It was Faithful who wrote it, the Stones made it a rock song. Ry Cooder finished it and gave the riffs to so many Stones early 70’s songs.

Marianne said the song is about a Car accident and the need to dumb the pain and NOT about addiction..Ive done Morphine and Smack and Coke and Opium and many other combos, plus Booze but Ive been clean and sober since 1985 and today its Feb 2024...
This song truly captures the essence of such a high, or low, if you wish, I can taste it as she sings it.

I know there's a reference to "Cousin Cocaine", but I can't stop thinking that a "sister" is the same thing as a head nurse in the UK given the sickness morphine can produce.

Sorry for me to believe that sister morphine on sticky fingers is unrecognizable or people don't know it For me it's probably 1 of their best songs ever So there you go
