The heart and soul that goes into this song is just magical. You can picture yourself watching from the shore in Ireland while a small fishing boat smashes into the white horses (waves) whilst coming back to the harbour after a nights fishing the open seas.

Finbar Furey heard seagulls by the sea and this is what he heard. A true artist of beauty.

flawless, very haunting hairs stand up in my arms and back of my neck, its Irelands song 1st 2nd and last but in Glasgow its became very popular at celtic park and in the pubs up the gallowgate, absolutely love it, as long as its treated with the respect it deserves its a great sight at celtic park jumping and singing it in unison HH

I live in the Philippines now and have friends here from all over the world and when we party theres silence while we all listen to and appreciate this majestic piece of Irish music .

As a whistle player, I feel so inadequate listening to this. Feel like I want to give up :-) Well, somebody has to be best and I do love the instrument. It's the journey as well as the destination. The road is tough but worthwhile pilgrim. I shall keep going and I'm grateful to know enough to recognise/enjoy great playing. Thanks fellas.

Does Finbar need any back-up? No. Leave him to do his work.

That's the same as stopping writing poetry because you'll never be Sylvia Plath. You've hardly begun on your road. Keep going. Never quit. Never quit. Never quit.
