I was at Final Kombat because I live just down the street from the venue. There were maybe 100 people TOPS at this event. I love MK and been a fan of the franchise for close to 30 years. Never been to a pro gaming event IRL before but this was SAD to see how few people show up to a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP.
The cult around Ed Boon's name is just weird man. Like what good did he actually do for MK fans in the last 8 years?

i like johnny cage being a goof and cracking jokes, it reminds me of the 1995 film version and to me that's a good thing.....but tbh i've never remembered him being any different......and the 1995 films is really what gave the mk characters their original personalities which ed boone would continue using going forward.

It’s a picture of NRS/WB employees. I’m not surprised that the people in the picture know details about mk1 because it’s their job. Why does the community manager always look like a homeless person? He walked on stage during the event looking for change from the audience to buy food.

First off Mortal Kombat will never be dead as long as they keep making more games. We love to pay and play them as a community. We can give feedback on anything we payed for. A lot of people who enter tournaments have very good hand eye coordination. Pros learn a combo and other casuals will copy the combo and think they are good. We play games for fun without having any competition. Some of these developers create the works of the Devil and get paid for it. Even though there is negativity in the game they are not allowed to comment about it, or they can be fired. They must praise and care about the game regardless of what the condition of the game is in. Most of us are in our 50’s who played MK from the beginning. Wish we had the Krypt and Konquest modes but not towers anymore. Too much grinding in the tower modes. Ed Boon took over, but Tobias said it would be difficult to succeed alone with the pressure of being solo after I leave.

Unpopular opinion: from a fight mechanic standpoint, even MK9 was shit. Stiff, rugged, janky movements ever since this game. It honestly feels like MKX with less rush down. Compare it to Tekken 6 or SF4 during the time, these were leagues ahead in terms of refined fighting.
I hate E-Sports impact on games.
All too frequently they push for changes at the expense of fun or lore.
Just adds an extra layer of nonsense above all the layers of corporate bullshit plagueing games.

You're talking about how homelander took away half your health and you're complaining about unbalance, did we forget about Cyrax and Smoke in MK9? And that's arguably the best MK game, if you're saying MK1 is unfair and unbalanced then you have no idea what you're talking about. Balance in a fighting game is overrated, some of the best and most beloved fighting games ever made are unbalanced and unfair.
Explain why MK9 is loved by 99% of MK fans and MK1 isnt? And u ppl love bringing up those cyrax smoke combos from a fighting game 13 years old in an early era of online gaming, patching and balancing where the skill gap to perform the insane stuff was way higher above the average player. The "pro" bubble aint the real world
@@FightAllThyEnemies the story, roster and gameplay. But I can guarantee if MK9 came out today that it wouldn't be as loved as it is now, people would complain about how unbalanced the game is. Literally half the roster of the game is unplayable, and I bet you they could have patched the game more if they wanted to. Why weren't Cyrax's bomb ever changed to being blockable? And just like you see with every fighting game at the highest level, there are only a handful of characters that are only played. And the only real skill gap in MK9 was Kabal, he was pretty hard to play.

It's just that most people don't like the kameo system and that's what the game is built around, I like game but I wouldn't say that's it's my favorite. MK9 is still the GOAT!!!!

anyways, more importantly… the Krypt is so over rated, Invasions is dog water I know but the Krypt is also dead boring. all I ever did with Krypts is look up where the costumes were and buy them ones, that was it. the rest is filler that I really don’t care about. MK11 Krypt was cool because of the puzzles to progress further but after that… nowt, run round and open boxes for some concept art. personally, not a fan but if I had to choose between Krypt or Invasions, give my Krypt any day
