Fantastic idea. I have like 20 of the large breeder boxes. I was going to use them as bio, with guppy grass to keep my nitrates low. I lost my little screen gates. The sponge idea is awesome. Let me check the links for sponge, pump, and 1/4" reducer. Keep up the great advice Jason!!
Something I’ve been looking into recently is aquaponics. So essentially, the rain gutter sections could hold plants that will utilize the nitrates and other nutrients produced by the fish waste, and reduce maintenance and water changes for your fry as well. I really like your idea. Thanks for sharing!!!
I feel like it would be 1/10 the price of you put some 1/8” or 1/4” bulkhead barbed fittings in the side of tall deli cups and used that as your overflow.
@@JadrenAquatics Mine just came in seen me watching you "As always" and said "Here we go again You and these DIY fish projects , House soon a Fish store".
I really like your set up with the gutter and the lip of the breeder box. I wish I could do something similar but the cost of the breeder boxes are so high.
I would add a piece of 1" foam under the 20L so you're not running the heater constantly- tanks on concrete floors soak up all that cold air and can be hard to regulate.
Excellent idea Sir. Could you explain more on the plumbing connections especially for the pump & how the water is controlled etc. Maybe put links for the materials. Thank you for sharing. Excellent job Sir. 👍👍👍👍
My Guppies have never eaten their fry, even when I had the males and females together. Drives me crazy because I have to cull out what I don't want. And I didn't realize the females could or would hold their fry internally for more than a month. INSANE. I do have my males separated now and the females too, because I want to pick who I want to breed to see what I get. I will never become a full time breeder for Guppies or any other kind of fish. My Cory's bred like crazy last year and I ended up with a couple of surprises even though I was pulling the eggs.
I've made a similar system before. One thing to be very careful of is the sponges clogging due to how small the outlets on the fry boxes are. I used a plastic canvas mesh that id cut fractionally more holes into (as in cut away the plastic between holes with a pair of scissors and obviously depending on the size of the fry) as I found sponges clogged too fast. Even then id still be cleaning the canvas mesh regularly I'd recommend putting some sponge or plastic mesh In the gutters before the bulkhead to catch any fry incase of an accidental overflow.
Good advice. What about stainless steel screen or mesh? Lots of screen sizes you can find in the kitchen section of $-stores. (drain covers, sieves, colanders)
You can buy these fluval breeder boxes here jadrenaquatics.com/products/fluval-breeder-box-medium?_pos=1&_sid=b7743b025&_ss=r

@@WOW_AQUATICS thanks glad it helps
Sorry buddy. It’s called Andropaus nd it’s very real. Men do get it after 50. Just not as bad as our female counterpart. Great video bud.

That’s really great can’t wait to see it with the fry 👍🏼

Keep it up Jason! Your passion will ignite again 😊
Cool system setup!
Has Anyone ever called you the mike Rowe of aquatics
It's called Man-o-pause...aka obsession with hobbies
Why don’t you just put the in between fry in the actual 20 gallon?
The fry cant stay a long time in the taper, have mortality in this!!💪🏼🤜🏼
Awesome! If only my wife could appreciate your aquatic engineering. Keep up the good work with diy’s love it.
If it makes you feel better my wife does not appreciate it either lol

Looks like you built a better mouse trap. Nicely done. I may need to try this for hatching Corydoras.
Well it's untested soooooo
Can you make a video with more detail about the pump and hoses set up
Do you have an update on how this is working for you
Would this work with Rams??
Whoa! That is a sweet set up!! Thank you so much for showing it, such a great idea😃
Your very welcome
Where can I find breeder boxes?

That's a really good idea. I needed to raise the shelf levels any way because I can barely get my hand in the tank lol
Man o pause
Lol!
Love the videos!! You make my day! GOD bless you abundantly!
I really love this setup because you aren't limited by how many trays can fit on the top of the aquarium!
Yea that limit was killing me I kept needing more 20g longs lol
Fishy fish fish...🚂🚃🚃🚃
Just in the process of getting my fish room going. Plan on doing 4 40 gallon breeder tanks for to breed to Rainbows and Plecos together.
Very cool good luck!
Are you going to be throwing any sponge or ceramic media in the bottom of the gutter? Make it dual purpose?
Have not really thought about. Great idea
please don't give up !
I live 3 hours away from you and work Monday through Saturday 8 to 5 and am planning a day off next month to come to your shop.
Now that I'm not doing retail it's usually a disaster lol
I love it! Please link me to that sponge? I'm in the market for a good sponge that keeps fry in but let's water flow through in my new fry rack
