    The Black Panther movie lost me when they killed off the supporting villains. Not only was it a waste of good characters (I legitimately liked what they were doing with Klaw) but it also made me wonder: what the point of the first half of the movie? Why didn't Killmonger's plan start with killing Klaw when they first met, and then enacting his master plan? Maybe the movie did explain that, but I never cared enough to rewatch it to find out.
    Also, what they did with the Skrulls was criminal. ....Unless they are revealed to be the evil force we know and hate from the comics, in which case Carol Danvers is the true villain for letting them settle on Earth!

      Everything in the MCU is a little nerfed compared to their comic counterparts. Especially the infinity gauntlet.
      1. The movie itself states that with just 2 stones, Thanos is the most powerful being in the galaxy. Therefore, he should have been able to handle the Avengers easily.
      2. Another limitation the movie added is that he had to clench his fist to use the stones - to give the heroes a chance and seemingly wasn't capable of using more than one, maybe 2 at a time (might just be he didn't think to combine them).
      3. He had to have been holding back otherwise he would have just killed people on sight. Instead he merely incapacitated the Guardians, everyone defending Vision and didn't kill anyone on Titan.

    • @OverLorD768
      @OverLorD768 Год назад +6

      And I love how MCU fanboys are claiming that Thanos in the comics was a simp, and killed only because of that. No, Thanos doesn't kill in the comics because he's a simp. He kills in the comics simply because he can.
      Thanos in the comics is a madman, who seeks infinite power to call hymself a god, but when he gets it, he has no idea what to do with it (plus, somewhere deeply he understands that he isn't worthy of said power, which is why he keeps loosing). There was even a short comic where Thanos just decided to ruin one guy's almost every birthday simply because flark him, I guess. The dude got himself a nickname Mad Titan not because he came out with the idiotic plan to "fix" overpopulation by comitting a genocide, but because he was a living incarnation of insanity. Even him "simping" for Lady Death was there more to show just how insane Thanos truly is, since the only person he fallen in love with was a literal incarnation of Death itself.
      Also, in "Infinity Gauntlet" it was Lady Death who wanted half the population in the Universe gone, not Thanos. She brought him back to acomplish this mission, but Thanos himself didn't give a shit about it. He used it as an excuse to collect all stones, and then was mostly busy having the time of his life playing God and bossing around Mephisto. When he eventually did snaped half the population of the Universe, he did it only to please Lady Death who was pissed at him for using her.

    I agree with most of what you’re saying but there’s one thing I take issue with. That being when you said Thanos could have doubled resources or something. The thing is that that isn’t the point. Thanos is a narcissist and wants to prove to the universe that he was right all along. Doing anything differently would go against his motivation. This becomes especially apparent after Endgame where he decides to create a new universe full of people grateful to him. Thanos was never about actually helping people

    • @jonathancampbell5231
      @jonathancampbell5231 Год назад +17

      That may be true, but it's also a little lame and doesn't really address his arguments, instead merely saying he's wrong because he's simply a delusional asshole (it is also contradicted slightly by the "What If?" series, where he's actually talked out of it by T'challa).
      Not helping things is that behind the scenes video and interviews with the writers indicate that they seem to think Thanos actually does have a valid argument, which suggests that he's only a narcissist because they couldn't think of a way to rebut him and just went the easy route.
      In truth, there is a bunch of problems with his arguments beyond the fact that he's egotistical and resorts to genocide, such as overpopulation not actually working the way he says it does, but the film doesn't contradict him (un-filmed scenes would have even implied he was factually correct) as the characters don't even attempt to poke holes in his logic...because, as said, the writers didn't seem to realise what these holes even were (not did way too many fans of him).
      It also undermines the fact that they changed him into a more sympathetic villain who at least likes to believe that he's actually working for some greater good, rather than the cruel and sadistic death-obsessed madman he was in the comics- might as well have kept him as he was in that case.

    • @ethanmillward675
      @ethanmillward675 Год назад +2

      I disagree with a lot of this. For one I don’t really care what the team behind it says though the Russo brothers have said Thanos only wants to prove he’s right.
      For What If, I don’t love what it did but it’s not the fault of IW or Endgame.
      And finally I disagree with the idea that the movies imply Thanos’ actions to be helpful. He says he’d helped Gamora’s people but we only have his word and for all we know he might simply believe this to be the case without actually knowing. From what we’re shown, Thanos’ actions are portrayed as a very bad thing. They cause extreme economic distress, tons of collateral damage such as car crashes, and extreme trauma for the survivors. Never once is he portrayed as noble despite what idiots on the internet seem to think.

    • @jonathancampbell5231
      @jonathancampbell5231 Год назад +2

      @@ethanmillward675 Cap says that pollution has lessened since the Snap, although he's obviously trying to see the positive side of a crappy situation.
      We only have Thanos's word that Gamora's people are doing better, but we don't see anything to contradict his claim either.
      My point though was that there was going to be a scene where Thanos was in space prison and saw Titan slowly die from his window, which implies Thanos was correct or at least that nobody on Titan ever found an alternative.
      I don't think Thanos would dispute that his actions lead to trauma or economic disaster; he would just say that it's a necessary and temporary evil, although of course he's genocidally annoyed that five years isn't enough for people to "get over it".

    • @ethanmillward675
      @ethanmillward675 Год назад

      My response to the whole Titan situation is that we only have Thanos’ word to go by. He’s going to find ways to make himself the one who’s right. Another thing I noticed about it is how simplistic he makes the situation out to be. I know this is more real world logic than movie logic but usually when there’s a very easy answer to anything it’s at best incomplete and outright wrong at worst. I think this applies here. To me, Thanos is pretty clearly made to be seen as a delusional madman

    • @jonathancampbell5231
      @jonathancampbell5231 Год назад +1

      @@ethanmillward675 The fact that you keep saying "to me" undermines your argument- it might be clear "to you" but it isn't clear to anyone else.
      It doesn't matter that we only have Thanos's word to go on these things, because nothing else in the film contradicts him, and my point about the unfilmed scene is that the writers themselves believed he was telling the truth about how things went down.
      The movie doesn't show any characters poking holes in his logic- in real life, overpopulation doesn't work the way he thinks it does (it's as much about resource management as scarcity); furthermore killing a mere 50% of the population would be traumatic but recoverable in only a few decades (going purely by his own logic, he should have killed MORE than 50%, honestly); nobody actually visits the world's he culled to see if things really have improved or not (indeed Cap's comments about the rivers being cleaner than before the Snap indicates Thanos was on to something) etc
      No characters properly challenge Thanos on his logic or evidence- they express horror at his actions and they (correctly) think he's being arrogant and single-minded, but nobody actively tries to disprove him...because, based on behind-the-scenes stuff the writers have said, they themselves seem not to see any holes in his logic either (such holes exist, they just didn't see them), probably because they don't know enough about the topic of overpopulation in the first place (neither do most viewers, which is why so many people wrongly think Thanos had a point).
      They make Thanos a narcissist because that's their way of making a villain who (in their eyes) "has a point", while still making him fundamentally a villain who needs to be stopped, and Endgame Thanos opting to destroy the entire universe and remaking it into a more grateful one is just to illustrate that (along with simply being a way to "up the stakes", and not be a total repeat of Infinity War, which again just means they are screenwriters).
      But no character sits down and says "Thanos, you're an idiot- here's why", and if you aren't taking it for granted that he's wrong to begin with (and the writers themselves did not), then the movie itself is suggesting he is seeing a real problem and offering a real solution, rather than seeing an imaginary problem or offering a solution that wouldn't actually solve the problem even if it was real, instead saying Thanos is un the wrong simply because he's a dick.

    With Thanos, the key thing is that he is the MAD titan. He doesn't want to double resources, he wants to prove his point. Also, before you rip into Endgame Thanos, you have to remember that it's the younger and more bloodthirsty Thanos (the one who promised to bathe the stairways with Ronan's blood). Thanos in inifity war seems to mellow out with each stone he gets. He takes off his armor, he knows he is unstoppable, he is determined, and it is his movie. I'm Endgame, the younger Thanos didn't go through the ordeals to get the gauntlet. He is sure he will win. He is cocky and bloodthirsty, and it isn't his movie, it's the swan song for the original lineup of Avengers. So yeah, he takes a bit of a downgrade, but they do kill off the wiser and older Thanos at the start, so that character basically served his purpose.

He had, by the name's very definition, INFINITY ways to solve the problem of overpopulation and lack of resources: he could make the universe bigger, he could slow down metabolism, he could create planets with the sole purpose of agriculture or farming.
    But no, he used them to kill. The stones are tools. He CHOSE to turn them into a weapon -,-

    Comic book Drax was human jazz musician Arthur Douglas, he and his family were killed by Thanos. Thanos' father A' Lars (Mentor) had long been plagued by the horror his son became. He was haunted by his responsibility in the mad titans genocide, deicide, infanticide, and most painful to Mentor was the matricide Thanos commuted when he murdered his own mother, Mentor's wife Sui-San. Desperate to bring an end to the evil he sired, he reached out to Thanos' grandfather, Kronos an elder celestial and one of the original rulers of the Eternals of earth before the colonies in Uranus and Titan were formed. Kronos transformed himself into a cosmic god of space and time through experimentation with cosmic energy. Together Kronos and Mentor plotted to build the perfect weapon to fell their son/grandson. Arthur Douglas was a perfect vessel due to the tragedy he suffered as Thanos' hands. They could not save his family, but Arthur has a flicker of life left, and a begin born of an inherent vengeance was the perfect foundation. Mentor and Kronos used their combined abilities to fashion a formidable corporeal humanoid body far superior to average beings and enhanced in many ways. They then transferred Arthur's consciousness to the body. His memories were fuzzy and unclear, but he absolutely knew his purpose, and among his many physical abilities he also had the innate ability to seek and find the mad Titan anywhere in the cosmos. Drax eventually succeeded in his mission, but it was all for naught as after he used his superhumanly dense hand to rip out Thanos' beating heart, he watched in awe as the Titan was reconstituted before his eyes. It seems death herself, Thanos' lady love had forsaken him, and he was truly deathless.
    (Drax killed Thanos several more times, but that was inside the cancerverse where death had died and life was unchecked).
    Fun fact, Thanos and his brother Eros(star fox the horny avenger) are the only two Eternals ever to be conceived and born biologically.
    The celestials created the Eternals to be essentially sterile and forbade them from attempts at reproduction. While they simultaneously creates the deviants with the ability to breed out of control and each birth created and entirely new species regardless of the parentage. So 100 Eternals remained 100, but 100 deviants became millions.

    Great Video Dude!!!👍 1:43 Now I definitely agree On That Part. In the Comics Originally, T'challa Didn't Made His Suit Out Of Armor. It was Just Made Out of Cloth. It would of Been way better if the suit was just all cloth and not armor. It would've have to show T'challa having to dodge attacks that would been lethal and raise the stakes.
    The Same Scene We Saw In Civil War. When He Fought Bucky In the Stair Scene Without The Suit.
    Panther was Showing Off his Super human
    Strength and Skills. If the Movie Did That, The Fight Scenes Would Of Been Way Better. It would of shown the True Powers of the Black Panther. Imagine If Black Panther Fought Erik Killmonger in A Brutal Hand To Hand Fist Fight With The Same Level Of Emotion Like Iron man Vs. Cap And Bucky. No CGI Mess, No Suit Of Armor, None of That Boirng Same Power Abilities…

    When you put on the gauntlet in comics, it's like you see and know everything and it doesn't seem to hurt you after each use. You are a god essentially, with an unlimited amount of power

    Erik Killmonger's actual backstory:
    Parents were killed by raiders led by a traitor of the Golden Realm who sold out secrets of his home nation to Ulysees Klaue.
    Killmonger was taken and raised abroad by hateful people, and given a new name N'Jadaka, and identity by those who had robbed him of paradise. He was exploited N'Jadaka for his gifts of intelligence by his surrogate father M'Demwe, the very same who murdered his family before taking him into the outside world.
    All the while, N'Jadaka fostered a deep resentment towards everyone and everything for all the horrible events that he experienced, while his future nemesis T'Challa would be
    crowned king after the death of his father.
    Eventually, N'Jadaka grew tired of his life in servitude and his childhood of hardship, and executed M'Demwe, brutally shooting, then stabbing the traitor to death, before going out on his own path and changing his name to Erik Killmonger.
    Marvel: Nah, we gotta black this shit up.

I know its something we've talked about before, but I don't think there's really a limit to how strong writers should make villians, the more powerful they are, the more interesting it will be to see how the heroes manage to go against them, assuming you avoid plotholes/cheap macguffins/inconsistency in the writing and work out the solution to the villians power in some way with integrity. Heroes being too powerful just makes things be uninteresting and have no drama. I miss the stakes being high.

    The stones doesn't give you forever powers... What you do with the stones still has to follow what the stones can do... The people that disappeared was from the reality, time and soul stones, reality to take away the body, time to increase how long the effects of the stones last for which is forever and soul stone to take away their souls, the mind stone made him reach everyone in the universe using their mind and randomized them, the space stone increased the reach of the stones and the power stone increased the power of the stones... He can't just wish food into existence, he can't just wish anything into existence...
    But I do agree that they freaking nerfed him in that fight... That's because Hollywood don't know how to use powers creatively and they follow power scaling a lot with generic blasts and punches... Dr strange should have been the one in charge of messing with the power of the gauntlet... Spider man should have been doing the restraining not punching, he should only focus on restraining from a distance... Drax would be their close range and be the one in harge of punches, it would have made sense if it was the hulk instead of wasting him in wakanda for no freaking reason, war machine or bucky should have been the one riding that hulk buster not freaking banner, what a waste... Star lord would be the mid ranger, peppering Thanos with mid range continuous shot whilst zooming around him with his levitation shoes and utilize other gadgets like granades and the gravity thing to destabilize Thanos continuously and they can add some coolness with gun Fu like fighting also involved... Tony would be the long ranger who would be firing lasers and missiles and blinding Thanos with dust clouds, doing all these from a distance, only swooping in unexpectedly from thanos' back with blinding speed (this is to give Thanos a chance to catch him during the change of the tables, it makes sense here because tony swooping in would also add to the pandemonium Thanos is facing against the constant barrage from different places before he has time to recover and face one person, so Tony's sudden unpredictable swoops would help add to the confusion)... And big girl does what she did in the movie, waiting on the sidelines for strange to teleport her in when Thanos has been wared down and temporarily restrained by drax holding his hands, spiderman continuously webbing him in place, strange holding down his movements and nerfing the magic of the stone, star lord now continuously shooting him with stuns not bullets, to keep Thanos immobilized and losing his strength whilst tony grabs on to the gauntlet and revs his engines trying to fly at top speed away with the gauntlet and using that force to pull out of thanos' hand as the mind girl does what she did in the movie...
    This way, Thanos breaking out of his trance won't be from something as very very stupid and pointless and unsatisfying as star lord freaking punching Thanos, as in that was very very very dumb and unbelievable... Star lord would either shoot Thanos very wildly starting from his face and around his body because he's shaking in anger with his real gun continuously which doesn't kill thanos but hits with enough impact on his face first to bring him out of the trance from his pain and the mind girl would get overwhelmed by the pain as well, and star lord's remaining bullets to thanos' torso would start ripping Spiderman's webs restraining Thanos apart and make it easier for Thanos to break free and some of the bullet would hit drax on the face making him let go of Thanos immediately from the pain which just destroyed everything for them making mind girl and Tony seating ducks with no protection or star lord would be so lost at the news of gamora's death and stop the stunning and become out of it and stop participating when Thanos enters back into the fight which destroys their teamwork and makes drax a seating duck... Either way works and doesn't rely on a convenient bout of stupidity from star lord to achieve something so pointless and not realistic at all...
    This way, everyone is unique to the fight and adding their specialization to the teamwork rather than punching each other and destroying the power levels... This way, Thanos never gets to use not even half of the true power of the stones or override with thought the simple nerfing magic strange his using on the gauntlet because his focus and attention would be broken and extremely divided with different types of attacks coming from different places continuously, simultaneously and extremely swiftly one after another with the webs to deal with and the constant explosion and dust clouds and sudden swoops of Tony... He won't be able to focus or breathe...
    They made a mistake making the fight a blow to blow fight instead of letting them overwhelm him with attacks after attacks, numbers and teamwork before he even has the chance to counter... That is fighting smart but they wanted a back and forth for the cool aspect which just makes Thanos look weak and not make the avengers look intelligent for not planning on how they would face him...

    The sheer amount of people who thought that Thanos' plan made sense is mind melting.
    Less people dosen't mean there are more resources to go around. Where do people think resources come from? PEOPLE MAKE THE RESOURCES!!!
    Less people = less resources

    Thanos did deliberately hold back, he genuinely thought that his 50/50 genocide was the right thing to do, and wanted to kill as little people as possible before hand so that the snap would be 100% fair, hence why none of the avengers died (other than the snap).

    Never forget, Thanos original motivation in the Comics was to impress Lady Death. It was never about saving anybody.

    Killmonger was a billion times better than Thanos as a villain and a character. There's literally nothing about Thanos outside of being a big CGI action scene generator, which is probably why all the RUclips movie bros flock towards him. He's literally Malekith with slightly better screen presence.

    Missed a HUGE joke opportunity by not going, "And now it's time to talk about the villain of Captain Marvel, Captain Marvel." then give a completely straight-faced review of her villainous actions and costume design.

    Infinite War was good for the most part but it made 5 decisions that I cannot overlook and forgive:
    1. Vibranium is suddenly easily damaged by the Black Order for no reason after being built up as the strongest metal in the universe.
    2. Stormbreaker is turned from Mjolnir's equal to a deus AXE machina that somehow surpasses the power of ALL infinity stones with the faintest explanation of it being a king's weapon. HOW??? "Infinity Stones/Gauntlet gotta be nerfed for the casual audience, ok~"
    3. Hulk turning into a coward then later a joke.
    4. Thanos portrayed as a tragic hero as opposed to an unstoppable evil.
    5. Worst of all, no explanation for what the power of the Soul Stone is, EVER.

    Killmonger was also a massive hypocrite, which makes him more interesting. He has zero respect for Wakandan ways, will gladly steal a tribal mask cos "he feels it" despite raging against such practises and kills his own girlfriend/allies for a hint at power. The film however never quite acknowledges this, nor does a lot of the fandom, which blunts the impact.
