    I started years ago to make the American flag afghan that my gram had in a crochet magazine it was big and got to be to much for me! Oh how I wish I had finished that afghan. It was actually a ton of red, white, and blue squares double crochet back loop only. I may try to start it again only a smaller version, these placemats are adorable.

    I am so thankful you made this. I have been requested to make a flag blanket for my bff's husband. I have been pondering how to make the stats. I used Jayda's star pattern and it turned out great. However it looked more like a starfish after attaching. Never even thought of using felt. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️😆

    Thanks so much for sharing! I made some years ago. My son was in the Army at the time and I thought it would be cool to make for him and my daughter in law for the 4th of July. I couldn't find a pattern then so I made it up myself. It was a pain, I crocheted all the little stars for it (not 50) lol. Yours is so much better! 😊😊 Have a great weekend! 😊❤😘

    I would like to make this but just a little larger. How do i figure out the stitch count? Im sorry i am pretty new but do really well on most patterns i have tried. This one is for some veterans I know and I am so confused on starting it it is driving me crazy. I thought they wanted an afghan but they said no they want to hang it and for it to be smaller. Yours is the one i think i could do pretty quick but just need it a bit bigger if i can.

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  11 месяцев назад

      Hi Ruth! I gotcha. I tried to keep the dimensions of the placemat proportional to the dimensions of the actual flag. I you would like to do the same I would take the number of stitches and number of rows and try doubling everything. Double the amount of rows and double the amount of stitches in each row. This should keep everything proportional AND make the project a little larger. IF you don't want to quite go that big maybe multiply both the number of stitches and the number of rows by 1.5. I hope this makes sense. The idea is to try to keep the pattern grouped and the same and whatever change you make to the pattern you make to everything in the pattern as a whole. I hope this makes sense. If it would help, take what I'm saying to someone who is pretty good with math and see if they can help make sense of what I'm saying. 😊🧶❤️

    How do you figure the size of the blue comparable to red and white so it doesn’t look uneven?

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  Месяц назад

      That is a great question! One that I had to do research on because I wanted the same thing. 😄If you google, the American Flag Color Dimensions it will tell you. I followed the proportions and shrank it down as best I could. 😊💖🧶

    Hi Tiffany, would I continue with 51 sts if I wanted to make a wall hanging??? Thank you so much 😊

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  2 года назад +1

      Hi Susie! That is completely up to you! I went according to the ratio dimensions of the actual flag. Perhaps you could make it and just hang it sideways maybe? 🤷‍♀️😊🧡🧶

    Do the stars remain flexible ? I made a large blanket have 50 stars to attach to it - trying to find an easier method than sewing but it has to sty soft and moveable.

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  11 месяцев назад

      Great question. Mine have stayed flexible, though if you are wanting to make stars for a blanket I still recommend you crochet them to keep the texture consistent AND I'm not sure how nice the felt will look after multiple washes. It would be a shame to work so long and hard on your blanket and have the felted stars effect the look at all. You can still attach crocheted stars to your blanket using the Aleene's Fabric Fusion Quick Dry Fabric Glue that I show in the video. The bond between fibers will be super strong and you won't have to sew anything. Multiple washes will not affect the bond either.
      This is the only Fabric Glue I swear by if you would like the best results with your crochet project: CLICK HERE: amzn.to/3RACqvb

      I crocheted 50 stars for my blanket and I and super hesitant about my idea to use the glue - many hours went into this blanket and I don't want to ruin it. Thank you for your response.

    Why are there only 18 Stars on your placemat which is supposed to represent the US FLAG? It doesn't.

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  11 месяцев назад

      You are absolutely right. It is suppose to just be a fun example you can use. I couldn't fit 50 starts in the space and make it look good. But if someone was determined to get 50 stars in the space I say Power To Them! You Could also just make 13 and have it represent the original 13 colonies also.
