Paint techniques video
Watch me turn a cheap $1 dresser from the Dollar Tree into a beautiful piece of furniture with decoupage paper drawers. I used simple painting techniques to complete the transformation.
I really love how this turned out. I will definitely be doing more Dollar Tree furniture flips.
I have been toiling away learning how to film and edit videos for RUclips. I have lots of projects planned ranging from abandoned miniatures, furniture makeovers, accessories, kits and Dollhouse Miniatures in multiple scales. I also have a large Harry Potter build planned for 1" scale.

I love the way you don't miss any chance for superb details in your work
Thank you so much 😀
That is a totally different dresser!! Dang!!!!!❤❤❤
This was a fun one 😁
Bob Ross of dollhouse furniture :)
I do have a lot of happy accidents 😆
I keep looking at Dollar Tree...with no luck. Your work is lovely!!!
Good luck!!
SO STINKIN CUTE!!!
Thank you 😊
Color was perfect esp after you added the brown, good to know for my DIY paint project this weekend. Thanks for sharing!
You are so welcome! I hope it turns out well.
I like your sense of colour.
Thank you!
So impressed watching you layer paint. Just when I think you're done, you add more paint! Looks aged and very real!
Thank you so much! It's really cool what you can do with cheap acrylic paint and just a few simple techniques.
It is amazing to watch you create items! Not many people share this talent, so thank you for that.
Thank you so much! I appreciate that
Yay for a happy accident that turns into a beautiful blessing! I love it when it happens in the craft studio.
Same here! Happens to me all the time.
those knobs!!!!!!
I was so proud of myself when I designed those in Tinkercad.
Im a multitasking crafter from the UK x
Hey there 👋
Love this Shyra!
Thank you 😊
Very cute
Thank you! 😊
This came out super cute! You're right - it is a looooong way from where it started. Nicely done!
Thank you :) I finished the bathroom and the front. It looks great. I'll probably release that video in a week or so.
Wonderful
Thank you 😊
As always great content ❤
Thank you 🙌
Looks fab.⭐
Thank you! I need to do another one of these soon
Painting technique = chef's kiss
Thank you! I like how this came out.
Whenever I decoupage - apply paper with Mod Podge - I use a technique of pre relaxing the paper. Which simply means I get it wet. I've done this on large pieces of furniture and it works beautifully. So for paper as thin as what you used and on something that small, I would just spray the paper front and back with water and dab off excess moisture with a paper towel. Then apply the Mod Podge as you normally would. Now the paper and the Mod Podge dry at the same rate. And if I am decoupaging a large area, I pre cut the paper to the size I need. Soak the paper in a sink or tub filled with a few inches of water. When you put the paper in the water it will start to curl up. Leave the paper in the water a little longer until it relaxes, uncurls and lays flat again. Dab it off front and back on a towel and apply with Mod Pidge as you normally would. Trust the process, everything will dry flat. The paper stretches a bit when its wet, so if I need to trim it back to an edge I use a sanding block. Just make sure its completely dry before you try to sand it.
Great tips! Thank you. I'll definitely do more decoupage in the future.
Not about what you do ...
I have a 3D printer and I've only used it once..I don't know why I don't use it more, but when I saw those adorable drawer pulls, I thought, "OK WHITNEY! Get to it!" Well done my friend!
I haven't designed a new file in SO long b. I've been busy growing my channel but the 3d printer is so cool. The drawer pulls were so easy to design in Tinkercad. They're two ready made shapes.
Fabulous my dear!
Thank you so much!
Oh my goodness. I'm so impressed with your creativity. You inspire me. It looks like something you'd find in an old abandoned farmhouse! God bless and thank you for sharing 🙏
Thank you so much!
These turn out so beautiful. Have a great day
Thank you! You too!
This is fantastic! I made your dresser turned apothecary cabinet a while back when the video came out, and I think this will be my next dollar tree makeover. Thank you for sharing your creativity!
Yay! How did your dresser turn out?
@@queencityminis pretty good! I didn’t even attempt to make it the same color as yours, I am not on that level!
@@abbywhite6305 Maybe you are! It's really simple. I made a tutorial showing how I did it. ruclips.net/video/4AxfbOpk6dU/видео.html
I have only been watching you for two day and I am so impressed with you talent. I had AN OLD DOLHOUSE GIFTED TO ME SO SOME OF YOUR PROJECTS WILL SERVE AS INSPIRATION in renovating it, I am a jack of all trades and sewing is one of them. I herd you say that sewing is not your thing, If there is anything I can do to help, please ask.
Thank you so much! I am terrible at sewing, mostly bc of impatience. I'll keep that in mind.
So Adorable! it looks like it would be perfect for a little girls' room! I need some Textured tweezers! Great video as Always!!!
Thanks this was very interesting. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Glad you enjoyed it!
I just bought a couple of those same dressers . I love the way your dresser came out, so pretty. I wish I could make those same knobs. But I’ll be using tiny beads. Thank you for the helpful tutorial. Have a great day 🌻
Thank you! I do love the knobs I made. They're such a delicate scale. I also like knobs that are just a straight pin with a glass seed bead.
I love the knobs as well but i dont have a 3d printer so ill be trying a few options on my channel in a few weeks. Its so great they make these dressers cheap so we can take them apart and redo them. With they would come up with different pieces already tho
@@AllisAllAboutminis It seems like these are the only pieces they plan to make, huh? I picked up a chair and the bed as well as the dressers. They used to have a hutch a long time ago but I haven't seen it in many years.
@@AllisAllAboutminis There are lots of great knobs and pulls you can make from scratch. I was just pressed for time so I used the ones I 3d printed. I actually printed that batch with expired resin so the details aren't crisp. The knobs look a lot better with good resin.
@@queencityminis yours are amazing! They remind me of some pulls i had in my kitchen!!. I dont have a 3d printer so i have been picking up things here and there that can be used for interesting pulls and handles.
1st time I clicked it said private. Ok we're back. I really like all the dollar tree modifications
I know! So frustrating. I had to delete the video because of a copyright claim. Then I had to upload it and wait all over again. I'm glad you're back and got to enjoy the video.
@@queencityminis I thought maybe you accidentally released it too early. Copyright claim for what? Music?
I just bought this dresser, can’t wait to try this. Great results!
Have fun! I'm sure it'll turn out great
How did I miss this video??? Love
Yay! Glad you found it
Que cambio! 🤩 Precioso! 👏👏👏💪👍
Thank you :)
I pass this Lil dresser up all the time..but I really dig how it came out! I'm thinking maybe I will get one after all..My next room is the bedroom and I found an awesome bed at the EnT store. I will be revisiting again on Monday..for a few things I forgot about and of course those random bags..I can't get enough of. My sister and I have been sick this week and it has been no fun! the miniature shop has been the high light of my visit ❤
You went to Earth and Tree Miniature Shop? Best store ever!
I stocked up on Dollar Tree furniture so I got all my pieces when they were $1. Now they're $1.25.
@@queencityminis yes..lol you sent me there..lol remember!!!!
I can't match up people with their RUclips profiles. I know who you are now! That's awesome.
Beautiful!!
Thank you so much! My next video will be a Dollar Tree inspired tall dresser made from cardboard, for people who can't find these pieces in their store or who don't have a Dollar Tree.
I love this!
Thank you :)
You are so talented!
Thank you!
I just picked up this same style to transform. I cant wait to microwave it. Lol
😂 Just keep an eye on it! Imagine explaining to firemen that you started a disaster while microwaving dollhouse furniture.
@@queencityminis haha. Yes i actually have a very tiny microwave cause we dont use one much so its super tiny and probably weak. So 🤞🏼
You sound so much like Winona Ryder when she starred in Beetlejuice.
Ha! That's awesome. I'll need to listen to Beetlejuice to what what she sounds like 😆
Omg! She does!
😅 yea you really do! that's funny!❤
Yes thats it i couldnt place it.
@@AllisAllAboutminis this is amazing 😆
My store doesn’t have these
That's so disappointing. I believe they're sold online as well.
It turned out great. I like the paper design and color combos. How long does it take to print out the knobs on the 3D printer?
The knobs take very little time to print because they're so short. I think just a few minutes but I haven't printed any in a while. I'm not great with technology so I'll have to pay more attention to my 3d printer when I have more time.
@@queencityminis all the possibilities to make stuff and thangs ha!
That's the idea. Some people don't like technology being used in creating and prefer all scratch built but there are some things that would be time consuming or, frankly, too annoying to make by hand. I think technology complements handmade things really well.
@@queencityminis agree.
Not a huge fan of the colors and paper ... Kinda reminds me of like ranch house stuff my grand mother would have 🤣 not my style at all. little knobs are great. Love watching your videos. Always interesting. Even if it's not my style 🤣🤣🤣 still awesome what you can do with that dollar store crap. Now make it steam punk 😁
🤣😂 You don't like the whimsical aesthetic? I'm glad you watched anyway. I always watch a video from the miniaturists I follow, even if I don't plan to make that thing. Sometimes you learn a new technique or it sparks an idea. At the very least, it's entertaining.
@@queencityminis yup learning is why I like watching. Nope I like deep colors and modern lines. Them knobs are great really do like those little things
Thank you. I designed them in Tinkercad. There's a ready made twisted rope circle shape and I combined it with another ready made shape. It was super easy.
