- All explained in the vid with commentary, this is my BEGINNER'S GUIDE in Final Fantasy 7 Remake on how to defeat 1 of the many the Chapter 17 bosses, JENOVA DREAMWEAVER on HARD mode easily! I showcase the build as well as my personal preferred method to beat as well how to have full MP ready for it and for Arsenal later!

I found using Tifa’s Starshower on Jenova’s Left and Right Tentacles to be a useful attack.
If you equip protective boots this is one of the easiest bosses in the game

@@FrostTdotAll three party members. You should have 4x Protective Boots minimum (2x from Normal playthrough and 2x from Hard playthrough). You get them in Chapter 8 as a side quest/odd job reward for "Budding Bodyguard," and you can find another pair in a chest in Chapter 14 when chasing the Mischievous Shoat.
With your entire party immune to Stop and a Steadfast Block + HP Up on everyone, this fight is a joke. Use Aerith to heal up with Prayer whenever needed to save MP for Arsenal. I also gave her Time + Magnify to keep the entire party Haste'd whenever I didn't need to spend ATB on Prayer. You can restore MP with Soul Drain and also bump her DPS with Fleeting Familiar. Also give Aerith Subversion Materia to Breach Jenova's Reflect barrier it puts up during "Rejection" so you can keep attacking it with her while your AI companions will automatically hang back blocking to avoid triggering the automatic counterattack.
Cloud's Triple Slash works great for attacking into Jenova while also crippling the Right and Left tentacles, as well as killing the standalone floor tentacles in the later phase. Tifa should use Starshower on Jenova and Divekick on the floor tentacles. Also make sure to bring Poison Materia (probably on Cloud) to Bio at the start of the battle.

YOU ARE MY LIFESAVER, I've watched many guide but most of them are focusing on doing the most offence and no healing at all, I was so frustrated thinking there are two more boss fights waiting for me and I tried ur build and nailed it in two tries. Instead of casting manawall with Cloud, I cast barrier instead as Cloud only had 33 MP entering the battle 😅. Just barrier worked and by the end of the fight, Cloud still had 33 MP as MP slowly regenerates in battle. I also put revive on Aerith since there was a materia slot available and I actually needed it once to revive Tifa.

Thanks man. Another one completed on the first try thanks to you. I did put the boots on Cloud as another suggested, but that's about all I did differently. I got lucky; Jenova wasn't very liberal with the big attacks in my fight which gave me a chance to be patient, focused strikes to build ATB, and keep up with prayer. I had to be a bit stingy w/ Cloud's MP though, and had to cast simple barrier a few times.

Got her on first try!! But it was absolutely messy lol. Both tifa and cloud died on the last phase! But i just did whatever i could.

Always nice to see new videos uploaded to your channel. Jenova gave me a kind of a hard time but I managed to beat that boss. Your guide makes it look really easy though :D. Amazing job as always.

Was so afraid of this boss, and I did mess up. I had the wrong pendent (turned me into frog) so i played without cloud the whole fight. Wanted to restart but i said i will try without him. I don't know how but I did only with aerith. Hide behind covers then long range attack.. First time and it was really not hard.
It was satisfying.

I've used your videos to help me through this hardmode run before digging into Rebirth, but man, I think I hit my limit. The way you got to set up before going through hard mode was enough of a grind. I mean, this boss is already tough asf. As MAXed out as I am with all characters and materia how is this boss still cheap. The balance of some bosses really depends on what materia you have equipped and even then some wreak you. That ruins the flow of the game for me especially after spending countless hrs grinding and preparing for a hardmode run. Sorry for my rant. Loved your tips and strategies, but I think I'm moving on to rebirth. I wouldn't have gotten as far as i did without your help. Thanks.
Edit: Okay I got my head on straight and decided to go at it again while listening to every single detail pausing if I needed and it took me 3 tries to beat Jenova. Thanks again.
I'm in the same boat, I'm trying to finish hard because I know I'm not going to want to dig deep into this game's mechanics after they've been improved and added upon in the sequels. Before 3 comes out I can just fly through on easy getting all the enemy skills for the plat and a final run.
It is a damn slog though man. I wouldn't even mind having to change the setup before every fight, but when there are several fights in a row after going through levels that are extremely tedious once the novelty wears off, it's really disheartening.
Hopefully we'll finish chapter 18 today so we can start in on Rebirth! Good luck yo

I managed to complete hardmode and needed 3 trophies to get plat, dressed to the nines, whack a box wunderkind and ultimate weapon. I decided to move forward with rebirth since I felt satisfied enough after hardmode. Tho I might and that's a big might, go back to remake to wrap things up. Maybe after my first rebirth run.

I cleared hard, all I need for the plat is Jessie's kiss, the dresses, and a few more enemy skills. I decided I'm just going to wait until part 3 comes out and run through the story one more time on easy, then get the plat for Rebirth, and then stay on part 3 until that one's completely done. Gives me a chance to experience part 1 one last time, I doubt I'll play these again for a very long time afterward.
Congrats on beating hard mode though, that last third was no joke 💪

I do believe hellhouse is the wall that stops most on hard mode, after that fight there's little else at this fight that will be a major problem. Have I just gotten lucky?

Loved this fight. Hard mode really was the best playthrough.
Um I don't know how but I beat him without a great deal of trouble. No magnify barrier manawall etc, I just attacked the tentacles and arms and used prayer and revive when needed and done.
Right as I was ending the fight they siphons clouds magic away from him 🤦🏻♂️

Anyone know how he is bringing up the boss info panel? The bit where it tells you weakness etc. I didnt know you could do that without assess materia
You can bring it up still I think, just some things are not filled in, I've likely already assessed these btw.

@@Optinooby so it turns out you can do it by pressing the touch pad! Ofcourse to get the info you have to assess first
Maybe it’s the way I play but Weiss and the summons are cake to me but her and Rufus on hard mode are tough. I found her to be harder than them I clear Weiss in 52 seconds but cannot beat her on hard lol.
Weiss is easy compared to this crap, I honestly found this fight the most annoying as well.
The fight is just a mess and so its very hard to incorporate any focused and directed strategy, all you can do here is survive and improvise along the way while applying some basic strategies
Nice relief though once ya get it done.
I personally spent hours on it this trying to strategise it like the rest, and this is all i could come up with, this is the 1 that beat me ;(
Saying that though, Ive not tried the new Synergy with it and ive not tried 3 x Gotterdammerungs which you can now get with the DLC, they could change the fight up......
Why does your Tifa have so much HP? As soon as I make it to the third phase the tentacles will sneak attack lasers and kill off my party.
So what do I do if I don't have that many HP and MP ups?
Then you need to get them mate, this fight is so messy I hate it. If you watched some of my other fights, u know how clean they are, but this boss is just a mess
@@Optinooby I am not about to spend a whole 30 hours trying to max out some more HP and MP ups. It took a whole playthrough on Normal just to max one. I managed to beat it anyway today. Took 4 more tries.
@@s-wo8781 It shouldn't take that long actually, after your first playthrough you get twice as much AP for all your materia. You can also link AP Up materia to any materia to get 100% more AP. I recommend loading up the beginning of chapter 17 and using the Shinra VR high flyers fight to grind AP. Just do the first 2 fights and then give up + repeat to get your materia levelled up very quickly.
how did you make tifa get her limit at the beginning?
Gotterdammerung, I recommend doing brutal sims before hard mode

Why does aerith need mp up if she’s got no spells?
she is using nothing at all? how can she have no spells. doesnt this fight lead into another?

Hardest fight so far on the whole of hard mode :/ I hate the guides on the Internet as well saying stuff like it doesn't it hard...it throws a spear that always one shots.
I got to the tentacles phase first attempt but everytime someone went down the person casting the raise spell would get one shot. When it's a a cycle of that over and over its probably best to just give up.
I'll try with manawall this time and try to block more. Again I think the fury rings here are working against me

Almost all the other bosses, although a bit difficult, can be done cleanly when you get the strategy down, this one though, for me, is just a massive clusterf**k

I can't recall exactly what I do here, but I think I went for a tanky strategy here due to how messy the fight is
@@Optinooby I've tried all sorts of things...manawall is 20mp everytime so can't keep casting it. People say if u equip the protective boots (to prevent stop) that it's the easiest hard mode boss. I did that and still got destroyed so yeah nope.
The best success I've had in boss fights is all reprieve weapons and revival rings so I might go back yo that but absolutely this is the hardest boss battle in the game on hard mode so far. I got through all the shinra challenges and got gotterdamerung and this is way harder than all of that
None of my strategies work?? I cast something to prevent stop, can't remember the name of it
@@Optinooby fk I did it damn. Went back to all reprieve weapons, and gotterdamerung on aerith. The planets protections were a big help i think too. One main issue i think is cause I don't really know how to use tifa (I hate using her in fact). Controlling cloud I like for some reason or he's just better period. Triple slash is really good against the tentacles. Stuck bio on tifa did one cast and just kept recasting bio with her otherwise just had her AI controlled the whole time. Gave her provoke and auto cure as well just in case cloud went low ad aerith didnt have 2 atb bars (why does everyones bar you dont control fill up slowly but hers moreso than anyone and they all have steadfast block). Cloud only has 20 mp left though cause I used 3 manawalls. Hopefully that's enough for the next battle. I guess you just do what you feel comfortable with. I know you're good with tifa but when I use her she gets flung everywhere and her hit box is tiny. I think jenova healed btw because after my final push he was left with such a small slither of health and then all the tentacles came back up :/ when I went back it was slightly higher :/ my heart was racing lol "don't you dare wipe everyone"
I think that I still have rufus and the arsenal and the arsenal was probably the second most hardest battle I fought tbh. Kinda rough if there's no mako shard boxes to save scum now

Jenova is the hardest out of them all due to how messy it is.
Arsenal isn't that bad, there are ways to get MP back, either during or before, I don't recall the ways that I outline in my platinum walkthrough.
If you do get really low on MP on Arsenal, Aerith has a skill that grants a small amount of MP. Though it's good to have at least some, with Barret as well because Lightning lv 3 works really well on it, especially in the Arcane Ward
Tifa is tricky to use, but she is honestly a beast when you get used to her, have you seen my Top Secrets or Weiss fights, she is unstoppable. It's because Tifa is the only teammate that has a skill that costs ATB, but also gains ATB!! It's make her very good with the ATB that grants gauges to teammates, I forget the name
Rufus is easy btw, if you get stuck on him, just check out my video, I think a few attacks and he is over. Can't recall exactly, but I think I put one of them to sleep while I take care of the other
