Excellent review Ken! I’m so motivated to go out on RSD and grab this release, big fan of Lateef’s music. I’ll be waiting for your review of Sonny’s. Thank you very much for great videos!
I was eyeballing the RSD Lateef, glad to hear it is a good one. Yusef seems to be one of those artists that got a interest revival in the last few years. What is the other live Lateef, Live at Pep’s? Thats the first Yusef I heard. Love it. Sounds like this one is another great live set 😎 Such a unique and interesting artist. Fidelity wise a winner also Ken?
Ken, I will be looking for this, because I’m a huge Yusef Lateef fan. If you ever get the chance, please do a story on Billy Harper, who is an incredible sax player that never got his proper dues. I think Harper is arguably as good as John Coltrane. I believe he is with the cookers now and his albums are very hard to find.
Billy Harper was soul brother number one for a few years. Kind of a big star back in the day. It's amazing how some stuff gets forgotton and other stuff stays in the limelight
On one occasion Tootie said, in a tongue and cheek way, "Fuck Kenny Barron. Plays too long. Up there playing a shuffle. Head tilted to the side, eyes closed. Get a nut and get out!" Lol. Tootie is one of the shockingly funniest people on earth. Pronounced Ku-umba - 3 syllables. If you were lucky enough to catch the the Heath brothers live, Jimmy would introduce him as Albert Tootie Ku-umba Heath!
Thanks for Highlighting Yusef Lateef. Us Detroiters are very proud to have him from Our Great City!!!
Detroit is the best city to play music in. The best audience in all the world
I really love Yusef Lateef's work. Very influential. Apart from tenor sax and flute, he also uses the oboe to great effect.
I like Yussef Lateef CTI album Autophysiophysic. The track called Robot Man is a knock out played loud on a Klipsch La Scala
Thanks Ken! I am a Yusef Lateef addict and have just about everything he released. Will need to make room for this one!
Great news ! I'm a Yusef Lateef's fan. Thank you Ken !
Detroiters are everywhere! You to Ken!

Nice content Ken.I like your Tee shirt.
Can't wait for this and the Sonny Rollins releases😊
what can we say about Zev.. I'm not an out there guy at all, but you have provided enough of your wisdom for me to attempt getting this one.. Ty
Good to know the recording is legit, I feel as if some of these rsd jazz recordings won’t sound as they should.
Ken anything about the legality of this record, and is it really approved by the yusef lateef fund?

I can’t play it through my big rig obviously but it sounds good on computer speakers

@@Joe-yi8xj I’m aware of the history, but he was never as big as Coltrane, but equally talented.
Is there a way to listen to samples?
Some albums may have a single truck online somewhere
Er... I know this is heretical but can you get it on CD? It'll be half the price and my stylus might need replacing.
I believe all the record store releases come out on CD one or two weeks after April 20
