- The destruction of Newton Haven has triggered a worldwide electromagnetic pulse that destroyed all the electrical power on Earth, sending humanity back to the Dark Ages.
The World's End (2013) SYNOPSIS: Gary King (Simon Pegg) is an immature 40-year-old who's dying to take another stab at an epic pub-crawl that he last attempted 20 years earlier. He drags his reluctant buddies back to their hometown and sets out for a night of heavy drinking. As they make their way toward their ultimate destination -- the fabled World's End pub -- Gary and his friends attempt to reconcile the past and present. However, the real struggle is for the future when their journey turns into a battle for mankind.

Gary finally shaved! Meaning he can be trusted around razors again 🤗 good for him.
The claymore implies that too :p
i legitimately never thought about that wow this movie has got layers
But also in a post apocalyptic world who's gonna stop him
Oh my god that's such a good detail
Stop. No, it does not
I love that it ends this way, the heroes just fucked everything up. Don't normally see that.
I agree it's a nice change to a heroes ending and it's also realistic since not every hero story will end the way they want it
fieldy409 technically the guys didn’t. The robot/aliens did.

Love that moment
Me? They call me the king!
Ik it was a great line delivery especially when their eyes light up
And just like that, they are back to square one.
And it was foreshadowed in the opening of the movie. How cool is that.
Gary in a Circle with other people talking about the days when he was young and Andy in circle with other people talking about what happened when the world came to an “end” without technology
Let’s just hope they manage to stay alive after that fight
Yo the final scene is fucking insane. The unison of the "robots"
A post-apocalyptic world where nearly all technology is gone and humans struggle to co-exist with now sentient synthetic humans that were unintentionally responsible for the world ending in the first place? Someone needs to pick up this concept and make either a TV or book series about it! I don’t care if it’s a comedy or a drama. This concept has serious potential!
I got a fucking Cornetto ad.
Glorious.
Then in the post credit scene it was all a nightmare of someone who sells NFTs for a living
Did I miss the ending when I watched the movie originally cuz I don't remember ending like this
I think it was an end credits bit
@@Thurgosh_OG No, that's just how it ends
This movie was the perfect end to the Cornetto trilogy.
The film that got me into Sisters of Mercy-This Corrosion
Also the big guy who says "Blank b*******" was the second zombie Shaun encounters in Shaun of the Dead and who they throw records at.
Oh so he with the younger version of his friends.. i thought he with his alternates younger version of him
kinda thought, the network arrived (at least in Newton Haven) in the early 90s, and wiped out all the technology in 2012. There would be enough people who know their way around the pre-1990s tech, they could probably get an older car working, something like the beast.
It’s actually kind of weird seeing Simon Pegg act sober and clean shaven after watching him for an hour and a half being neither.
"What the fuck does WTF stand for?!"
I wonder how new blanks are getting made

Van horn in a nutshell lol
They should've done a follow up

Wow was this scene in the original or is it an extra scene? Dont remember this at all lol
found it weird how gary king had no beard in the end
Nah they should make a spin off of the post apocalyptic world
5:00-5:26 It's just like what Andy said to Gary: "Walk into a pub after a rugby match and order a tap water in a bar packed full of big ugly bastards wearing war paint"
"That, my friend, takes confidence. I'm talking balls."

I think your'e in luck. Do a search for the world's end fanfiction, i checked and there is some there that may fit the bill. Looks like there are some Gary King fans with a literary knack out there. Is amazing how much fanfiction is out there, even a full continuation of Battlestar Galactica beyond the last episode.
They're outnumbered 5 to one by armed angry men in a small room.
He probably got bashed and hacked to bits moments later, even if they were lucky/good enough to take most of the bar with them.
Nick wow you clearly missed the entire point of the film
You now at least have a continuation of Shaun of the dead. ruclips.net/video/DSFrRnPNIPw/видео.html
I like how despite it being the end of the world, everyone is happier than they've ever been.
He is telling the story to the kids the wrapping of food part just show he’s full of it and is just lying
Consider how many people died in the collapse
"They call me the King."
This has been Simon Pegg's greatest role to date.
The best is shaun form shaun of the dead
@@yngczr3005 Everyone has a preference. I thought Gary was his best character, but Hot Fuzz was the best film out of the trilogy.
@@jordanverbeek5121 Ok
The Cornetto trilogy would always be his best work
Jordan Verbeek I was gonna say he was phenomenal in hot fuzz
5:24 Gary asked for water not beer, he grew, character development
Pretty sure the joke is that there's no more beer, so water replaced it as the pub drink
Yeah, he's an alcoholic, on the wagon, no more beer.
Why is that growth?
@@keili1212 it implies growth
@@MidgeCat almost everyone in that pub had a beer
Gary King - "The man who never wanted to grow up".
He’s basically a human blank (Not a robot version) so the young versions of his friends who are robot blanks who don’t grow up too they just stay young. Just like Gary wanted to stay like how he was back in 1990
And he never really did.

@@Skindrift💀
All three of the "Cornetto Trilogy" are well-made films, that simultaneously serve as love letters to their genres, while enthusiastically taking the piss out of them. Modern cinema definitely has lessons to learn from them, as while they make use of the well-used tropes, they use them in original ways.
My thought is, I wonder if it'd be possible to see a world in which the consequences of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and World's End could all occur in the same continuity, and what kind of insanity would result.
I guess it be a bit difficult but... I can see the zombies resurgence as a nuisance, sanford becomes the uk equivalent of a western town and the blanks... idk
What about paul
no you dont understand, these are all three parallel dimensions playing out together, you have to watch all three films together at once to see it
What if the cult from hot fuzz is the early version of the aliens and then thats why they dont die and then worlds end happens and after world ends they rebuild civilisation and the aliens realease the zombie virus so that the imperfect humans can be elimiated
SOTD appears as a DVD in Hot Fuzz so they couldn't take part in the same continuity
Does anyone else wanna see an animated series about this
Or like a comic
Could be called Gary King and the enablers
fuck animated played with Simon Pegg
Big Mans that’s good name for band Steve, you should write that down
@@MajesticJoeyDon't do a Gary, Gary.
"They call me the King."
FUCKING. LEGENDARY.
I remember only watching a glimpse of this ending, the "they call me the king" part, and that one line made me want to track down this movie and i've seen it like 5 times now
The "I'm sorry" has always hit so hard for me. As someone who has struggled with addiction and substance abuse. The " I'm sorry" from silence hits so hard its difficult to put into words. Personally hot fuzz is my fav from the corneto trilogy but for some reason that scene really sums up the struggles of addiction. You know what your doing is wrong but getting out of it almost seems impossible.
This may not be the best film in the trilogy, but it does have the best ending out of all of them.
I could t agree more. I’ve always said this.
All three have unique and beautiful endings that tug at certain heart strings, but this one…my god
When Gary says 'I'm sorry' he is apologising for bailing after the car crash (not end of the world stuff) , and Andy says 'I know,' thus understanding his real meaning, accepting and forgiving him.
The intonation in Gary's voice compared with the other 'sorrys' during the movie show he means it (for the first time).
I think...could be wrong lal
I see that scene differently, Gary came home to finish his last goal and then his own life. Thats why he was so uncompromising and selfish. After the destruction of the town and basicly the hole World he saw that he really fucked up this time and doomed everyone else in the process
Great ending, but I love the car sequence that starts the video. It's only 30 seconds long and isn't particularly fancy as far as driving goes, but the music and editing make it thrilling. And Sam's glance in the rear view mirror and hitting another gear is great. She even snarls a little as she punches it. Great movie all around.
I remember when I first saw this in the cinema and hearing "Happy Hour" over the closing credits, it was so out of place and yet at the same time suited it so well, such a good choice of song.
I see Gary's aesthetics swapped Sisters of Mercy for Fields of the Nephilim
scrolling through here looking for a comment that noticed that
Garys finally doing what he always wanted: taking on the world, going on a noble quest, but this time hes fighting for whats right. Hes sticking up for his blank companions even though it puts his own life at risk.
Such a good film
The Cornetto Trilogy was possibly the funniest trilogy ever made.
It was never about the drink
It was simply about the Quest
I would rate it like this for the Cornetto Trilogy
1. Hot Fuzz
2. Shaun of The Dead
3. The World's End
Correct
I wonder maybe(I wish)(cornetto fans)Edar Wright make a fourth cornetto movie of the two greatest British actors(Simon Pegg and Nick Frost) for one last time 🎬📽🎞🎥
That makes two of us.
He really stumbled into an interesting post-apocalyptic world. It's a shame he didn't ride this into a spinoff/sequel, because what happens after The World's End seems incredibly unique, setting-wise.
The Dark Tower books seem pretty similar.
Didn't really need one, same as all the Cornetto Trilogy movies.
Not really that unique of a setting, judging from the way the world works based on Nick Frost's story, it'll be the usual Us vs. Them scenario, the usual "Robots are the lesser/better race" but it's a post apocalyptic instead of dystopian setting.
its kinda post apocalypse medieval which is really rare , very cool and barely used
@@pizzaparker9544 Yeah, like in Vampire Hunter D.

I was thinking Arthur, but close enough
I kinda feel bad that the real Peter is "replaced", but I guess everything worked up fine at the end. Especially for Sam and Steven.

@@victimi6623 Of course I do. it's like "Hello I am a robot!"
Please do more scenes from this. Love this movie.
A bunch of drunks cause the end of the world.
Drunk british lads Can Do everything aparently.
To be honest. It's pretty good. The Aliens that try to control our fate are gone, means we again can make our decision and destiny unlike their own so-called guidance to us becoming "Normal ". We are Humans not robot and We Do not like being told what to do.
Actually, a bunch of drunks save humanity from being killed. Would you be alright being a corpse while a copy of you you'd never see lives your old life?
Only just realised after all these years that the flying Cornetto wrapper at 2:50 says "Minttu" on the side. Finnish wrap! :D
Damn you're right. That's pretty weird.
Flew across the Scandinavian Seas just to taunt poor Nick Frost.
Honestly a nice little detail seeing how it’s right after Andy mentions nobody ever heard from other countries again
This was one of my favorite movies for a very long time.
Now, I wanna see Simon Pegg in a western
That has to be the greatest "End of the World" music ever.
1:03 Simon you beautiful bastard, this would've been effective without your teary eye, but goddammit you put in that extra 10%. Bravo ya wonderful fucknut.
Would have made a great TV show on Netflix.
Based on what they have done to Death Note, Resident Evil, Cowboy Bebop, I don't think any adaptation to Netflix would be a good idea.
THAT is how you end a movie!
Considering how easy to beat those ink robots are. I can only imagine the sequel starts off with Gary getting kicked out with the heads of his crew thrown at him
well no they are armed up with weapons and clearly have been at it and we've seen how well Gary's Friends some were said bots at 40 struggled unless they were really pushing it, fat like Andy or using the walls, floor, limbs of other blanks or weapons the bots are quite tough and these bots have the memory's of the gang since the 8th pub with that kiss seen so the fighting skill is still there
I suppose you could call it 'The Great Reset'...
I'll see myself out.
Cornetto adverts at the beginning and end of the clip. Irony 🤣
Gary looks like Tom Hiddleston
sounds like him too
I imagine it would be cool if each of the trilogy go a sequel. This one most of all
Wish the destroy ending in mass effect was like this
I want a sequel now
The King of Herobrines.
Weirdly it does look like a Sisters of Mercy music video.
Doesn't hurt that Gary is basically dressed as Andrew Eldritch in the scene either.
@@Simian-bz7zo and yet Eldrich looks more like the landlord these days.
Long live the King!
If one day all technology stopped working in single moment
1: there would be millions of traffic/flying/see accidents.
2: there would be millions of death in hospitals.
3: Most of human civilization would starve after couple of weeks
4: There would be terrifying rise in criminal activities.
5: People life span would jump back to 50-60 years max
6:Amount of smog shouldn't fall if to many if humans survive because every human/family would need to keep fireplaces burning non-stop.(for food, heat, light)
If there's 3 things I don't like about the ending of most movies, it's
a. the fact that the dimwitted heroes always get off scot free
b. the main characters always reconcile after an argument/misunderstanding
c. the fact that they're just too happy
but the ending of this film was none of those things and I fucking love it
Gosh I wish this film got more love! I thought it was great!
The world's fucked but at least Gary has his friends and he's finally trying to get sober
I think....
he also used to cut his wrists and now he can be trusted with razors (hence no beard at the end) so yeah I think he'll be alright
Hail To The King, bitch!
I can't believe they managed to top shaun of the dead AND hot fuzz by they did it!!
Steve was the lucky one.
This is the peek of British cinema prove me wrong.
to err is human
I hope Gary King goes on a quest to restore electricity & technology.
Nice usage of "This corrosion" by Sisters of Mercy.
I would care if I had blanks as friends. I would glad to have some to begin with.
Haha looser
Stay postiive man, they'll turn up
Best Final EVER!
Edgar, we need the fourth movie!
That will always be fuckin awesome.
Still only ONE GARY KING
Not gonna lie I only just realised some of those guys had guns. Not sure how Gary would've survived this lol
Guns aren't optimal weapons for fighting up close in a crowded room.
Tbh, he probably wouldnt care. After all, he just wants a good time
'5 waters please' well played, well played
Simon Pegg gives me a very Hugo Weaving sort of vibe in that last scene.
Oliver flipping off the crowd while half of his head was broken off is probably the most awesome part of this sequence
6:03 Me? They call me the king! (YELLING)
I've never heard of this movie before. I might look it up later on.
It’s funny and interesting how Gary ended up standing up for the blanks at the end since they’re not the “oppressed” and outcasts.
This movie is the prequel to Fallout.
Move The Fleet Away From The Death Star
ok this does beg a couple of questions
how were the pub goers able to tell the group other than gary were blanks and how did the term blank get popularized to refer to the robots (as implied by the guy saying “blank bastards”)
This post apocalyptic ASOIAF + Wheel of Time crossover fan fic is weird but I’m happy Viserys I and Moiriane found love (who knows maybe marrying Moiriane instead of Alicent prevented the Dance of the Dragons?)
I love this movie.
Wanted to watch it on Netflix, but cant find. I watched it before, good movie tho
