Fantastic RSD preview, and really helpful. I've wasted so much money on past RSD titles that seem pretty appealing but end up being duds. Thanks for weeding some of them out and pointing us to the more worthwhile titles. Enjoy your weekend!

Thanks, Ken. I love your Tube-clips. I was in the shop on Wednesday and picked up the Mosaic Bud Powell Blue note box. It was nice seeing Mr. Cohen. Wish you'd have been there.

I particularly like these in-depth reviews. Even if it's not my music, I enjoy hearing the descriptions. Thanks Ken!

Thanks for waving me off of the Chet record. I would've taken a flyer on it, but I've got too many great records I don't listen to enough.... I loved your French pronunciations in the first few minutes... no fear!

Thank goodness they sent these to you Ken. I get so tired of spinning the RSD Jazz Wheel Of Chance. I know which three I will be eyeballing to snag 👍🏻
    Much thanks for the review!

That's a great descriptor, the "RSD Wheel of Chance." I've bought so many RSD titles that seemed appealing but ended up being duds. Most of them aren't available to preview on streaming, so it really is a wheel of chance. Happily, we have Ken to point us toward the winners and away from the duds.

Dear Ken; just one question. What’s your gear/ setup? Turntable, cartridge MC), pre phono, amplifier(s), speakers?
    Best regards

Ken - thanks for the detailed reviews of the RSD titles. Regarding the Yusef Lateef show, how much is saxy vs flutey? I will buy regardless, but more into his sax work. Also I have found the INA shows to be well recorded (digital or not) - I have the Grant Green RSD “Funk in France” that is also INA that I love.

Jack Sheldon did not play in the Tonight Show Orchestra, but rather on the bandstand of The Merv Griffin Show, where he often interacted with Merv.

Hey Ken not sure if your down with the first Jack Sheldon Lp's 10" "Get Out Of Town" and "Quintet" from 1955/56 with guys like Zoot Sims,Joe Maini,Lawrence Marable,Walter Norris et al.Some of the best West Coast. Before the cheesy stuff or his short lived TV series "Run Buddy Rub: a bad comical take on the series :The Fugitive" and all the cheese he produced latter. But as with Herb Alpert or Dave Grusin don;t blame his but us for wanting this slop.

Very cool. No doubt he’s a great talent, just seems an odd choice for a foil with Chet Baker.

@@kenmicallefjazzvinylaudiop6455 yeah well they were bros- Remember in the bio flick about Chet Sheldon recalls how he was about to bed down some chick but before he could slip in the dark room Chet beat him to punch. He said "She was always really nice to me after that"- oh I forgot to mention Kenny Drew was on that Jazz West LP too and got an LP out of it for his group Both rare as Hen's Teeth but not as covered as one with Lawrence Marble "Tenorman" with the criminally under rated James Clay on sax I sold my copy for &2500 and got that price 20 years ago when the CD came out (also had Sonny Clark and Lorraine Gelker on keys)

If you don't know already, Sam Records out of Paris recently released the previously unissued, "The Heath Brothers Live in Paris in '76". Also a fantastically recorded album with the complete Smilin Billy Suite on the B Side. Wicked stuff!
