I’m 75 and about 5 years ago I fulfilled my ambition to make dolls houses and all the accessories. I started with using plywood to make an exact copy of my own house. Then I made other types, using various materials including foamboard. I even made a circular two story house using 3 vinyl albums with triangular rooms. Then I made little cardboard cases into rooms with furniture and tiny dolls. I so enjoyed it as I had been a fan of dolls houses since I was a child. I played with my house for hours and my siblings could never get a look in! I’ve given away most of my creations now to children I know, but have kept the model of my own house. Like your own mother I would always be on the lookout for little objects which could be transformed into furnishings etc and developed a lot of ingenuity doing so! Regards from Scotland
I looked at that pile of junk in your intro and saw.........a pile of junk. You looked at it and saw...mixer...coffeemaker...cups...scales...measuring spoons...........Makes me think of my mounds of scrap fabric that my husband sees as a pile of scraps, but I see as mug rugs, stuffed toys, pincushions, tote bags......... That is strange indeed. I've always loved miniatures but never thought I would attempt to make some. It can be enjoyable but sometimes so frustrating but when I have finally managed to make a piece, it's so rewarding. I'm glad you found my channel 😊💕
I asked this same question on Instagram the other day and someone responded "I think because they make us remember our childhood, when we played with barbies or dolls, and seeing these little things are like unlocked accessories to play with❤"
My Grandfather made my Mother a dollhouse during WW2. He was a cabinet maker and Foreman of Carpentry at the GM North Plant in Oshawa, Ontario, where the Mosquito Bombers were built during the war. The Mosquito Bomber’s fuselage was made from beautiful blonde birch wood because of its flexibility, strength and light weight. He used to bring the scrap wood home. He built a beautiful doll’s house from the scraps that is now in a museum in the Ottawa Valley. It is a cherished family treasure and we thought it, and its history should be shared with the world❤
I admire how resourceful people were back then. The 'Make do and mend' approach. Such a wonderful story, thank you. I wish I can see that dolls house one day ❤❤
I do it too. Made a tiny outfit like a cave girl by sewing scraps of material, adding loose random items for jewelry. Tbh I cried and laughed when done because it was so cute. 😅🤦🏻♀️🇨🇦😁
A former neighbour of mine made incredible dollhouses out of cardboard boxes and accessories out of random things. They were very detailed and to scale, right down to the tiniest piece of silverware. The houses were 2 story. The top floor could come off so that both the first and second floors could be played with simultaneously. These houses were incredible, with windows, shutters, doors, staircases, etc. My neighbour's name was Rosemarie Gauthier (not sure of spelling) She also did alterations for people in my building, and was very good at it! To top it all off, she was legally blind!
I’ve got to start looking more closely at the rubbish I throw away! However, if I had a wonderful imagination like you have, I wouldn’t throw anything away. You are very talented and a big thank you for sharing. Now to watch it all again, and again!
😁 Thank you very much and you are very welcome! I do find it difficult sometimes to throw away things so I have a box full of rubbish. Only a small...medium box.😊💕
All of the items were Just GORGEOUS! ❤ Youre very clever with how you come up with your ideas and then make them from, What Ever you find! Im gleefully Amazed! 😳😃🥰 Thank you, thank you, Thank You for showing us your talents! 🤩💖💗
I love these trash to treasure type of videos, it shows how creative and ingenious miniaturists are and always gives me so many ideas! I look forward to your future videos!
I started using odds and ends to make things for my dollhouse when I was about 6. That house was one of those metal ones with all the trees and things painted on it. I would use sheets of toilet paper as rugs, or ask for the screw ends of toothpaste tubes to make cups. It had furniture that was made of plastic. Here I am 60 years later still looking at bits and bobs and seeing things other than what they were intended for. I’ve made Barbie scale houses, and traditional 1:6 scale houses. I’ve also done a couple of railroad scenes. I really enjoy looking at miniatures and making them. I was lucky enough to see the miniature White House in Austin, Texas. I’m working on a Barbie house now. I’ve only got vision in one eye, but I do what I can. I really enjoyed watching your video. I will subscribe to your channel and check out more of your videos. 👍🏻
Your message filled me with so much joy. I would love to see your work and I wish I can continue making miniatures and dollhouses like you are. There is beauty in everything, even in scraps. Thank you so much for subscribing. It means a lot!😄💕
A little tip. The best pots are the little finger holes for sliding closet doors. I think they are called closet door finger pulls. Some are deep. I use those for stock pots and some shallow I use for skillets. Buttons make good lids. You can paint them silver or black. I painted one to look like enamel. But I also make mine from other items.
I’m always blown away and how people can look at certain things, like bottle caps, or parts of a pump and see something else that they can create. Really neat!!!
Ingenious! Haven been an editorial assistant on Dollhouse Miniatures in the early 2000s, seeing these household items reimagined brings back fond memories of having been a part of a wonderful small team of writers/editors for a wonderful hobby.
Thank you very much💕I really appreciate your comment. It must have been so lovely being part of a team working with miniatures. It must have been wonderful seeing all the amazing miniatures and meeting the artists. It truly is a wonderful hobby.
I am amazed at your creativity! Who would think to use these items to make this coffee maker! It’s perfect! So original. I love it. I’m so glad I found your channel.
Oh my! That mixer is absolutely amazing! You are so creative! Brilliant idea! I love your attention to detail. I make miniatures for my fairy houses. They are very tedious. I don’t think people realize just how much so.
Thank you!! It really is time consuming making miniatures. Sometimes I just have to walk away from a project when it goes wrong or doesn't work as I imagined it. But when it works and looks good, it's a great feeling 😊💕
@@tinycraftlife you’re so welcome. Yes, I’ve done the same. And it does feel great when it goes good. I made a three story fairy house and I hit a hard area (the ceiling) to complete. The walls were difficult too. I had to step back for a few weeks. But when I went back to it everything fell into place. Not exactly easy but I found the solution to my problem. The floors are slate so cracks had to be filled in. Thankfully I used pea gravel and moss.
totally A D O R A B L E!!!!! It was facinating to watch you come up with them ... from trash! Thank you for sharing this wonderful skill! I've made a few houses from cardboard and paper... including Hagrid's hut from the Harry Potter series. I made a couple of bird's cages, and his bed and other stuff. They are fun to make. And at my age - 72 - I don't have much to do anymore - as this old body is breaking down. So I just use my time making things. Now I just gotta figure out what to do with it all!!! lol
Thank you very much💕I can imagine they all look amazing! I love Hagrid's Hut. I hope you keep making all the wonderful things. I have the same problem, where to put them all 😊
This was incredible to watch and fantastic that you used typical “rubbish” people have around their house. These types of channels tend to use craft supplies which quickly become expensive so its wonderful to see what a little imagination, ingenuity (and a lot of skill!) can create. I’m sure you have inspired many people to look through their “junk” drawer with new eyes. The mixer is spectacular. Thank you.
Tiny miniature things have always brought such joy and this just left me in awe of how realistic they look and how they actually work. You have a talent of seeing these old things as new miniature things that I could never have. It’s so cool!
Thank you so much!💕Glad you like them. It was not the cleverest idea to use an exacto / stanley knife. Unfortunately that was the only one I had at that time. Luckily I've got better tools now 😊
I am in awe of your ability and crestivity!! I am looking at my Kitchenaid mixer right now and you have totally nailed it with your miniature! All of these are amazing. I am not at all skilled to make most crafts, but I love watching, and thinking just some day, I will make something like this. Until then, I have found my channel to watch and learn! Thank you for sharing your talents.
I do not need one more craft to learn, but it’s never a bad thing to see a creative genius! What a fun video! I really admire people like you. I call myself a mechanical artist, because I make stained glass. Anyone can learn technique. I love my cricut and sublimation printers. Love all the software. I can make. I cannot create like this! So jealous, in awe though!
Thank you very much! 💕😄 I think I am jealous of you! I love stained glass!! I wish I was able to use software and all these cool machines. I am so bad with technology but I do need to invest in better tools etc. Would love a 3D printer but Don't think that will ever happen 😂
@@tinycraftlife Thank you. That was nice. I wish you were near me, it is all way easier than it looks! My son is a computer engineer and I bought him the Creality Ender 3 3 D printer. He loves it. It is open source, which basically means the copyright holder, allows people to use change and study the software for any use. That’s really good for the rest of us because it just gets better with that many minds who are really interested in working on it. My son says it’s very easy to learn. There are a lot of videos out there and there are a lot of free software that help you create, the things you want to create. He makes me stuff for my cricut makes hangers for my mats. He makes toys. He makes speaker stands for his piano, all sorts of stuff. They are 160.00 on Amazon, which I know is a lot right now, but not unobtainable, like a 6k DTF printer! Good grief. I just keep converting printers🤣 They can’t keep us down! lol
I know someone who runs a local community electronics center that is donations based and has a 3D printer with the plastic "thread" rigged to go up across the ceiling. I remember a couple of years ago he had 3D printed pieces for some smaller more home based sized 3D printers and I think he may have donated a few of those to schools.
Simply AMAZING ,sometimes you look at things & knowing that they could be perfect for something if only you knew what & you don’t keep them But you & your amazing talent shows us what we didn’t see & not forgetting your skill with the Stanley knife !! I’d have cut off the thing I was trying to keep & properly cut myself first Thank you for sharing & inspiring us to see looking beyond what is in front of us into what is possible from our own imagination ❤ Ooh & you’ve got a new subscriber
Thank you 💕 cutting that plastic was so much work 😂. I'm glad I have some better tools nowadays. I still want a Dremel tool to make it all a bit easier, maybe one day 😊
Absolutely amazing. I kèep containers of tiny metal & plastic things I can't bear to throw away because I know I can make things from them. You have reignited my excitement for tiny things. A tip - if you take apart an empty disposable BIC lighter, they have all sorts of interesting metal parts including 2 tiny springs. I use the springs to make kitchen whisks.
Thank you so much! 😄💕 I have kept a box full of items I also think I can use later on. Thank you for that BIC lighter tip!! would have never thought of using parts from it. Such a great idea 😊
So! I'm not the only one who sees bits of trash and sees them for the tiny treasures they really are! I am not insane and I'm not alone anymore lol!! Well 👏 done!🐾🌈☮️🇨🇦
Oh my! This is the first of your videos that I’ve seen. I am in awe 😮 So impressed with how you do this. I can’t even look at an empty paper towel roll and come up with something creative to do with it 😄 I hope you don’t mind, but I will be binge watching your content now. Thank you for sharing your talent with us 🥰
One mans junk (which I never label trash) is another mans treasure. I saw a dolls toilet that first item. Good job love 😊🙋🏻♀️🇨🇦 I use things for other purposes and really do like to. You will never be bored, always rethinking uses for unloved items. 😢 DIY and show the creative in your spirit. I too use nail polish to paint to fix broken dishes, pics anything really. The blender is great!!! I like miniature settings or vignettes. Shadow boxes etc. Ps, love love love this music. I suffer pain, fatigue and Fibromyalgia. 😢tytyty.💚🌹💚my body relaxed instantly. I needed it more than you know.
It's so much fun to try to think of ideas and reuse all the junk 😊 I need to make another video like this at some point. I am so glad that this video helped you and glad you liked the music. Sending you healing thoughts 💗
My question is, do you first think of the final product and find stuff that can be used to make them? Or you just look at the stuff you have and decide what to make with it? You have a creative mind.
Thank you very much 😊💕 Great question! I can say both but most of the time I just skip the planning process and start making the items. When I have an idea, I look at the materials and start making the miniatures (I make changes as I go along). I enjoy the creative process but it doesn't always work the way I want it to. In this video I just looked at the different trash items / shapes and the ideas just came to me one by one.
this is so inventive and creative. WHen i was a child i loved to create from recycled art. (it was pretty much all we had around us.)It's such a talent to create miniatures from so many parts of items around up. I wish you could have been around when i was a kid. luckily i still love creating like this and you've opened my eyes to so many more things to get creative with. i just subscribed!
Thank you for your kind words and thank you for subscribing 💕😊I'm glad you liked the video. It really makes me happy to hear that you are still being creative and like making things.
These are adorable! I would suggest putting a different surface underneath when cutting. Those mats are great when cutting paper, but won't take a slip from a craft knife without gouging a bit. Maybe an offcut of plywood or thick board? Do you have one of those mini Dremel-type tools? They make sanding and drilling easy. UV resin is great for making miniatures too. I've just discovered what an excellent glue it can be, as well as making fake water.
Thank you very much and thank you for the great tips 😊💕 I really need to invest in better tools. This was one of my first ever attempts to make miniatures and having better equipment would have made it so much easier. I really appreciate your advice.
You're so patient. When you started to cut the top off the toothbrush (the first red item you used) I thought for sure it was going to be a toilet lid! (That's my whacky sense of creativity for you.) The stand mixer was a much better transformation, of course. Well done on completing this project. I'll have to go and check your other vids now... Just a hint: I find good, metallic paint a bit expensive in my part of the world so, for smaller projects, I use cheap metallic nail polish. It works brilliantly, hardens well, and has a much better metal finish than many paints. The brush will probably be a bit big for some areas but you could still use other small brushes for this. Just keep some nail polish remover handy (eg acetone) to wash out the brushes straight after using. Here's a few tools you could probably use (not that I'm a miniature maker, just an avid life-long crafter/maker): *some sturdy tweezers for holding on to things ( a minim of two for when you need to hold two parts together); *either a really small clamp or vice, or some large metal bullclips for holding items onto the table; *a cheap soldering rod (I find it the fastest thing to put holes in the side of plastic pieces or for helping to soften an area you want to slice); *a cheap electric rotary tool (don't get an expensive one just yet) for all sorts of cutting, polishing, etc. *a injection tool/syringe with different sized needle-heads (to make dispensing the glue easier). I hope someone finds my little list helpful. If you have other suggestions for other people working in miniatures (including jewellery makers) please feel free to add to this list.
Thank you for watching and thank you so much for the all the tips!! 😊💕💕 I have to add them to my list. It's so nice to get ideas that are useful and not expensive. I'm very grateful, thank you again 💕💕💕
Thank you very much 😄💕 I bought the tape a few years ago from Amazon UK website. It's called Solid Foil Washi Tape and they have many different colours and sizes available. There might be some on Shein and Temu too 😊
I got a decent inexpensive one at Walmart (Hyper Tough brand) just before the winter holidays a couple of years ago that wasn't too expensive. Mine has to stay plugged in when used though so it might not suit your needs if you need something more portable.
Thank you 💕Oh definitely! These were my first ever miniatures and I didn't have any other tools. I am definitely a bit wiser this time making my other miniatures with better tools. I'm learning as I go along 😊

Thank you so much and thank you for subscribing! It really means a lot 💕😊
You are an artist! Thank you so much for sharing your work.
Thank you very much 💕😊
Incredible. You have a great eye/talent for seeing a pile of junk as works of art.
Thank you very much! 😄💕
❤ wow amazing 🤩 i used to do this stuff when i was little 😊. I want to try it again with my toddler ❤ thanks for sharing beautiful ideas 💡 ❤
Thank you😊These are fun projects.
I hope you have better and safer tools than I had.
Wow! I wish I had the ability to see trash as something new! You have such great talent! Thanks for sharing and recycling/repurposing!! ❤
Thank you so much 💕😄
Absolutely stunning craftsmanship!! Thank you so much ❤
Thank you very much 😄💕
❤ so clever and patient too ❤ lovely to watch
Thank you so much and thank you for watching😊💕
Que genial! Muito bonito e criativo! ❤
¡Muchas gracias!💕
This is the first video of yours that I have seen. Brilliant! I never thought about using nail polish.
Thank you very much 😄💕 It's surprising how nail polish gives such a great finish. It can also give an enamel type finish.
Thank you so much and thank you for watching! I'm glad you like the video 😊💕
Cool! I loved making things for my Barbie house when I was little. I’m always looking at how things might be used.
Thank you very much 😊💕 It's so much fun to make minis from odd materials.
Interesting. Very interesting.
Thank you 😄💕
I do not need one more craft to learn, but it’s never a bad thing to see a creative genius!
@@auroravegodsky9938 I need to do some research on this. It's such a good idea.
@@auroravegodsky9938 that is so cool!
Adorable - and so soothing to watch.
Thank you so much 💕😊
Well done. So imaginative. 😊
Thank you very much! 😊💕
Your video made me smile! Someday I'll try to make a miniature.
😊I'm so happy to hear that. I think you will enjoy making miniatures.
Im addicted to tiny things so im definitely watching this video 😅 why are miniature versions of things so cute???
😄 I so agree with you
Simply AMAZING ,sometimes you look at things & knowing that they could be perfect for something if only you knew what &
you don’t keep them But you & your amazing talent shows us what we didn’t see
& not forgetting your skill with the Stanley knife !! I’d have cut off the thing I was trying to keep & properly cut myself first
Thank you for sharing & inspiring us to see looking beyond what is in front of us into what is possible from our own imagination ❤
Ooh & you’ve got a new subscriber
Thank you so much and thank you for subscribing! very much appreciated 💕😊 I think I need to get myself better tools 😄
Unbelievable! Wow! Such an imagination! You are extremely talented! Thank you for sharing this with us!!!
Thank you and you are very welcome 😊💕
Love these, especially the mixer! Cutting all that plastic cannot have been easy🤣 Genius- all of it! 😍🥰
What a wonderful talent you have, and a vivid imagination to see things you can make out of the mundane! Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much 💕😊
OMG!!! these are soooo amazing.! I wish I still had my doll house.
Thank you so much 💕😊
So clever. I can imagine some collector a hundred years from now enjoying these!
Thank you💕😊
Wow! I never would have been able to figure out how to build these. Awesome job!
Thank you very much 😄💕
Each one is so adorable and clever...
Thank you so much 💕😊
Coffee pot amazing!
Thank you very much💕
You are so creative and this is so relaxing to watch!
Thank you so much 💕😊I'm glad you enjoyed watching it
So! I'm not the only one who sees bits of trash and sees them for the tiny treasures they really are! I am not insane and I'm not alone anymore lol!! Well 👏 done!🐾🌈☮️🇨🇦
Oh you are definitely not insane or alone 😄💕💕💕
@tinycraftlife Ha!ha!ha!-- but it's so nice to have confirmation, lol! 👍😃 Happy Crafting!!🐾🌈☮️🇨🇦

Oh my! This is the first of your videos that I’ve seen. I am in awe 😮 So impressed with how you do this. I can’t even look at an empty paper towel roll and come up with something creative to do with it 😄 I hope you don’t mind, but I will be binge watching your content now. Thank you for sharing your talent with us 🥰
Thank you 💕😊I'm glad you liked the video and I hope you enjoy the others too 😄I welcome you to my channel 💕💕
Wow! I love how you have the vision to create these miniatures. Do you see what these things can become first, or do you see the bigger picture first?
Thank you so much💕It can be both. Sometimes the shape gives me ideas and sometimes I just make up things as I go along.
I don't have the patience or skills to make any of these, but I truly enjoyed watching the process 💕
Thank you😊💕
One mans junk (which I never label trash) is another mans treasure.
Very clever and so cute!
Thank you very much💕
Really incredible and amazing!❣️❣️❣️
Thank you😊 💕😊
My question is, do you first think of the final product and find stuff that can be used to make them? Or you just look at the stuff you have and decide what to make with it?
You have a creative mind.
Thank you very much 😊💕 Great question! I can say both but most of the time I just skip the planning process and start making the items. When I have an idea, I look at the materials and start making the miniatures (I make changes as I go along). I enjoy the creative process but it doesn't always work the way I want it to.
In this video I just looked at the different trash items / shapes and the ideas just came to me one by one.
Amazing video thank you for taking the time, so inspiring!
Thank you and you are most welcome💕😊
this is so inventive and creative.
Imagination and thee gift to see endless possibilities
😄💕
Wow. Just wow!
Thank you! 😄💕💕💕
@@tinycraftlife you have great skills and imagination to be able to create these. I hope you make many more x
@@dshe8637 Thank you 😄💕 I'm hoping my skills will also improve
Here's a few tools you could probably use (not that I'm a miniature maker, just an avid life-long crafter/maker):
*some sturdy tweezers for holding on to things ( a minim of two for when you need to hold two parts together);
*either a really small clamp or vice, or some large metal bullclips for holding items onto the table;
*a cheap soldering rod (I find it the fastest thing to put holes in the side of plastic pieces or for helping to soften an area you want to slice);
*a cheap electric rotary tool (don't get an expensive one just yet) for all sorts of cutting, polishing, etc.
This is how I make all my miniatures. Its a blast !
It's so much fun 💕😄
You're very talented ❤❤❤
Thank you very much💕
Such a clever use of all these things most would throw away! Would you mind sharing what silver tape you used? It would be so handy in crafting 😊
Thank you very much 😄💕 I bought the tape a few years ago from Amazon UK website. It's called Solid Foil Washi Tape and they have many different colours and sizes available. There might be some on Shein and Temu too 😊
Spectacular! I kind of want to buy you a rotary tool to cut and drill holes in the plastic easier-anyway love everything you do here
Thank you! I do agree, the tool would make it a whole lot easier. Should be on my next shopping list 😊
I got a decent inexpensive one at Walmart (Hyper Tough brand) just before the winter holidays a couple of years ago that wasn't too expensive. Mine has to stay plugged in when used though so it might not suit your needs if you need something more portable.
Amazing creativity 😅
Thank you very much💕
I am so happy to have found your channel 🎉
Thank you and welcome😊💕
Love the creativity - try getting a "hot string" styrofoam cutter to cut those plastic pieces faster and more safely.!!!
Thank you! I will have to invest in that cutter 💕😊
I feel like you could use a more secure box cutter, the blade was very wobbly! Super clever
Thank you 💕Oh definitely! These were my first ever miniatures and I didn't have any other tools. I am definitely a bit wiser this time making my other miniatures with better tools. I'm learning as I go along 😊
Incredible 👏👏👏
Thank you very much 💕😊
Wow, I love upcycled stuff, you are so talented! New sub!
