Miter Shears- this pair is highly rated and has replaceable blades

Heat gun- I use mine to quickly dry paint, soften the glue to dismantle furniture and quickly cure polymer clay without an oven. Gets a lot hotter than a hair dryer.

Craft heat gun that doesn't get as hot as mine

Watch me turn a cheap $2 hall tree into a rustic farmhouse style entry bench. I really love how this turned out. I show how to disassemble glued miniature furniture and how I changed the entire bottom half of this piece.
I have been toiling away learning how to film and edit videos for RUclips. I have lots of projects planned ranging from abandoned miniatures to sculpted clay animals and Dollhouse Miniatures in multiple scales. I also have a large Harry Potter build planned for 1" scale.

Every tip is valuable to any miniaturist, we learn from each other and this piece is just so appealing. Can’t wait to have a go. Love your no nonsense approach and obvious talent.
Thank you so much!
Banner looks like a mountain Lion!!! So cute
Isn't he so handsome?! We call Banner our "Pocket Puma". He's an Abyssinian mix. We have Banner and his sister, Abby.
It’s all about the details. I freaking LOVE those shoes!
Aren't they great? They have such nice details.
You are one of the most talented 'miniature makers' I've ever seen. I am really in awe of your talent and the way you explain what you do.
Wow, thank you! I appreciate that so much 😊
Now I can justify getting a heat gun. Excellent make over.
Thank you! I love mine. I use my heat gun so often, I keep it plugged in. I use it to "bake" small polymer clay items so I don't have to turn the over on. I use it to dry air dry clay much faster. I melt hot glue strands with it.
Cute hall tree. I liked it as it, but the makeover has much more character.
Thank you! I liked it too and the price can't be beat. But I thought it needed a little TLC.
So very much more artistic than the original .
Thank you :) I liked the potential in the original piece but I think it's a bit improved.
huge difference- in a good way
Thank you so much 💓
A lot of paint work here, and a nice new design 🎉
Thank you! The starting piece had a lot of potential.
Looks so much better. Love it
Yay! Thank you!
This makes a nice change up. Thanks for the advice on doing this. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
My pleasure 😊
I bet you could have made this by yourself, but enjoyed watching the modifications you made.
Now that I've seen it, I could copy it, but I'm not super creative when it comes to making things up. I tend to take inspiration and Google reference images. It's easier to start with something vs start from nothing.
Love it.
Thank you 😊
Great job. I enjoyed watching how you transformed that piece of furniture.
Thank you very much :) it was fun
And learned even more, my little notebook is filling up.
That's great to hear!
Awesome idea!!!❤❤❤❤
Thank you! 😊
Love it and love the little accessories.
I love the little shoes the most. They're so cute
This turned out beautifully.
Thank you very much :) it's a very basic shape. It would be fairly easy to build from scratch
So good ♥️
Thank you!
Great work Shyra
Thank you :) I'm really happy with the new bottom
@@queencityminis You are most welcome & that’s good :)
Love it ❤😊
Thank you 😊
And I thought my cats were all conspiring against me whenever they interrupted my work. Relieved to know it’s actually just a cats job to oversee all crafting lol
Cats are the cutest supervisors 😺
@@queencityminis mine are a smidge demanding. I felt my ideas were under appreciated at my last performance review
Hahaha one of my cats likes to walk over my pallet. I use purple alot in my paintings. Not sure why... 🤔 Well anyways that's beside the point. I end up with purple kitty toes on most things. I've decided it adds to the charm rather than creates a mess. 😂
Haha that's a wise idea! It's best to just accept the disruptions of our cats 😆
Loved, liked and subscribed. Smashing vid, and thanks for showing the painting, it's the bit I'm trying to learn.
That's great! I'll make a more in-depth instruction video about it someday.
Thinking of you! Tomorrow's video (dollar tree dresser makeover) shows a new painting technique I came up with. Really easy. I'm making an extended version of that tutorial as well.
@@queencityminis OOOh - you little beauty you - lol thank you
I got you
What a sweet update! It’s lovely. Love the no nonsense approach. I wonder why the back of that piece had that floral on the back originally?
I have no idea. It was so thick, it couldn't sit flush against the wall
Thank you! I want my videos to be entertaining, since most viewers are just watching and don't make miniatures, but I also want them to be informative and to the point. I don't like when a video becomes repetitive or has lulls where nothing is happening.
@@queencityminis So odd, I can’t stop wondering about those flowers, haha.
I love the pacing of your videos. And the humor!
Turned out great! Do you have plans to create a diorama or doll house to put it in?
I actually don't own a dollhouse 😲 I did but I sold it for $25. I lost heart when it came to wiring it and choosing finishes etc. I would like to have a dollhouse someday but I'm too focused on smaller projects. Finishing a dollhouse takes so long.
I tried a hair dryer and it worked for me. It did take some time though
That's good to know. I've never tried a hair dryer bc I have a heat gun
A microwave works well too. I put the furniture in for 10 seconds at a time or so and keep turning it so it doesn't burn. It usually takes less than a minute total to soften to glue enough.
@@queencityminis I was just scared that I’d set something on fire, lol
@@michellehicks6898 I did singe a Dollar Tree desk in the microwave one time 😬 I put it in for 30 seconds. The desk is enclosed and it got too hot in the middle and charred the wood.
Does anyone know the name of this metal cutting/ruler tool, I've often seen QCM use in her videos to make a mitre cut? Any info appreciated. And thanks to QCM for sharing! Love from London 🇬🇧
They're called miter shears. I got mine from Amazon. I suggest this pair instead, though. The blades are replaceable.
www.amazon.com/GARTOL-Multifunctional-Trunking-Adjustable-Replacement/dp/B07SFTHVBV?keywords=miter+shears+blades&qid=1678460028&refinements=p_72:1248909011&rnid=1248907011&s=hi&sr=1-5&linkCode=sl1&tag=queencitymini-20&linkId=6559f90bf9e04c10983a94f524272a35&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl
The blades for the one I bought can't be replaced, so they're dull.
@@queencityminis Thanks very much for getting back to me - that's really helpful! I'm off to get myself a pair 😄 Good luck with your projects, I look forward to seeing more!
