It would be cool to try a 1st gen Neon Coupe. I think they were probably 600ish lbs lighter. The twin cam models were adequately powered.

When dodo kids aren’t messing them up, they’re actually quite reliable. I have a 2003 with 154,000 miles and it still runs like new.
That front windshield cam on the "straight" is SICK! ❤️ it
these were fast when they released, gave alot of cars in this and higher segments a run for their money, the fastest way to drive them around a tight course is to basically brake boost into every corner lol. left foot trail braking constantly while staying on the gas.
Now you NEED to get a good condition Cobalt SS/tc. Original suspension. Rear sway bar. Decent tires that's about it.
And a MINI JCW R56 generation. They're LIGHT and handle great with the right suspension.
That actually looks like a lot of fun.

@@oraclemiata845 back in 2009 I had a chance to get one. Ended up getting an 03 WRX instead that's been fantastic.

pretty surprising the Civic type R had a higher top speed, and higher Gs but a slower overall time??
Cause it ain't no srt4 lol. Still underrated as hell!
I think top speed is to do with braking points. He likely was carrying more speed, later in the super lightweight Civic hatch not for certain on that but I was wondering about it myself lol
May have been an error with the vbox 🤦♂️
@@TheSlipAngle yeah it doesnt quite add up if you crunch the numbers. If the civic actually had a higher top speed and higher G, it should be carrying a higher average speed, having a higher minimum speed and hence a faster lap time.

This car never got the cred, it's truly sad it was only 3yr run. 1lapsrt (real race car) used to regularly pass race z06's. Modern civic type R basically.
Fun story, i also has a 5spd turbo pt cruiser gt (same engine) that i would race and pass hot cars with. But it too was too heavy and fwd, and not as good as the srt.
really depends I suppose if you want to be pulled out of a corner or pushed.......
take the latest civic type r around...

what was the tire and susopension set up
Did you experience the lift off oversteer on this car? Or did the owner seem to quell the issue?

There were a million of these and they all disappeared. Only thing I can guess is they all blew up

Its always a neon until you lose to one, then its an srt4.
