Excellent. Went hunting with the wife the other day and I know what you mean. Solo it was fine but with a passenger I felt like I was going to roll over. I will take your advice and keep you posted. Thank you so much for sharing
its amazing! you have defied the physics of a spring! A spring has a constant compression rate, its linear and adjusting the preload like you did, its NOT a suspension tune. You cannot make a spring more or less stiff. The preload adjustment keeps the spring from becoming unseated during full travel that's it. The weight of your 4wheeler overcomes 100% of the tension set by the pre-load. I can with a great certainty tell you that this feeling is all in your head. If you dont agree with me then articulate for me HOW a spring can change its compression rate from adjusting more or less pre-load.
Wow… you should be a physicist for as much thought and care that you put into this comment. I literally showed people how to adjust their coil spring, that’s it. Let’s not overcomplicate this.
if u dont want them so tight to spin, use the other guy to lift the atv on the side that you are adjusting, once the wheel is in the air, they are easier to adjust
If anyone I've ever seen that would be perfect in a viking movie you are the guy.. wow .. I bet nobody messes with you.. haha cheers 🍻 my Nordic brother.. or should I say skal !
I had a 19 570 with the preload set to max on front and back and it was still to soft. Even with the flex2 ( plastic) blade on sometimes it would bottom out on some spots on the road.. try and grab a set of shocks/springs off a full size bike (650-1000cc). Check market place as some install aftermarket and sell the stocks!
This might be a silly questions but when i have a rider on the back it sinks low and sometimes bottom out while riding, will adjusting preload help that?
Got a golf cart with a new lift. Changed the full front end to ifs suspension. Pretty sure my coils are all the way out... no flex at all. If i compress them... with this help with flex and ride? Or should i just find a softer set of coilovers?
Was the lift kit designed for the golf cart and coils designed for the golf cart lift? If the coils are too stiff, they won't compress and offer a nice ride quality. Are the shocks adjustable with a Spanner wrench? Golf carts are not super heavy so if your springs are too stiff and offer no compression, you may need softer springs or adjustable springs.
@@DieselLegiance yes it was made for my 2016 ezgo golf cart. They are adjustable. But looks like they are all the way out already. I was told compressing them may give a softer ride or more flex. But does not sound right to me. Im sure ill end up buying new coilovers 4 it this summer.
Tightening them (compressing) usually makes for a stiffer ride and more rough but I like that. Loose makes more bouncy but good for certain style/conditions of riding. What are you trying to achieve and where/how do you ride?
I’m good but thanks for the insight. I work 7 days a week and film/edit RUclips videos on my days off in between running the kids around, yard work, and other DIY projects. On hot days after running around all day and having a mic right next to my face it just sounds worse than it is lol. I am working out more though to get in better shape 😀
@@DieselLegiance Hey I know a lot about suspension, and you definitely taught me a thing or two. Your content is great, there will aways be so called "haters" because it's just who they are
Probably the best video on RUclips showing how to adjust ATV Coilovers, with awesome tips and tricks!
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks 🙏
Thanks for the tips and for demonstrating the final adjustments. I tried to find it on RUclips, but I found just the adjustments process. 👍🏻🔝
From one big man to another, thank you sir.

Great video! Going to get my first atv ever and I will have this in mind. Thankyou!
They are a ton of fun and they’re useful to have.

@@DieselLegiancebro where can I get this spanner for ELKA legacy ones? I want to lower it but I don’t have the spanner
i have a 2 up and we rode and felt like it was too tight. trails were rough and we were bouncing all over the place. good video.
Great video but add a short extension pipe onto the end of the handle on the spanner wrench for leverage‼️
Absolutely 👍🏼
thks for the vid . tried turning mine . could not . frozen mud. will wait for it to thaw and lube it.

Extremely helpfull thanks bruva
Great dyi video....👍🏻👍🏻
As a 6'3 300lb guy, would you recommend the highest setting? Ive got a can am outlander 570 but id imagine itd be the same
If you want to avoid bottoming out on dips in the trails you can try the highest level. Try a couple levels and see which rides best.

Spanner wrench under the seat in the tool kit

It should help a lot.

Which setting is the best to prevent roll overs , when traversing a hill side ways ?
Did you see a change in ride hight after doing that?
Slight
Do you know what spring weight those are ??
Do you know what size of wrench you used?
Sorry, don’t recall which size it was but I had a wrench set and just grabbed one that lined up.
Jack it up !!
bruh jack up the quad so the weight is off the wheel and it will make that 100% easier
True, but it was rusted pretty good. 👍🏼
I had to do it with vise grips 💀
Why not compress spring to make it easier to turn???
Isn't that what he did?
A spring has a constant compression rate
Wheel base to short .. roll over action..wow ..🤕🤕🤕🥴🥴🥴🥴
lol ... looks exactly the same
It may look close to the same but the ride is different.
because it IS the same. A spring has a constant compression rate.
Some huffing and puffing out of you. Don’t ever go near heavy plant, for your own sake

Watching this guy struggle to adjust his suspension spraying lube talking about jacking it up lol.. dude it's really not this complicated.
Sorry you felt my video wasted your time. I try to make DIY maintenance videos for the average person that may not be as advanced as yourself.
