Merry Christmas to you and your family. Thank you for all the videos this year. Its been like looking into your life, the good and the bad. Lets hope next year is a great one. I take my hat off to Jasper for putting that tricky little triangle of render on! He obviously leads by example. Great song at the end. Enjoy your time off and take care.
Merry Christmas to you and your good family, Thank you for the laughs, tips and thought Provoking musings of a site Plaster, Enjoy the Break. Back on the Hamster wheel in the New Year!
I lost my beloved rotty leyla to cancer about 8 months ago. Probably one of the hardest days in my life, i miss her everyday. Condolences to you and your family mate 🙏
Them beads are called apu beads good things but can be a pain to install. The bit of tape you pulled off comes off first and window protection sticks to it. Merry Xmas mate great channel 👍
In the previous video when you were struggling to float up the material you should have tried a plastic diamond float. I think that would have helped. That's pretty much all we do here in Melbourne Australia, heaps of acrylic texture coats what you call silicone render and we do a lot of micro cement finishes. We also get a summer formula and a winter formula in the finish top coat
Hi trek . It was just hanging, I did think about taking the hard plastic float to it. I have an old mate that watches on here, he moved to Perth . Haven’t seen him for years. Plasterer too, he said he was watching the low temp render video and went rendering the next day at 39 degrees! I’m not sure what I’d prefer to be honest!
@Plastersmurf74 hahaha he's crazy for working in 39 degree weather and especially in Perth! Luckily I'm from Melbourne and the weather is pretty good here for rendering. Anything over 35 in the summer time I pull the pin. I don't know how you do it working in the wet and cold to be honest!!! We do get wet cold days here in the winter time but nothing like In the UK.
Hi bud nice work but regarding rendering in winter. The scratch coat u used ewi 225 very high polymer basecoat. Really holds the float coat ocr back. But try putting on later in afternoon topcoat and ibarr powersponge morning after that's what I do in winter. Just treat like mono proud of the beads. I spray render machine etc. Oh hand apply just add abit of retarder for overnight rubb up. Sorry waffling on haha
And regarding winter site work, it didn't take me long, when I started out, to learn as to how cold your hands get. I thought sod this and started wearing those finger-less woolly gloves only to get a bollocking from my dad who insisted that you can't plaster wearing gloves. Well, I did!! Ok, I had to really scuff up the wooden handle of the trowel to maintain grip and the fingertips were still cold but it was better than nothing!! And for general outside stuff like mixing up etc, I'd put a large pair of rigger gloves over the woolly ones. I now own dad's certificate, from his National Service days when he was in the navy, that they gave out for crossing the Arctic Circle. Maybe he thought gloves were for wimps!!!
Putting that finish on around 40 degrees is nuts, but its not your job mate,a tip 6in drywall blade will keep the plastic float clean for the float man Looking good lads, merry xmas too you and family🍻
At 6.07, it doesn't look like the end caps of the sill have been put it. In this case, I know the window was put in after but it used to annoy me when I'd point out to either the builder or window fitter that it's got to be so much better (and easier for the window person) if they're put in before rendering (of any sort) and they don't get forgotten about. We'll cut them in after was usually the answer which I always thought was a bit daft as, if anything, the render keeps them in place. Look around when you're out and about and see how many sills you notice without the end caps in!
Merry Christmas Smurf..
All the very best for 2025 🍻
Whenever I see you've uploaded a new video I smile haha. Love your videos smurf.

Some of those chords are very sad indeed 😢
Why can’t you put it on with a carbon steel trowel ?
Rust stain will affect the material. Even a stainless with hard plaster on it is not a good idea. Need a clean trowel ideally .
Ure asking for trouble doing that in weather like that mate get in side plastering
