  • On today's video we will be adjusting the shocks on our 2018 Can Am Commander. After four seasons of hard use these shocks are starting to sag a little and need a little lift. These basic stock shocks do the job but really kind of suck. I want to upgrade to Fox shocks but they are not in the budget right now so this adjustment will have to suffice for now. I'm hoping to gain some clearance and lessen the pogo effects these shocks create. If you own one of these, you know what I'm talking about🤣 I hope this helps anybody wanting to adjust their shocks also. Thanks for watching!

You made adjusting the springs look easy. I have some empi coilovers on my golf cart and it seemed harder to get the turns needed for the lift I was after.
Also it looks like you could fit a 3/8” breaker bar or long ratchet in the square holes for the much needed leverage. Thanks for sharing.

I really just need to get new shocks… but I decided to squeeze a little more out of these. When desert season starts I will be able to test and adjust as needed. But based on the ride this last season I think the adjustment will probably work fine. Some fox shocks or Elka shocks would be nice 👍🏻 for now the wallet says get used to a bumpy ride! Great tip on the breaker bar/ratchet. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 😎

I have seen them online and in local shops. Once these wear out I will be getting some myself. They should improve the ride a-lot! Sorry I can’t give you a specific link to them yet.

Does this make the ride more ruff?

After riding about 200 miles after adjustment they are perfect 👍🏻 no more bottoming out and the bucking is gone. For stock shocks they are what they are. I will be replacing them with some Fox 🦊 shocks or something equivalent in the near future but for now, this will work just fine. These shocks are about five years old and were starting to sag. This adjustment allows me a little more life out of them and time to save $ for the new ones!

Really want to hear how the fox shocks changed the ride. I'm getting ready to change them or sell the machine.

@FamousAndFallen haven’t changed them yet. But when I do I will share the results here. Went out riding today and after adjusting the stock shocks they are still doing ok. I’m not getting any airtime with this rig but for the most part it handles the trails a lot better. Hopefully someone that has already changed them out may have some more input.

@@ocotillooutlaws4101 I am very disappointed at how rough my ride is. I am going to try and adjust but I am not hopeful

@@FamousAndFallen post back here and let me know how it works for you. I’m curious. They won’t be 100% but it might be a little time until you can get the fuck shocks or something better. It definitely improved my ride a little bit.
