Skyrim isn't backwards compatible because they wanted you to buy the special edition, which is why even after Xbox bought Bethesda it still isn't backwards compatible. I believe most of the 360 games that aren't backwards compatible are mostly due to that, in other words they were rereleased/remastered/Xbox one version was released from the start or there might be licensing issues.
I wouldn't say you got "scammed" outside of the Switch and fake headphones. Yes some items weren't in good shape but really you got the pawn shop experience. Pawn Shops function off the foundation of usually overcharging by $10+ for the convenience of getting it immediately. They're literally the convenience stores of eBay/Amazon.
Not really much of a mod though because it fits in directly without modding anything. You just have to replace the fan with a quieter fan, and that's it. Unlike the PHAT PS2, and GameCube where you need brackets to fit the fan in the case.
15:32 lol, I got a Sony A57 DSLR for $20 from a pawn shop, complete with lens. They lost the charger and it was sold "as-is", and when I popped the battery out I noticed it was a modified InfoLithium M pack, and on a hunch I bought it because I still have my Digital 8 HandyCam that charges those packs. Using the HandyCam as a battery charger, I confirmed the A57 works flawlessly, and it now supplements the $150 Nikon D5100 I got maybe six years ago as "broken", when it really had a convincing counterfeit battery installed. Installed a genuine Nikon battery and the camera worked brilliantly. Just 2 years prior to scoring the D5100, my dad bought a D3100 kit new for $550, so I considered myself rather lucky. My camera had a decently low shutter count once it powered on, likely due to the bad battery. It otherwise looked brand new, which is mostly why I got it.
Now I'm nervous... because I just bought a mint condition one X on eBay for $200 him saying 180 is a suspicious doesn't make me feel good Here's the cherry on top the one I bought... is a project Scorpio edition
16:44 Those shots are great, especially given how old the camera is. Old Sony cameras were quite good, and hold up relatively well to this day. It's no brand new iPhone when it comes to photo quality, but still good enough for non-photographers.

Some games are still playable online for the Dreamcast via the Broadband Adapter through private servers, such as Phantasy Star Online, Toy Racer, and Quake III Arena.
its not a 30+ GB update, but you are actually downloading the digital version of the xbox360 game, see the console isnt truely BW in the normal sense. But when you put the disc in it downloads an updated version of the game with an emulator wrapper so that the console can play it.
Ugh that kills me when I saw a boxed dreamcast I was like $104! for a boxed one! Then you opened it and it was certainly an "in box" Dreamcast lmao. What model was it?
What's hilarious is that you can buy a dreamcast here in aus for around $150-$170 usd, complete with games, controllers etc, or a Japanese one for half that. But people are selling the boxes alone for $100+ 😂
As a owner of a Dreamcast since it first came out, and still running, they are not quiet, both the gd-rom and fan are quite noticeable. They also do yellow quite a bit.
00:50 Those aren't sold listings, they're still active (as of the video production). You have to look at sold listings because anyone can start them at a high bid and still not sell them.
I own that exact model of camera lol. The only issue I had with it, is that the lens mechanism can malfunction and then it renders the entire camera useless. This happens when sand, dirt or grit gets inside the lens mechanism. It's not a camera design flaw, as this issue can be easily avoided by always keeping the camera in its case when not in use. Great video Austin. Keep it up!!
I have one tucked away in one of my living room units. It's not a bad little camera for quick shots with a decent optical zoom. Mobile phones have definitely made a lot of the smaller pocket cameras like this obsolete though because even with a digital zoom, the fact that most phones are 3-4 times the pixel count more than makes up for that.
I find so many good things at pawn shops. Lots of cameras, gaming stuff, electronics, etc. Just got an Xbox Series X for 200 and a Macbook Pro M1 for 250 (they messed up the OS and couldnt get it working, i just cleared it and re-loaded the OS and sold for 700)
I got a free mac mini from work. I believe it is a 2014 model. Had some issues with the os and it wouldnt reinstall so i ended up putting windows 10 on it to run emulators for my kiddos. It runs pretty good considering.
Dreamcasts used to have an issue where they would randomly reset (something to do with the solder on the PSU being jenky I think) when I worked for Gamestation if anyone was trading one in we had to play it for fifteen minutes continuously to check if it had the issue. One weekend the main warehouse was all “yeah send that store every Dreamcast we’ve got in stock for the lols) I was tasked with sitting behind the counter with a little portable TV and a stack of dreamcasts and playing each one for 15-20 minutes to ensure it was suitable to sell. That weekend was great. I remember a dude going ape shit at the manager because it was busy and he’d been in the queue for ages and one of the staff was just sat playing games instead of helping him. The manager said “yeah, that’s his job.” The guy was shocked and asked how he could get paid to play video games. Sometimes I do miss that place!
I remember getting a PS3 from a pawn shop and when I tested it, the console had YLOD. When I returned it, I told the guy it had YLOD and he thought I was out of my mind because he didn't know what a YLOD meant, the guy then tested it and I heard the 3 beeps from YLOD and he had a good 2 cracks at starting it up. Then he told me it worked in order to convince me that the YLOD was a coincidence. He still accepted the return thankfully.
Surely if things don’t work they can be returned so not technically scammed? In the UK you’d most certainly be able to return non working items to a pawn shop 👍🏻

My friends back in 3rd grade showed me some amnesia video and watching you now it just shows me exactly where I want to be and what I hope to do in life. I bought my latest laptop at a pawn shop. Is a HP envy 15” convertible laptop. Originally, they were asking for $400. I offered $300, they shot back $350. Said nah, walked to the truck and right as I was shifting into reverse to back out, the guy came out and said they would take $300. Not a bad deal for a Ryzen 5 4500u laptop I’m pretty good condition.
I know pawn shops can be pretty shady but they really shouldn't be selling obvious counterfeit products. The max knock offs are fine because they aren't actually saying they are apple products but those fake beats? That feels like selling those is probably illegal unless the shop was upfront about them being fakes. Especially since those don't look like trade ins but stuff they are buying themselves and reselling which is double shady.
That Dreamcast reminded me of one of the best deals I have ever gotten... I worked in electronics at Sears, they were throwing out the display for our Dreamcast and I was able to get a functioning Dreamcast (w/out the modem...online gaming was still years away from being a big thing for consoles so I was like "meh, who cares") with controller for the low low price of TWENTY BUCKS. This was when the Dreamcast was still doing well on the market too, they were just doing away with the playable displays for consoles. I got so many good deals on electronics while I worked there
@@thearousedeunuch Matt would like this one.... a laser disc player. Back in the early 2000s I got a boxed Dreamcast with games and extra controllers from a flea market for $10. When he showed the listings I wish I kept the box. Sears must have been fun to work at.
I really miss the point-and-shoot digital camera era. It makes me wonder what is out there for honestly really good digital cameras since the sensors and technology in a flagship smartphone is unreal. With that fact, a decent non DSLR digital camera should honestly pack a real punch in today's world. As much as the convenience of taking photos on my phone is amazing, there truly isn't anything like pulling out the camera for your memories. Taking selfies without knowing what was in the frame and laughing at the failed attempts. I would be totally interested in a $400-$600 non DSLR digital camera with on-par or better technology than a modern flagship phone. Ultra-crisp and touch-screen OLED, true optical zoom, great aperture and sensors, awesome low-light modes. I think for the photographer on the go, or the non-professional that wants great shots without the bulk of a DSLR around your neck the whole way, it could be a great middle ground. I'm sure it exists, I just haven't gone looking for a digital camera in over a decade...
Great video, Austin! May I suggest creating some "thrifting tech" episodes? Not the Goodwill online store; that's too easy! In person from different shops in different socioeconomic areas just to see what treasures can be found for next to nothing. Keep up the great work!
Do they still sell tech in goodwill stores? I’ve only been to 2-3 within the last 4-5 years and they’ve had literally nothing. I figured they sold all the tech online
@@FetidafOnce in a while I’ve found some real treasure: an old 286 “laptop” a few Mac 512/Pluses, iMacs upon iMacs, an LCII, even an ancient Apple ][ +. I would be inclined to agree. I bought my last three generations of consoles at pawn shops, I never buy one without testing it thoroughly in the shop first.
13:00 Skyrim prolly wasn't made backwards compat cause bethesda tried to sell more copies of the xbox one version by pushing an xbox one x enhanced update for it. Which actually really hurt the performance improvements users got from using the one x, introduced bugs that needed to be fixed by modders and broke alot of already existing mods making them need updates.
You say audio has gotten better over the years...but the best audio I've ever had on a laptop is the Toshiba Qosmio back in the Core2Duo days. Had projected surround sound with a built-in HK system, it sounded INCREDIBLE and the projected surround was flawless.
This is why you pay with credit card, so when you realize a product is a scam, you can dispute the charge and not have to pay for junk. NOTE: Unless you signed something that said the products might be reproductions and not authentic.
Should isntall one of those super cheap 2Tb SATA III SSD's into the One X to see if it helps make the system feel snappier or games load faster. I was wondering if I could install a budget SATA III SSD and notice any differences.
The only electronic stuff I ever find at pawn shops around here are things like phones or monitors from 20+ years ago. No matter how many I've been to, I never find any cool stuff, not even broken versions of cool stuff.
I own a pawn shop and even though it's not long I give a 5 day warranty on everything except jewelry. I also try to clean most systems good as I can. I will take systems apart and at least clean the dust out. Anything white is cleaned with clorox.
We literally got 4 Sony Cybershots out of a storage box in the computer room for the kids to play around with. They're having a great time and the cameras suprisingly hold up pretty well.
@Austin Evans yes the sega dreamcast is still online you should do a video connecting it and playing it online quake 3 arena and phantasy star online are still active they cross platform with pc
The whole design anchor of the Switch is that it seamlessly transitions from a home console to a portable one. It’s why it’s named the Switch. It’s the entire point of the device. So the Switch Lite isn’t even capable at all of its principal design function. The fact that the regular switch is capable of being both handheld and home console, is slightly larger for better visibility and capable of swapping joy cons or other 3rd party joycon alternatives and costs only about 50 bucks more than the Lite makes the Switch Lite not only not the best version of the switch but a completely useless and stupid iteration of it period.
I still have my launch Dreamcast and the system was never quiet, not even the disc drive. Also you can still get the system online and even play PSO online too. But why would you want to do that only then to say you can do it.
all pawn shops are a scam. walked in during he height of PS4 selling mine with 2 controllers and 6 games. the console itself, they were selling for $295. They offered me $20 for the whole package and wouldnt budge. Took it to another shop selling console for $325. They offered $15 for all and wouldnt budge.
LGR does Goodwill and DankPods Cashies but I wouldn't mind Austin doing Goodwill Too!
There’s always tonnes of Wiis, Xbox 360s, PS2 & 3s and even the occasional N64. This is in Vancouver BC, but I expect Los Angeles to have considerably more!

Uhh Dreamcasts were not known to be quiet when reading the disc.
like how Austin acts like he knows what hes talking about
A tech channel that does not know the tech.
It’s been a while since I’ve watched Austin, I’m glad to be back lol
Who'd ever take a switch out of a store without demanding a button test
At least triggers and bumpers are moderately easy to repair
I would be inclined to agree. I bought my last three generations of consoles at pawn shops, I never buy one without testing it thoroughly in the shop first.
I love this series so much. Please don't stop😅
austin's frustration over updates is the realest
All the Pawn Shops in my area have ZERO returns lol
Man I'm going through kidney stones pain at the moment and your videos calm me down!
This is why you pay with credit card, so when you realize a product is a scam, you can dispute the charge and not have to pay for junk. NOTE: Unless you signed something that said the products might be reproductions and not authentic.
Love this man vids fr fr
16:44 the MySpace picture quality uploads 😂😂
Remember, kids, don't be Austin And actually test the things you're gonna buy.

For protecting Austin from a potential fire
Ahh dreamcasts. The only system that plays burned games with no mod chips needed.
Austin's frustration level rising in some areas of this video were funny and relatable.
if i wanted to watch non working tech finds, i would of watched “austin evans shopping at a pawn shop”
5:38 That transition though!
I own a pawn shop and even though it's not long I give a 5 day warranty on everything except jewelry. I also try to clean most systems good as I can. I will take systems apart and at least clean the dust out. Anything white is cleaned with clorox.
Austin’s uploads are on fire lately
That movie you got in the mini is a classic one. So many great actors in it.
We literally got 4 Sony Cybershots out of a storage box in the computer room for the kids to play around with. They're having a great time and the cameras suprisingly hold up pretty well.
Dreamcast's are NEVER quiet.
YOU PAID $50 FOR THE P9s!? I ONLY PAID $5!
@Austin Evans yes the sega dreamcast is still online you should do a video connecting it and playing it online quake 3 arena and phantasy star online are still active they cross platform with pc
You can find decent items for repair at a pawn shop, you can usually get a “broken” laptop for $20 or so.
Love the channel! Did anyone ever tell you " dude be looking like Gilbert Godfrey!!" 8:15 fake Beats Clip
0:18 I recognize that pawn shop lol it's always strange to see local areas pop up
You definitely gotta do some deep cleaning on some these products especially the Dreamcast
That camera feed was way better than I expected lol
How is a console that is dumbed down and missing features the "best version" of the switch?
I still have my launch Dreamcast and the system was never quiet, not even the disc drive. Also you can still get the system online and even play PSO online too. But why would you want to do that only then to say you can do it.
You always ask to try shit at the pawn shop if they don’t let you, it’s a scam
4:02 same specs as a 2013 iMac base model baseball might’ve had a little bit more storage though on the iMac besides, that same specs
13:03 yeah Xbox began removing games from the backwards compatibility list >:(
all pawn shops are a scam. walked in during he height of PS4 selling mine with 2 controllers and 6 games. the console itself, they were selling for $295. They offered me $20 for the whole package and wouldnt budge. Took it to another shop selling console for $325. They offered $15 for all and wouldnt budge. Finally sold em on facebook marketplace for $350 total.
They are only for people who are desperate. Thiefs, drug addicts, low income, who will take any offer for quick cash.
My Sega Sports Dreamcast doesn't fire up that fast. Pretty sure it needs a new laser. I've turned the potentiometer and got it to work sometimes but it's old. I was a Dreamcast kid, I didn't get a PSOne because they were sold out, but the Dreamcast wasn't and im glad i got that experience when it came out because its an insane console
I usually shop at goodwill and usually never have any issues
