6:27 Gary: “There’s more than one Gary King.”
The Network: “But you said-“
Gary: “I FUCKING KNOW WHAT I FUCKING SAID!”
My favourite subtle joke in the whole sequence is when Gary says "To err is human, so... errrrrr." And then gives a victorious sort of shrug like he just made his point. Knowing how Edgar Wright writes his dialogue I'm sure it's an intentional joke but it's just SO understated that it has me wondering if I'm just looking at more things to laugh at.
@@geneparmesan8748 no, it’s a pretty obvious bit and use of dialogue vs you’re so clever
I love that the human race managed to not only anger a *machine,* but literally make it sound depressed as it gives up at the futility
Ummmm, yeah. I mean, that’s kinda the point of this plot vehicle and a reason why this film is so funny.
I was an extra in this scene - there was quite a bit more that was shot. This bit was filmed in a sewage pumping station in London. I can’t remember how many days it took.
Cool. Tell us more. Like, what else was shot?
@@asturianix9820 just after Gary King says “I was so beautiful”, there was another line: “I’d f**k me!” I guess they edited that line out as being too complex for the American audience/rating system. There was a more involved escape sequence that was handled by the 1st AD, and some extra bits of destruction. I was right next the guy who got hit by a breakaway piece of set, and I had to lean over the edge over the guard rail - I had no idea if it could take my weight.
That's awesome, as an artist it would be a dream to collaborate with Edgar Wright, plus Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.
@@rakondite What do you mean by too complex?
@@Yeomannn More dialogue and action. The bit that really stood out was a line that followed “I was so beautiful!”, the line that follows was “I’d f*** me!”, which was cut - presumably because it was considered too crude. There were more explosions and blanks hanging off the balcony. The stuntman next to me had a fall away bit of sit hit him, and I had to drop and lean/drape over a railing. Lots of fun. Cold, but fun.
“I am, but I don’t know for how long”
“BASIL!!”
I love David Bradley 😂
This scene was hilariously good. It was quite literally three drunk men vs. An incompetent invasion lol 😂🤣😅
This scene is a parody of the scene in Wizard of Oz where Dorothy and her friends meet the Wizard. Every time i watch this scene i go like "I am The Network, The Great and Powerful"
You mean the three musketeers
I lost it when Gary screamed "I FUCKING KNOW WHAT I FUCKING SAID!" 🤣
I love how they beat the big bad by annoying them to the point where they can't stand earth anymore and leaves. Brilliant writing!
The most British way to defeat a villain
5:28 "I am...though I don't know for how long..."
"BASILLLL!"
"SHH!"
XD! David Bradley was hilarious in this one.
This movie was a masterpiece. Started off as a goofy buddy comedy film and turned into a brilliant sci-fi film.
"Yeah.... fuck it."
Best bit 🤣 hearing a powerful alien lifeform so resigned after a single conversation with drunks...
the way gary screames "MULCHED!?" with such raw horror is absolutely incredible
It's the delayed 😮 before the reaction.
You mean a few hundred thousand turned to *FUCKING COMPOST!?!?*
The absolute giddyness of Gary's "Shutup!" brings a smile to my face every time
6:52 is the most accurate description of what it means to be human
Love this scene. Gary King shows them who's King.
I just love their response at 6:34
I love this movie. It's like two movies in one. Amazing actors with great chemistry. Love the soundtrack as well.
Something hilarious to consider about this scene is the fact the network thinks Gary is actually the king of humanity 😂😂
He doesn't. His name is just Gary King, and he is referred as "Of the humans" to imply to which species he belongs.
Yet ironically enough, it does sound as he is the king of humanity for representing everything that we are as a civilization: Flawed, self destructive, full of regrets, yet free and with a strong spirit.
@@asturianix9820You’re correcto. Absolutely missed that. Still unbelievable the network took the opinion of three drunk men seriously lol
@@homeslice2825 Remember that there were way more problems in all of the insertion points (there is more than one Gary King). This was just the straw that broke the camel's back.
Those 3 guys were drunk, yet for that reason they were very honest, and bring good points about at harsh truth that the Network had refused to accept so far.
Its a drunk argument taken to a galactic level.
As Gary stated before "the feeling I could take on the whole universe".
@@homeslice2825 To be fair, I think you're deliberately supposed to be able to read it both ways.
It's some damn clever wordplay.
well he still just be king over an handful of remaining humans in new haven.
=\ meh
Aaron Sorkin once wrote: "Never argue with a drunk or a fool." The aliens did both, and so they lost.
What show/movie of his was that from?
Notice the sign The End is Nigh in the bar before they meet The Network? The Network was voiced by Bill Nighy !
Wait the Bill nighy the science guy?
@@Takaichi666- Bill Bill Bill Bill ! Science rules !
@@treshmiranda699 I LOVE THAT GUY!!!
@@Takaichi666- No, Bill Nighy the British actor, star of hundreds of films, TV shows and theatrical productions. He was in all three of the 'Cornetto Trilogy' movies: as Shaun's stepfather in SoTD, and as the most senior of the police higher-ups in Hot Fuzz.
Now that is one way to deal with an alien
I always thought this would've been a solid argument against Q in Next Generation. Picard (who I love, don't get me wrong) was all "Morality! We can be better!" And I always thought "More to the point, why don't you mind your own effing business, Karen?"
I love how happy they all are when Basil appears
Newton-Haven
Force-Utopia... fitting..
6:28, 6:32
I love these bits
1:09 I am the network, the great and powerful. This whole scene reminds me of Wizard of Oz when Dorothy, Toto, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion meet the Wizard.
When you realize Phillip is the Alien Leader!
Awesome movie
Say what now? You’re joking right?
@@dixienormus6941 no
Best of the trilogy in my opinion.
“Intergalactic arsehole” 😎😎🏴
Best scene in the whole thing!
The bit at 6:07 makes me laugh so much
One of the funniest scenes ever 😂
The Worlds End is my favourite of the Cornetto trilogy.
Shaun of the dead and Gary king of the human.
Nicholas Angel of Sand-ford Police Force
Stop fu**in starbuckin us man!🤣
Love their response at 6:34
"who here is human?!"
only an handful humans respond.
what is "star bucking"?
maybe next time the network will send Dyleks from Dr. Who universe.
Have you seen the film in full? All the other people have been replaced by robots which look like them. Starbucking is the replacement of something individual by something generic (as in local independent coffee shops being squeezed out by Starbucks). He may have meant the pubs which had lost their character become the basically same, or literally the people themselves being turned into robots.
@@RW-nr6bhhe basically meant The Network was Starbucking Earth, they were going to make us just another link in their chain and take away our individuality as a planet in favour of being like everyone else in the universe
They reference it a few times over the course of the film.
I love this movie so much it's absolutely brilliant. But has anyone else noticed that the young Gary King is slightly taller than Gary King Prime? Lol
Hilarious!!!
The end speech basically the best speech ever
tho I don't agree with most of the System's methods: like mulching human beings.
but I do agree on some level: the System acts like a mature adult, but often forgets it's compassion for living beings.
but the one thing I do agree with completely, most of humanity consists of people who're physically adults, but mentally still children.
and the sad part is, that it's that kind of childish adults that have the power to change/control the world.
while the mentally mature people are powerless to do anything about it.
this powerlessness it eats at you, so I gave up, to prevent myself from losing it and it helped focus on myself, improving myself and living with my flaws.
Buck Flynn And The First Doctor Vs Blackbeard
4:35 💀
It's crazy how I don't recognise Bill Nighy's voice until he's swearing.
Yeah what happened to the empties... I TOLD YOU NOT TO ASK THAT!
2:17
6:30 JUST MAKE HIM ANSWER
3:04
Simon Pegg would make a great Jack Sparrow in a Pirates remake. Or even a sequel series. Oh, and Disney owes Johnny Depp an apology.
AI IS GOING TO DESTROY FHE WORLD!!!
How we’re treating AI:
Like three drunk fools?
Legoland🤣🤣🤣🤣
That’s not quite what I was thinking of…. But thanks anyway
This film has only become funnier and more prescient post-Brexit
Doctor who should be more like this
flugh it
Mr bond snitch daddy
The Network did nothing wrong.
Apart from turn people into fucking compost
they simply saved their memories as an save point. in case of global pandemic, the difficult part was probably getting johnny mnemomic to be courier to deliver that data uncorrupted in true format to the network
So you want to live in cyber slavery.
@@justinambru8529 pretty sure nobody wants the job of selling oranges at the freeway off ramp. the blanks can have THAT job.
They mulched thousands of people including children
Love the movie but this is the worst scene in it I think. It just feels like it goes on for way too long.
its the climax it's ment to be a long bit
I disagree. It goes on just long enough. Gary starts of sort of floundering as the Network methodically explains it's goals and modus operandi, but he is defiant. Andy gets in on things and starts providing more precise criticism of the Networks plans. All three of them being drunk and belligerent throws the Network off its game and makes it flustered. The music builds while at first it seems like the group is just raging against an impossible to defeat foe but as they actually start winning the argument the music building represents them winning the argument. Ultimately the Network could bring Humanity into the Galactic Community, but only technically. The vast majority of Humanity would be mulched, as demonstrated by the three drunken and defiant fools the Network is currently arguing against. Seeing as that goes against the entire point of what the Network is trying to do it gives up, and the Three Musketeers win.
CDC: "People need to to take the shot, because it will keep them safe and help society. I'm sure no one will object to that."
Unpaid intern in the back of the room: "um... can I play you all a movie scene first?"
The ending was such a letdown
Aw cmon it was funny
Aw cmon it was funny
Aw cmon it was funny
Aw cmon it was funny
Aw cmon it was funny
What crap.
no u
How?
7:03 RUclips, listen up!! Stop throttling Free Speech
I’ve just noticed after all these years the pause after he says “you have made your choice Gary, king of the humans” the network literally thinks Garry is the king of earth lol
Though at first he says "Gary King, of the humans". I like to think the second time, it's interpreting Gary as having claimed the right to represent Earth. (Though it later insists he doesn't have that right -- "Two DRUNK men!" -- so maybe not?)
