- Gary gets into a foul-mouthed debate with the Network about the existence of humankind.
The World's End (2013) SYNOPSIS: Gary King (Simon Pegg) is an immature 40-year-old who's dying to take another stab at an epic pub-crawl that he last attempted 20 years earlier. He drags his reluctant buddies back to their hometown and sets out for a night of heavy drinking. As they make their way toward their ultimate destination -- the fabled World's End pub -- Gary and his friends attempt to reconcile the past and present. However, the real struggle is for the future when their journey turns into a battle for mankind.

This is the greatest "wtf is this movie suddenly turning into" experience I've ever had.
Pretty sure from dusk till dawn has to be up there
This one and :Cabin in the woods"
both of them I was expecting one thing...... Then ended up going WTF.
This and This Is The End
@@dyslexofficial2798 The end Heaven scene of This is the End was certainly bizarre.
watch downsizing
That final 'F**k it' from Bill Nighy was just brilliant.
You can practically hear him walking away from the mic
I had no idea Bill Nighty was voicing the Network.
You almost never hear him swear except for one time here
I love how three guys drunk out of their minds manage to pick apart the Networks whole process in a matter of minutes
It is about the "systemic anomaly" issue described in matrix when Neo meets the Architect. Conceptually can be seen as Christ the saviour, or is it too much?
You and the commenter beneath have clearly never had to fix a pipe and been friednds with alcoholics

Gary: “There’s more than one Gary King!”
The Network: “But you said-“
Gary: “I FUCKIN’ KNOW WHAT I FUCKIN’ SAID!”
Loved the delivery of that line! 🤣🤣
@@reecethe yeah, me too. I couldn’t stop laughing for 2 minutes the first time I heard that.

Gary King is the best!
The quote _"We wanna be free, to do what we wanna do!"_ is taken from the 1966 biker movie 'The Wild Angels' with Peter Fonda and was famously sampled in a 90's track called 'Loaded' by the band Primal Scream.
Thankssss!
“You mean a few hundred thousand turned to faaaarrrckin compost!”
Greatest most inspiring speech ever!
I just got a cornetto ad

What about China?
I guess I can see that except how is Steven Russia?
Then who is the Network?

One of the best lines in the film
I love that the Network caught their accent at the end as opposed to usually speaking in a lofty tone
It was putting on its "telephone voice". At the end it got sick of the whole thing and its real voice came through XD
I love that the final battle is entirely verbal. Perfect movie.
Verbal and fucking HAMMERED 😂😂😅
he does decapitate a robot clone of himself
Before there was Doctor Strange, there was Gary King: the hero who made the villain rage quit.
He didn’t just make the Network ragequit, he gave them depression so bad that that they just gave up and killed themselves. Would explain why their Blank children were aimless and lost after the whole world regressed to the dark ages if you think about it for a minute
@@littleaqua32 I think the network mainly realised that it's pointless to try and convert earth. On other planets they probably only had to convert 50% of the population to get the rest to fit in. On earth they only found 2 people in all of Newton haven that fit their criteria. Kind of defeats the point of integrating earth into an intergalactic society if only the extreme outliers can stay
@@stefschouwenaars9562 Yeah. The Network isn't actually cruel. Can't very well say you are integrating then Human race when you effectively need to exterminate them to bring them into the fold. The decision at the end seems to be to quarantine Humanity.
@@littleaqua32 Did they? I'm pretty sure they just left Earth and took all the knowledge and electricity with them, and that's why in the end everything is back to the "middle ages".
Network not only rage quit, it DDoS-ed the Earth in a temper tantrum.
"To err is human! So ... err ... "
One of my favourite lines in this movie
my favourite line from the entire cornetto trilogy
“There are no losers” liars, pretty sure the people replaced against their wills were definitely the losers
and also to the thousands of planets within the Intergalactic Community who went through the same thing (I doubt Earth is the only planet that had people replaced with androids.)
We both have mha pics, epic
well, no. they won. they didn't want to live in this system, for them being left alive while the system was implemented would be bad, no
That’s the point, it’s a hypocritical system that doesn’t really work.
@@georgsgrants9925 it's more just, they want to live their way, on their own terms. They were denied that by the network, hence they were the losers.

"Baaaaasil!!!"

That is exacly how drunk friends greet eachother
Basil knew the score before the game even really started. Someone get that man a pint of the good stuff AND the craziest crazy-straw money can buy, with which to drink it!
"To err is human!!! So, errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" - Gary King
A lot of actors who come across as naturally intelligent have a hard time believably playing someone who's kinda thick. Simon Pegg does not have that problem, and it's an unsung amazing thing. Watch this and Hot Fuzz back to back, and my God does he transform himself. Not in a Daniel Day Lewis kinda way. In a subtler way.
Simon , writing // acting , yeah , he's the man.
Hopefully he continues making awesome movies for the next 20 years , only time will tell.

It's so true for people of a certain age 😂
Think soms of us may initially have embraced and marveled at all this tech as it developed, but most of us realise what we've lost in the process.
This scene alone pushed this movie from a 9/10 to a 10/10
"It's pointless arguing with you isn't it?" An all-powerful all-knowing being just now figured that out?
"How many people did you have to turn to make this work?" "That is irrelevant" WTF?
Sounds a bit like Soviet Russia when the collapse came
"How many have died to the point that a bullet in the head is a luxury?"
"That's irrelevant"

You've really got to question how intelligent and great a power the Network is, when it just got defeated in both combat and logic by three drunk humans.
Thats the point. It is to intelligent and rational to comprehend three drunk humans
All they did was basically yell at it. That hardly counts as a defeat

Davis Bass well said
Proud ? Go watch a human being decapitating another human being, go see how many are raped each day, go see how many die of starvation outside of your house on the streets, how many brutally beat another human being to the death just because of a bar fight or less than that.
Proud ? This bullshit of "i'm human and i'm not perfect" is the most stupid retard excuse to keep doing the same dumb shit over and over again, and people who are proud of that should not be allowed to be called human.
Proud... fucking kidding me ?
Gary spits in the face of inevitability and actually *wins,* and that carries over into the message that messy freedom is preferable to ordered authoritarianism. This is also Gary finally accepting that he has problems by saying "I ain't perfect!" (after Andy repeatedly points out angrily that "You're never wrong") as well as rejecting the allure of his youth (something he's been chasing for the entire film) by symbolically destroying his de-aged doppelganger. It's a twin victory. (Of course, it's not *quite* that simple, since the rest of the film is about the complex fallout from this triumph.)
@@youknowwho257 are you serious?
@@youknowwho257 It seems to me you are watching too much TV/gruesome internet videos. Yes is shiet going on in every part of the world, but not nearly enough to neglect everything that is good. Just take a moment and do small research... how many people it takes to produce every piece of convenience you are enjoying at this moment... so many people bring food to the table of their families by doing so.
The lens through which you view the world is very much focused on the bottom of the barrel of the humankind, and if someone goes to act out upon your views/beliefs, it will only go to worse... and if you are not acting according to your beliefs/views than I advise some soul searching/exploration.
"The Network has been experiencing some difficulties"

What I like is that the Network previously says that there's no room for imperfection and later it says that the system has been facing some difficulties. Not so perfect, eh?

Just rewatched the movie. The part where the Network said "You're just two men. Two drunk men", and then Steve came in "Three drunk men!", is somehow much funnier to me now, Idk why.
4:39 to to 4:54 pretty much sums up the meaning of life
God I love this scene. Most climactic scenes are extremely crucial for any movie, but every now and then you get a gem like this that somehow eclipses the foundation of the rest of the movie while simultaneously giving it more merit. It's the ringer with the heart of gold, almost too good to be true!
I will show this movie to my kids and grandkids one day, as long as it doesn't end up on a blacklist for it's promotion of dissent...
Seriously, If the Network would have been just a tad more patient, say another 10 years or so, it likely would have had it's way with the lazy, coddled, acquiescent people that are starting to take over the world.
I didn't mean I would OBEY a blacklist. But thank you for bringing that to my attention. I just started a hardcopy library for my favorite movies so I don't have to rely on streaming for the rest of my life.
