I'm glad it was helpful and thank you for the kind comment. Please give this video a thumbs up and share my channel to help it grow! It would be greatly appreciated.
For the grease fitting on the wheels to do any good now you need to pull the inside cover off of the bearings so that the grease can get into the bearing. Did that with the deck spindle bearings.
I love your instructional videos, very clear and easy to follow. I have already done the oil filter conversion and will now attempt this upgrade. Thanks.
You make it look so easy. I am worried my LA165 will need new axles as it has 325 hours on it. Going to order the bushing and needle thrusters but worried that I'll take it off and have to replace the axles. Those sound like a tricky and expensive fix.
Thanks for the video. I have an L110. I'm going to take some measurements to see if this same Needle Roller Bearing kit will work for me. These steer hard. Anything that helps will be welcome. Thanks again!
This kit should work. To keep steering from getting stiff, make sure your tire pressure is at max on the tire. It should be 14psi. Also keep front end greased.
@@JohnsonsSmallEngines Thanks for the reply. I have Locust trees with big thorns. I picked up a set of hard rubber front tires at Northern Tool. Steers much easier. And no more flat front tires. Tread seams to be lasting much longer too. Had to go with the green slime in the rears.
If you have grease fittings in the from inner front hubs, you have bushings. If you do not have grease fittings, then you should have the ball bearings. I think they went back to the bearings in end of 2023 into 2024.
Nice job. I had to grind off a bit of the right front side for the needle bearings from the casting. Interesting to see similar issue on this E130 as well. I never thought of switching the washers from the front axle though.
Next Spring I'll order the Tuff Torque Hydrostatic upgrade with 1 inch shafts. I tow my boat with the L130 and pull my motorcycle trailer with big BMW tourer up a hill. I can sell my current transmission to reduce cost of the kit.
Absolutely top upgrades, this! I already got the wheel bearings when you showed that earlier, and will definitely get the needle bearings as well. Shame the supplier in your link doesn't ship to Denmark. Will have to source them some place else then. Keep it up. Cheers from Denmark 🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰
@@JohnsonsSmallEngines thanks for the info what about the ones on the upper part of the spindal sandwich in between to washers i heard you call it a poor mans power steering i thought it might would help i was looking for something to make it turn easier or steer easier have arthritis thanks again
thanks again for your help ive done got one ordered now if i just have you here to do the work but i guess ill just have to make do and try it my self looks pretty simple cheers
Great video as ever brad. I have an x300.....pretty sure it has wheel bearings as I don't think there's a zerk on the back of the wheel. I love the idea of the poor mans power steering though.....I had to replace my steering rack at 500 hours so I'd assume those needle bearings will be a good idea to preserve what's left of my steering shaft???? Many thanks. Dave (U.K.)
My opinion, the X300 series has a good front axle set up. I'm not sure if you can put the thrust washers in the steering but I do not think you need too. Make sure you grease the 3 axle points and make sure to keep the front tire pressure at max (check on a regular basis) to keep the stress off of the rest of steering. Low tire pressure is one of the biggest reason why front steering gears fail. Thank you for watching my videos and supporting my channel!
@@JohnsonsSmallEngines Ah.........never thought of that Brad!! Yes, I do keep those three points lubed up. It would be great to see something related to the 42" Edge mulching deck maintenance if you ever come across one? My deck belt is split and I just know it's going to let go any day now but I'm having trouble finding a part number!! Do you have any thoughts on a third party belt as opposed to genuine JD??? Many thanks and best wishes from the U.K. Dave
I only recommend John Deere belts on the X300 but if it was my mower, I would try an aftermarket. I only use Rotary or Stens for aftermarket belts. I have had issues using aftermarket so I stopped putting them on the John Deere equipment. I will use after market belts for many transmission drive applications that use a 1/2" belt with very good success. Here is the video for your machine showing the 42" Edge belt replacement. ruclips.net/video/jHjzpUZy4EY/видео.html
Will that needle thrust bearing upgrade work on the S series? I was one of the folks that told you my new S130 already had the wheel bearings installed so I bought a bearings kit for nothing 🫤.
Will the thrust needle roller bearing kit work for an S140? Awesome how-to! I'm considering adding a steering wheel spinner knob as well to "max out" my ease of steering.
Yes, it should fit most of the L,D, E and S series. Don't forget tire pressure. Keep the front at 12 to 16 psi to keep stress off of the steering gears and it will also make it easier to turn. Check pressure a few times a year.
Thank you for the info and all the work you did to make this video. I certainly do appreciate it!

It is so much nicer now!

Probably not but where grease is moisure cannot be.

I've done that for my craftsman ys mower and the poulan XT mower the poor man power steering kit plus the ball bearings it works great

Does anybody know if this Modification will work on A John Deere LT 160 Thank you!
You already have front wheel bearings and you cannot use the thrust needle bearings because your axle pivots do not come apart. Short answer, no.
will these bearings you have listed work on a s220 2022 model thanks for any help love your videos right to the point on how to do things
Your S220 already has front wheel bearings.

Yes

Yes, I looked it up and the spindle is the same part number for the S and D series so the thrust bearing will work.
