I’m not sure what you mean by “had to” though. As far as I know there is no law that requires the release of tax returns. So if you really mean to say that no other President had to, as in was required to, then you are correct, but nobody is saying it’s a legal requirement.

Billionaires and millionaires are in a 50% tax bracket. They pay that on profit. The 3% is on money they have in the bank.the same amount as everybody else. This is political posturing at its worst.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say most of the commenters on here did not listen to what the president said. He is saying he is going to raise the taxes for billionaires which should raise the standard of living of most Amercans because they will be paying less taxes. Taxes are what pays for our schools, roads bridges, fireman, police officers. Billionaires are hoarding trillions of dollars that could be proving jobs for more people who can pay even more taxes to make life better for everyone instead of a thousand billionaires.

These lefties keep stating it wrong. 3% is the percentage paid vs their gross income. Business income is taxed on profits not revenue. Which is after expenses. It ends up being a lot higher than most people when you actually state the figured right.
Yes, businesses are taxed separately, but we're talking about personal, or 'take home', income. Just because you own the business and that business pays taxes on its profits doesn't mean what you bring 'home' afterwards as personal income should be taxed at a lower rate than your employees.
These are two different situations and I wouldn't be shocked if you're just spouting talking points you heard from a corporate/billionaire-backed podcast or news network without any actual knowledge of the subject.
@@Merble you do understand that the vast majority of wealthy people don't have personal income in the first place. Personal Income is taxed the highest so they just simply don't do that. Stock and corporate dividends are the way to go, they are taxed significantly less. Also no billionaire ever has billions of income, personal or otherwise, because that would be stupid. And furthermore according to the IRS the top 1% of earners pay more than 50% of the collected taxes every year. So really if the argument is that they need to pay their fair share, they would happily agree because they'd pay less not more.
I have direct experience with this because i run a contracting business. I never have personal income, i only have business income.

In my opinion, a four term limit would be ideal for the house, and a two term limit for the senate. Terms in the House of Representatives are 2 years long, and terms in the Senate are 6 years long. So basically, 8 years maximum in the house, 12 years maximum in the senate. Enough time to allow experience to be built, while also enough to allow for new faces to run that would represent the inevitable changes in opinions that occured over the previous politician’s terms.

And the GOP are right there writing new loopholes in to help them out every time they get into power.
Some of those loopholes might apply to the average working class person, but how are they supposed to know that without several years worth of law school tax code knowledge or paying a lawyer to tell them this?
