In my humble opinion, Ronnie embodies the best of what Brian Jones AND Mick Taylor brought to the band. He has the ability to hop from one instrument to the next. He CAN be a soloist when called upon, but he can just as easily drop back into the groove and trade licks with Keith. In terms of personality, he is the "Ringo Starr" of the Rolling Stones, in that he brings everyone together. I'm put off by people who say that Ron has "no distinguishable sound" and "I can't tell who is doing what in that band". THAT IS THE POINT of how Keith and Ron collaborate. You're NOT SUPPOSED TO see the seams. Get it now??
Ron walks into the studio with an awesome guitar noodle (Hey Negrita). Black & Blue is a very nice album that aged very well 😎 Billy Preston & Nicky Hopkins, these guys top it of 👍
Look, I know I just posted this to the previous video, but it bears repeating. To Wood's critics I say, YEAH, RIGHT!?! I'm sorry, but by the time Taylor left, the whole endless guitar solo era had already gotten tired. By the mid 70s, the punks were gaining ground on the Stones and the rest of the Brit Invasion survivors. There is NO WAY- and I am a HUGE fan of his- that Jeff Beck could've done what RONNIE did to revitalize the Stones. Things had to change and Ronnie immeasurably helped the Stones get over themselves and get back to basics. Not by trying to be the Sex Pistols but by stripping their sound and by extension their persona back to a hard rocking, get-up-and-go rock and roll band but now with a lighter touch. That while they were STILL the Stones, but they were also NOW the premiere rock and roll party band- the spot once occupied by Wood's former group, the Faces. Wood brought energy and most importantly FUN back to the Stones and their sound. They had their BIG post "Exile" Renaissance from 1978 to 1984. from "Some Girls" to "Undercover" with hit-after-genuine-fucking-hit. It's not for nothing that Jeff Spicoli himself said that after he won the Hawaiian Tropic Surfing Championship that he and "Mick are gonna wing on over to London and jam with the Stones..!" And that was back in 1982! For those of us in high school back then THAT was the Stones to us. The earlier Mick Taylor much-rightfully hailed, classic period was something we only discovered AFTERWARDS. It was all due again to Ronnie showing up and giving the Stones a much-needed transfusion of energy and FUN. "Gimme Mick, Gimme Mick! Bulging eyes, greasy hair, lips so THICK. Are you woman? Are you man? I'm you're greatest living fan. You can rock me, you can roll me til I'm SICK!"- Candy Slice.
Love Ronnie Wood. Excellent addition to the Stones. I still think of him as the new guy in the band! I always see him with Rod Stewart in the Faces. Loved that match up. Ronnie can play a variety of instruments, and he and Keef are great together. I read a while back Jaggar wanted Ronnie. So thats cool.

He offered me some coke to smoke, I told him, and I'm 17, I am curious about it, but, I want to be more aware of it, before using. Ronnie told me "That sounds smart ". And he tried to give me some money and, even tho I was totally broke, I declined. And never did get a call from a place I applied for a job at on that day. So, hah, hah, hah, I doubt he still wants to be my friend after I gave him ideas for his 2nd autobiography book. Never did replace the hard stuff with WEED!!! Did you. I'm glad your still KICKING, with better health. And, speaking of laughing at me, maybe Keith would like an opportunity to do so?!!! Bring Johnny D. Too!!! We can laugh TOGETHER!!!! GOOD LIFE TOO, except for me of course. And, to me the world could use an " Emotional Rescue "!!! G'day everyone!!!
The real difference in the two guitar lineup is the effect of the contribution. Brian's parts were iconic. Very creative. Very distinct from Keith's. Also Brian was a multi-instrumentalist. So his contributions were not only distinctive they were diverse and usually memorable. Mick T. was primarily a very refined and gifted blues player with some jazz flavouring and excellent slide work. As for Ronnie? Quite frankly I have no idea what his contributions are. He's a good slide player and has good timing. But other than that? Not sure. Mind you, I saw him several times in 1968 with Jeff Beck. He was *amazing* on bass. So underrated. Great sound. Great groove. Great stage presence.
@TheaterPup OK. I hear you. But with Brian I could always hear and differentiate the interwoven parts and the separate patterns in the 'tapestry' resulting from the 'weaving' and the interplay. With Ronnie, I cannot always distinguish who is doing what, especially when Keith is usingbstandard tuning. A bit easier when Keith is using his 5-string Tele with the open G tuning. OK. Agreed, that can make for a more integrated and homogenous result. But for me, the results are less interesting. As Keith has mentioned several times, when it comes to the mixes, he cannot always tell who is doing what. In that sense, Ronnie is more like a musical clone of Keith. Brian, on the other hand, never sounded like Keith. Yet their parts were always in synch and complementary but always distinguishable. There are many examples. It's All Over Now, Little Red Rooster, The Last Time, Satisfaction, Think, Lady Jane just to site a few. However, being 75, you can tell what my orientation is. I kind of drifted away from The Stones in the post-Brian era. He might not have been a principle songwriter, but for me, he was The Secret Sauce, the Magic Ingredient.
Great guitarist. Solid musical aficionado and can play with anyone, anywho, and HAS...but why does he not have the prestige of a Clapton or Hendrix? Not sure. Doesn't really have "known" solos like every classic rock "Guitarist" but is always a key instrumental player with all the bands he's ever played with. He knows the keys and chords and makes all sound great. Was the Best lead guitarist with The Faces. Like any great musician, though, you don't really want them to stand out, because if you notice an instrument while listening to a band, there's something not right about it, which is why it stands out...but, if it fits in and you don't notice it, it's right. So,... there you have it. Even though I personally feel Ronnie played second fiddle to Keith, (He was more instrumental, and more vocal, in The Faces) Ronnie felt the feeling of fitting in and contributing to which, where, whomever he was playing with, to CONTRIBUTE to whatever he was hearing in that moment to add to it his own expression of musical intuitiveness that he felt the need to. Maybe held them together to keep going for the fresh energy, and inspiration. Great for all it is, but I'd still rather hear Ronnie play with other people, and Mick Taylor as the soloist or Brian Jones as the multi-instrumentalist for this band we all know and Love as The Rolling Stones.
he got the gig with the Rolling Stones, that just what happened, he go the gig. Treated like a hired gun, just like Bill and Charlie. Mick and Keef can kick rocks.
The captioning/subtitles, wotevr included onscreen are ridiculous, useless. East Road for Heathrow is laughable, never mind what they tossed in instead of Waddy Wachtel's name, some strange phonetic simulation, maybe a meaningless phrase. Ughhh.
I completely agree that Wood was the "lazy" choice. Clearly the albums that followed Taylor's departure are inferior. The Stones became mere entertainers without counterpoint in the band. Woods was terrific in the Faces, but why would you need another Keith in the Stones?
@@7579mc Yeah, I did. So what! I wanted to see if it had anything important to say and, just like you have nothing important to say, I found out it didn't.
Joe Walsh would have been much better, imo. The longer Ronnie has been with the band the more mediocre he has plays. His best contribution was on Some Girls.
The guy who backed onto easy street. Mick Taylor was the finest guitarist the Stones ever had. The Stones are not the greatest band. That was the Beatles.
What a load of BS…..They are still there, still together and the last album was excellent. There is very little point in trying to dis the obvious ooodles of talent..It’s a rock band like no other….listen to what Joe Bonemassa said recently.
Mick Taylor was the zenith of the Stones productivity..Brian Jones 2nd..Ronnie Third..though he is a great guy..
Maybe, but that had nothing to do with Taylor.

He's a good slide player and has good timing. But other than that? Not sure. Mind you, I saw him several times in 1968 with Jeff Beck. He was *amazing* on bass. So underrated. Great sound. Great groove. Great stage presence.
With Ronnie, Keith was able to go back to the weaving style he'd formed with Brian.
@@manjay49 Oh I agree as far as Brian, he was truly special.
Other than disagreeing on how best to do cocaine, Ronnie and Keith have been the best of friends, and it shows on stage. Ronnie saved the Stones.
Jagger should've gave Mick Taylor whatever he wanted to not quit the Rolling Stones.
Taylor was a drug addict
Exactly
Wasn't Ronnie a salaried member of the Stones until making 'partner' in the early '90s?
Keyth and Ronnie, fatti uno per l'atro! Sorry for my italian...
Have a good day
Didn’t Mick say at one time to Rod”don’t worry I’ll never steal woody
And sadly they have become the most nostalgic dad band in the world.
Stones were done when bill wyman left. Down hill they went
Because he can also play steel pedal guitar when called upon, i.e., "Bob Wills is Still the King"...
he got the gig with the Rolling Stones, that just what happened, he go the gig. Treated like a hired gun, just like Bill and Charlie. Mick and Keef can kick rocks.
Joe Walsh’s guitar style would fit The Rolling Stones in my opinion
And the drugs taking style would fit too. And I mean that in a good way.
Ronnie was is a good choice
I didn't know Steve Marriott played on Black and Blue!
Why not Ronnie...if you can't have Mick Taylor anymore Ronnie Wood is atleast serviceable
Woody is cool..listen to some girls album..it rocks
He isn't the whole band, he's just one Rolling Stone (as in singular). Is the concept of plurality really that hard?
he's not a blues guitarist
The captioning/subtitles, wotevr included onscreen are ridiculous, useless. East Road for Heathrow is laughable, never mind what they tossed in instead of Waddy Wachtel's name, some strange phonetic simulation, maybe a meaningless phrase. Ughhh.
Bullshit : Ronnie & Keith are the best Rock'n'Roll twins ever . Und wer was anderes sagt hat Null Ahnung von Rock - Musik .
God I can't stand this speaking into the microphone from Verizon so much for this technology I have to try 20 times to get my comment across
I completely agree that Wood was the "lazy" choice. Clearly the albums that followed Taylor's departure are inferior. The Stones became mere entertainers without counterpoint in the band. Woods was terrific in the Faces, but why would you need another Keith in the Stones?
He's not another Keith. He's another Stone and that's what they needed.
Stole him from Rod
MARC FORD
35 minutes about nothing. The Rolling Stones have been all smoke and mirrors for the past 50 years. They're a joke.
Ok no problem. And what the name of your band?
You’re a joke
But you watched it didn't you.
@@IanMacintosh-u4o What an idiotic response. Why don't you learn how to compose a sentence and spell correctly?
@@7579mc Yeah, I did. So what! I wanted to see if it had anything important to say and, just like you have nothing important to say, I found out it didn't.
Love Keiths musical contribution to the planet but he dosen't feel comfortable next to good guitar players....Thats pretty obvious.
Should have picked Joe Walsh 😂
Mick couldnt handle Marriot in the same band
Their drug use and wild partying is not really a joke or funny!
Listening to this stuff just waste my time
Joe Walsh would have been much better, imo. The longer Ronnie has been with the band the more mediocre he has plays. His best contribution was on Some Girls.
The guy who backed onto easy street. Mick Taylor was the finest guitarist the Stones ever had. The Stones are not the greatest band. That was the Beatles.
The Washington Post? That’s The NY Times in DC. Sorry if they say yes I assume no is the correct answer.
I wouldn't describe shit from the song called video whatever they do whatever we have a podcast they always take something good and screw it all up
What a load of BS…..They are still there, still together and the last album was excellent. There is very little point in trying to dis the obvious ooodles of talent..It’s a rock band like no other….listen to what Joe Bonemassa said recently.
You ain't seen nothing yet
I seen them at the Houston astrodome in 81 it was a terrible show.
Hoskyns is being such a wanker lol
I'm with Barney Hoskyns...I wanna hear Ronnie isolated!
Poorly done video with just one liner edits …. 🗑️
Thanks for watching! So, tell me what you can do! And what do you do?
Poor choice.
Rubbish!
lame
Mick Jagger and John Lennon could never sing well.
Paul McCartney can sing.
it's not the singer, it's the song ... Kermit Frog 1979
John Lebanon’s voice was The Beatles signature. Lennon’s!
Very simply, you know nothing about music.
Start me up.. imagine
I lost interest in their material as soon as Wood joined in.
Maybe -- Ronnie Wood: A Life as a Rolling Stone.
They did ask Rory Gallagher first
Rory dodged a bullet.
That fool says he doesn't know what Ron is doing has a tin ear
