Glad you liked it
Thank you for sharing video
You’re welcome
Great video mate been fishing around northside Brisbane for over 20 years especially bribie ...watching your videos has definitely showed me the correct way of doing things and definitely what baits and rigs to use these parts of Brisbane thanks mate for your knowledge ....keep the videos up mate really enjoy them!
Anton Samuela most welcome.
As always fantastic video always learn same thing from your videos thanks again
FISH ON most welcome.
I find the best rig for fishing in moreon bay for whiting is a basic sliding rig with a light ball sinker some prawn sometimes with heads and with their shells, I use long shank size 2 from mustad. When I am beach fishing or the current is very strong I will use a sliding dinner rig but with a sliding sinker clip and a star sinker with the exact same hook and leader. oh btw I use 8pound leader which is very heavy but I don't have any other leader right now
Sounds like you’ve been doing that for a long while. Appreciate your advice
Awesome video bro!
Thanks
Just found your videos and i see already a nice old alvey tackle box. love SEQ fishing more so when its nice and sunny.
Adding a edit at the end: another alvey lover im rebuilding my collection upto 9 reels so far and love them just 2 needing parts.
go the alvey.
Always more fun when fish decide to do a run the one to one ratio works a treat.
saph sergal agree completely
GREAT VIDEOS WAYNE
Just want to say those circle containers I’ve only seen once the older type my dad has one and three newer ones
Its an Alvey Bakelite tackle box. Available 2nd hand via Ebay. They are a great size if you want to stay mobile.
Land and Bay Fishing yea I put them in my wading bag
Hi Wayne how are you when I go fishing I go sometime in the bay or the beach I use a hi Lo rig 20 pound leader and two 1/0 circle hooks and a colored beads thanks
Hi Jeffrey, sounds good, what species do you chase?
thanks big fella :)
yew100 most welcome
at what time of day is it high tide in redcliff and also big fan of ur vids cause they've taught me alot about fishing and have helped me massively over the months so good luck and have a great day!
James Erfan WillyWeather is a good App for tides.
Hi Wayne,
Love your video's.
Where's the closest place on the Northside to pump yabbies.
Anthony Archer Banksia beach Bribie.
nice
‘
Hi Mate thanks for the great Tips 👍 Mate I’m just curious do you soak the yabbies in anything when you freeze them
Snapper Rocks they are blanched then vac sealed
Thanks for the tips, help my yearly trips out! Blanched yabbies how do you that mate? Wouldn't mind throwing the odd one out on a slow trip where I can't get em live.
Aussie Mick email that question if you like. It’s a bit long winded for text.
Land and Bay Fishing Cheers.
2020 Golden thank you :-)
Tim Austin most welcome
Hey Fish Harder Awesome Video can you please do a Bream rig video please !!
Your mono line and a very small sinker above your hook will work. If the wind is light don't use any sinker at all for bream.
I see so many people raving over plain old chicken. What do you think? Alot of people reckon they're getting just as good if not better results from the humble chicken than live baits. Sure as hell saves a lot of mucking around finding and looking after live bait.
Chicken works well for some species but it’s not even close to comparing to live bait.
Excellent info Wayne. Do you ever chase them on surface around the peninsula ?
SinkTheBarb no but chase bream on surface often.
What's the logic behind the red plastic? Attractant? Are lumo green/yellow ones any good? Strange that you have to use very light FC leader and then go put a thick red plastic tube over it and the fish seem to like it. I drift fish from a boat and have been using paternoster but this is an interesting rig and I'll be sure to try it next time.
Mr Ed your spot on, it does seem odd. I know that it works having used it for so long. With or without the red tube you will catch fish. Just seem to increase the catch during the tougher times with the red tube.
Great video Wayne!
Just wondering, do you know if the soft plastic worms work for whiting? Is there a technique to fishing them, or do you use them like live worms - cast and wait?
Cheers
They do but not anywhere near as well as live worms. and yes fished the same. With the long trace it gets movement from the current.
You're a legend... Thanks Wayne!
BiddyBot lol. Thanks.
If you want to fish lures for whiting, your best bet is topwater. Try the Bassday Sugapen or the Zippbait Skinny Pop Junior. Light tackle (braid is best but if you're fishing soft plastics you'll know this), try to get the wind behind you so you can cast long, then slow retrieve while flicking the rod tip and if whiting are there they will go for it. Many vids on RUclips of this technique. Good luck and tight lines!
Hey Wayne, what is that top hook? Is it offset or just long shank? Couldn't tell thanks
Russell Hambly size 4 True Turn.
Cheers with your worms are garden worms fine or will they die quickly due to the salt water? TIA
I don’t use garden worms in salt water. They will work in fresh.
Great video Wayne. Just wondering if you can still catch a few whiting just before the full moon in September or is it best to wait to just after the full moon in September that is the 25th? My family’s going up to Noosa for the holidays and I was just wondering if the fishing would still be good just before the full moon? Also if we are further north will the whiting come on a few days earlier? Cheers.
UnBelievable the whiting are already turning up here and there. I’m just set in my ways. Chase bream and flatty until the moon in September.
Thanks
UnBelievable hahah I’m going down to Tallebudgera with my new alvey and some other rods I want a big flathead
Good luck. If you check out Sand Flats Fishing Australia, his early video's were from that area. He moved to nth coast of NSW but has recently stopped making vids.
where do you think is the best flatty fishing spot in brisbane and redcliff because I am having a hard time finding spots
Martin Sarmady there are many that work okay but each spot varies based on weather, tides etc. in a northern try Hays Inlet. Southern Scarborough and western Scotts pt up to Queens Beach. Hays on the last 3 hours. Scarborough the same and Scotts to Queens Beach anytime on a run out.
@@Wayne.Groomes.Fishing thanks really appreciate it
Go the old Alvey box ,
Alvey all day or nothing
Yep love the alvey gear.
the bait wayne suggested are the best baits.....fasure......but at times i haven,t the time to collect them so i cut thin strips of bullock heart and a little red bead above the hook
Will give it a go.
Do worms work for salt water whiting?
Garden worms won’t but the worms you dig from salt water areas absolutely do. Worms you buy from bait shops also come from salt water areas
I learned what a Yabbie is..
‘
Zcool
Thanks
Best tide for whiting on the flats mate?
Just as the flats flood through to high.
@@Wayne.Groomes.Fishing so which part of incoming tide?
Can u catch good whiting in August
Absolutely, all year round. Just easier in the Sumer.
i still reckon live yabbies trumps all baits for whiting in southern estuaries by far
They are a great bait. No question.
How do you blanche yabbies
contact me via messenger for details. Prefer not to post publicly.
@@Wayne.Groomes.Fishing just wondering why is it a secret on how to blanch yabbies ? Thanks
Earth worms?
No. Earth worms don’t last in salt water
overcomplicated , small prawns can be cut into 4 with all parts used as bait, never buy frozen yabbies that fall off if you sneeze
stevencox75 thanks for the feedback. Have never purchased frozen yabbies just blanched my own leftovers.
