Still using my Nexus 5 and I'm not near replacing it :) With HDR the Pics are really good and with stock Android it still runs extremly smooth and I'm running a Nougat ROM. Best Smartphone in my opinion, because of the price and the smoothness. Pixel is better but for me, it's waaaaayyy too expensive. Good Video for people who might look for a cheap phone.
Gojy LetsPlay its aldo a great mini tablet game device for my daughter. Its to bad it doesnt work with verizon I would gift it to my dad for his first smart phone
Raul Polanco The same for me, I upgraded to G6 from the Nexus 5 last week, really miss my N5. Of course I still have it, but the battery life became very bad :'(
Ekoov you can replace the battery and fix that issue. Batteries deteriorate over time and since the n5 is a few years old it's battery is not going to function like it used to, and the fact that it didn't have the biggest battery didn't help.
I just replaced the battery on mine earlier today. :-D About $20 on Amazon for the battery plus the seller even threw in some opening tools and prying tools. It's an easy 5-minute swap.
The battery is toast in mine and got a new phone half a year ago (Lenovo Vibe P2, which is admittedly pretty damn good also). Still, I think about getting a new battery to get the old girl going again... I loved that phone. :(
Love this phone so much. I don't regret couple of disappointments. I'm Happy with this phone. Tweaking software and Hardware once in 6 months gives me great happiness. Thank you Josh.
Nexus 5 at its time is much better than Nexus 6p at its time, in terms of performance, design, screen quality, c/p, all these aspects and Nexus 5 is actually in my experience much slappier than Nexus 6P(fk 810)
"at its time", nexus 5 screen and design compare to other smartphones at its time is much better than 6p compare to other smartphones at its time. and no, 6p display is not that great on its own, color accuracy is absolutely off on that display, and there is no color control or srgb mode to help either, nexus 5 display is much more accurate and has more nature color tone. The design is ok, but build quality is shit, it is even easier to bend than iphone 6
The color accuracy is pefectly fine. There is an srgb mode in the developper options which makes colors look natural. Please do some research before talking trash.
have just updated my precious N5 to Oreo 8.1 and then see this video... damn, it really even boosts my love for the N5 to a whole new level! 2018 and the N5 is still rocking with Oreo 8.1 without too many problems other than the one related to battery and some heavy games. incredible!
If you think about it, nowdays you buy a flagship model or a good midranger you can use it for at least 3 or 4 years if it doesn't go wrong. Of course if you don't fall for the manufacturer's marketing bullsh*t like dual camera, edge to edge display, 3D touch, squeezable frame etc..
This video made me cry. Even when I read the title a teardrop started rolling down. All you say is so true ! I got it when it was released, I was 18 and worked hard in order to afford it. then it got stolen in Barcelona 1 year after. I regret it so much. I never had the courage to put a lot of money on a smartphone after that, and I downgraded to a Moto G3 as a replacement. So salty.
Yes maybe 😊 i think i will never buy a Samsung mobile. Just don't need all those useless apps and stuff people never use. I maybe will wait to see till new iphone.. never had one lol
Nexus 5 is like the SSD drive of phones, it finally runs everything smooth and still smooth today for non intensive apps. Wifi is still up to date in speed. HDR+ and OIS still makes for better shots in low light then my S6Edge+, and as good in video stability. An updated shell, glass and ram would make it the killer budget phone. Also small battery but charges pretty fast. small and easy to pocket. Hopefully this third try with LG might be the replacement, or at least compliment to it if it's a larger phablet (leaving my laptop home) 🤔
Used mine for years until the power button failed and before that had multiple warranty exchanges. But that being said the phone is one of my favorite devices of all time. Fantastic phone.
Amazing video. I literally just got nexus 5 nostalgia this week and bought a new and sealed phone off ebay for $160. It was my first android phone after yeeeears of iPhone (and before years of other Android phones...), and even 4 years later, this phone's form factor is my absolute favorite. Coincidental timing!
I forgot my Nexus 5 in my jeans, and I washed it in the laundry for 15 minutes. I'm happy to say that this phone survived against all odds to this day. I bought it in 2013, and it is still my daily driver (32-gigabyte black version with the original bumper cover).
I still love my Nexus 5! I have Android 7 on it and it runs so smoothly and nice. There are really only two things that would make me upgrade my smartphone. The lack of extra storage and the small batterie. I'm not much of an smartphone gamer and I dont see no reason why I should update my phone. Thanks to the XDA Community!
This was my backup phone when I had to get my V10 fixed for a bootloop. I was actually surprised at how good it still was. I think it will always be one of my all-time favorite phones.
The nexus 5 is one of my favorite devices. I still have mine. It was my first phone I bought myself. The hidden LED is my favorite part about the phone. I loved the placement.
Although the N5 was the poor man's LG G2 I do agree it became quite iconic and many people still use it regardless of the poor battery life. It's like the HTC HD2 which runs Nougat, can you imagine?
I have nothing but fond memories of my Nexus 5. It was my first android, jumping from the iphone 4s. It was my stomping grounds, the reason I was able to become the smartphone geek that I am today.
I bought the Nexus 5 immediately on launch. It was my first Android phone and I was really impressed by the customizability offered. The non-glued back and it's modular nature is something I still very much admire today. I don't remember the camera as being bad at all, I just remember the driver issues at first. The processor is still very capable and the screen is still quite good in my opinion. I have since "downgraded" to a 4.6", 720p screen (also very good) and a Snapdragon in the 600-line, but with expandable storage, something I still miss on Google devices, making me not even consider one anymore. Looking back it's also quite impressive that the Nexus 5 had 4K video capability back then.
Upgrading from my nexus5 next week, the battery is just gone at this point and it's time to say goodbye. Everything else still pretty much perfect. The nicest 3.5 years I've had with any phone, hands down. You will be missed!
I used my Nexus 5 for 3.5 years till about a month ago. Got a one plus 5. I definitely loved the Nexus 5 and it was a great phone and it held up pretty great until the end
I bought my first phone (Nexus 5) and used it for 3 years.... I loved every second of using it. The only issues I had with it were, battery life and camera quality. Since nexus 5 there hasn't been a google phone that was at the same price point in india. So I decided to get Oneplus 3T and the 3T feels like a true successor to the Nexus 5.
I stopped using my Nexus 5 as my DD when I got my Nexus 6 in Dec. 2014, but I still have it, and running a custom OMS nougat ROM so I can test Substratum. I replaced the battery a few months ago, it's running like a champ. Hammerhead, FTW
I still use my 32GB black nexus 5 since that November when it launches :), very happy with it! maybe I will upgrade next year it will be hard to not use my Nexus anymore though.
I used to have one, and I loved it so much, didn't want to get rid of it.. but in the end the battery gave me huge problems, it was draining like crazy only after 1 year of ownership so had to get rid of it.. but by far one of the best phones to hold, loved the soft material on the back.
Watching on my new Red Nexus 5. Purchased 3 new ones on eBay a few weeks ago. Turned them all on and they all updated to Marshmallow for a few hours. As Marques said "The Bowse"
I too just turned on my Nexus 5 last week before getting the LG G6 which is a great upgrade. You forgot but there was a radical limited red colour Nexus 5 which I had before selling it for a certain profit ;) still as fast as ever. Amazing phone. Poor camera, recording and battery all replaced by my awesome LG G6 now :)
I still use a white nexus 5 as my main phone till now , i very Happy with the experience and overall satisfied with it , i also have the galaxy nexus as my 2end phone for work and surprisly still work too , performance is very smooth and still handling all task and apps greatly sufficient , The main problem is battery life for booth phones.
I've had mine for 3-4 years now and I'm in need of a phone with a DAC. Is the LG V20 a worthy upgrade from a Nexus 5 or should I be looking at newer phones?
I still use mine - using it now! LineageOS means it is on 7. Only major problem was the wifi / Bluetooth chip broke at the end of last year, but as I have insurance I got sent a new one! Also there is an annoying problem where sometimes you have to reboot the phone to get the camera to work. Apart from that, I can't think of a reason to move to any other phone until this one can't work at all.
I'm still rocking a Nexus 5 since it's first release. Haven't had any issues, and it's aged well enough. Can't believe it's been almost 4 years! Though I will admit I'm thinking of upgrading this year, but I'm in no rush. Since I've always been a Nexus user (first phone was a Nexus S), and since Google killed the Nexus line, I'm a little hesitant to move on.
Still got mine. Use it as a backup/test device. Mostly fine but do have a crack on one corner of the screen. Running Nougat (and a more recent version than whats on my HTC 10 at that.) Something else I sorely miss from this device is the in hand feel. The size and shape just seem to work so well for me. You could fit a 5.5" display in a body almost the same size as the nexus 5's with the whole 2:1 "bezelless" thing that's going round. That sounds pretty perfect to me. Favourite Phones I've had are still this and the Nexus One. N5X came close but I think the bootloop made me bitter.
I found this video by chance and I agreed totally with Josh. It struck me because I picked up Nexus 5 from dusty drawer again two weeks ago and I can't help but liking this phone. The same I can say of LG G2 which I also started using again. I only wish LG would bring out a new Nexus 5 or G2 with improved camera, battery and the latest Android. That's all I need from a smartphone really.
You forgot that Nexus 5 have WIRELESS CHARGING!!
Wish Google would make a Pixel Phone looking like Nexus 5
that would be dope.
Ümit Ay exactly
*nods big time* I still say the Nexus 5 is by far the best phone LG ever produced.
true. LG should go stock android with their upcoming phones. LG's UI is downgrading their devices. Nokia is doing it the right way.
Agreed. I was shocked when I saw the price of the pixel.
Gojy LetsPlay I'm using my nexus 5 why a marshmallow pure nexus ROM... Can you recommend any good nought based ROMs
Gojy LetsPlay agreed it's a great phone 😁
Gojy LetsPlay pixel is so much uglier

My first real smartphone, and boy do I miss it. They say you never forget your first time and I'm here to say that's def true. Miss you buddy.
How much did the battery life improve?
In my opinion, it's the most beautiful phone ever.
Pre-ordered it (first batch), and still running like a charm!
NEXUS 5 THE UNSTOPPABLE PHONE
Until you fall victim to the bootloop.....
Hadouken25 hold up. I thought LG are the ones to bootloop ... ?!
Hadouken25 OHHH RIGHT. This one was manufactured by LG. Haha..
Got an Honor 8 now. All is well
Yeah. I love it.
Nexus 5 is love
Nexus 5 is life

Nexus 5 is masterpiece.
Still using mine! Got it in 2014, never been reset..works like a charm. I absolutely love it!
For me it's still the best phone, I miss that phone a lot
Debojyoti Jana I still have it
I also have it, but sadly it doesn't work
The battery is toast in mine and got a new phone half a year ago (Lenovo Vibe P2, which is admittedly pretty damn good also). Still, I think about getting a new battery to get the old girl going again... I loved that phone. :(
I don't miss it, because I'm still using it.
MPI1000 Can recommend, I got a new battery+tools from china for 8€
Watching on my Nexus 5 😚
I carry two phones on me all the time. the one plus 3t. and the Nexus 5. loved that thing.
Great video bro, I still use my Nexus 5 in 2017 great phone
My first smartphone. Decent camera for price. Bad battery life. Crashed once a few months. But so many memories.
Still using my bright red Nexus 5, moving to a Oneplus 5 next week!
Dong Huang exactly same here :-)
Dong Huang same here
Me too. Got a one plus 5 last month
Me too!
I had the oneplus one when it came out and I'm typing this on a oneplus 3. Don't buy the oneplus 5.
*But we still love the old Nokia 3310.* 😜
ULTRA Mixes or are too broke to do so XD
Classic trolls, making generalizations based on race.
ULTRA Mixes *Fuckin Racist!*
*That was just a joke idiot !*
Watching it on my nexus 5. 3.5years and Still going STRONG. ❤
Using Android Marshmallow in 2017 isn't a bad idea. My daily driver runs it and it's very fast! Even on a Snapdragon 410...
Great video..Thanks Josh..This was the 1st phone i rooted. Glad it's still alive and kicking in the community. Brilliant phone.
best phone ever (to me)
dark voice me too
Love this phone so much.
I don't regret couple of disappointments.
I'm Happy with this phone. Tweaking software and Hardware once in 6 months gives me great happiness.
Thank you Josh.
Nexus 5 at its time is much better than Nexus 6p at its time, in terms of performance, design, screen quality, c/p, all these aspects
and Nexus 5 is actually in my experience much slappier than Nexus 6P(fk 810)
Maxim Au I dont see how the nexus 5's design is better than the 6P's. And the display on the 6P is MUCH better than the washed out ips on the N5
Pixel should have had the back like nexus, with pixel written on it.
Using from feb,2014 and still performing like boss. 😍
Watching on my red Nexus 5😎
Mine is 3 yrs , 8 months old. Was running liquid smooth. Now on stock marshmallow. Still packs a punch and battery lasts a day easily.
Mark O. E. Dual camera is not a gimmick
Nexus 5 was my first Android phone and I loved it. I still have find memories of it.
Nexus 5 still using it everyday and will be soon moving to LG G6
#LGSquad
Christian Enmon erm... Don't do it 😂 LG will be great at first but give it time and you'll wish you didn't join team LG!
Christian Enmon I moved from 6P to G6. No regrets so far!
got my g6 last week, but my nexus is actually faster in opening up some apps lol
Christian Enmon better hope the it doesn't bootloop
Marcus Skyfall we all have our own different experiences, I mean Nexus 5 served me well and now G6 is such a good phone next to S8 ;)
So salty.
Thumbs Up if you are using Nexus 5 since 31th October 2013 😁
I swear I am thinking to skip S8 or OP5 😊
Sh Afnan i am also confused.. My N5 works perfect.. only issue being short battery life.. May be N5 will be ok till S9 or OP6
Yes maybe 😊 i think i will never buy a Samsung mobile. Just don't need all those useless apps and stuff people never use.
I maybe will wait to see till new iphone.. never had one lol
Had mine for 4 years and it's still running like a champ!
I've a nexus 5x and I still love it...
Pratik Bartakke Same! I bought mine last year and it's still running like it's brand new!
I have the nexus 5x and i love it💓💓
RRainerss Where did you get your motherboard and how did you replace it?
RRainerss I second Smoker's question!
Kaleem Bissessur battery life is good ??
Mine one is under my store due to bootloop problem
Sudip Paudel Mine too atm lol
Used mine for years until the power button failed and before that had multiple warranty exchanges. But that being said the phone is one of my favorite devices of all time. Fantastic phone.
had a nexus 4. absolutely horrible battery life. after 2 years wouldn't even get over 2h of screen on time
Niklas Sonderegger Meanwhile it's the other way around for me. My Nexus 4 gives me 3h of SOT and I'm still using it
alexdiezg depends on whether one abuses the battery heavily by charging from empty to full often
Amazing video. I literally just got nexus 5 nostalgia this week and bought a new and sealed phone off ebay for $160. It was my first android phone after yeeeears of iPhone (and before years of other Android phones...), and even 4 years later, this phone's form factor is my absolute favorite. Coincidental timing!
the LG g2 is a Nexus 5 with a better camera..battery... and it works on Verizon
Dan Venezzio but that bootloop issue :/
The Minecrafter lol the G2 didn't have bootloop issues
I forgot my Nexus 5 in my jeans, and I washed it in the laundry for 15 minutes. I'm happy to say that this phone survived against all odds to this day. I bought it in 2013, and it is still my daily driver (32-gigabyte black version with the original bumper cover).
josh please cut your hair...
Aqshalst You cut your hair....

watching this video in my favorite nexus 5. and after using it fpr several years it is still a GREAT phone!
Watching this video from my Nexus 5!! Still fighting strong!!!
I bought to my sister a nexus 5 red with 32gb version 2 years back and it's still working great.
I want a phone with a nexus 5 look, snapdragon 855/8150, with 3d face-id, visual core.....
and a better battery :)
Although I moved on to the OnePlus 3, still got my Nexus 5...that phone was perfection when it came out, especially for the price.
My all time favorite, still fully functional and on my desk. Love it
I love this phone so much and already have one and also I was completely obsessed the phone
The nexus 5 is one of my favorite devices. I still have mine. It was my first phone I bought myself. The hidden LED is my favorite part about the phone. I loved the placement.
Just fixed mine again, I'm gonna be using this for as long as I can!
Still using my nexus 5 up to now since 2014. A very user friendly and simple smartphone.
Although the N5 was the poor man's LG G2 I do agree it became quite iconic and many people still use it regardless of the poor battery life. It's like the HTC HD2 which runs Nougat, can you imagine?
I still have my Nexus 5 but not working for couple of years now. The phone is not starting anymore and keeps looping, off then Nexus logo then off...
I have nothing but fond memories of my Nexus 5. It was my first android, jumping from the iphone 4s. It was my stomping grounds, the reason I was able to become the smartphone geek that I am today.
Watching this on my lovely nexus 5
I remember when I had a nexus 5 when it came out, while I no longer have it, it remains my favorite phone ever, I really miss my Nexus 5.
I use that and have had it since 2014. Watching on it too. And I'm in need of an upgrade
Still using my Nexus 5 and I love it. Overall package of size, weight, specs and looks is amazing.
I used my red ❤️Nexus 5❤️ for 3 years and upgrade that to Android 7 AOSP ROM. this device is unforgettable for me💗
watching on my nexus 5 , im glad my phone still remember as a best budget phone hehe my nexus still alive 5 years and still using
one of the best phones I ever get, I dropped mine the screen was broken, it was then replaced and the phone is still alive and used
I used my Nexus 5 for 3.5 years till about a month ago. Got a one plus 5. I definitely loved the Nexus 5 and it was a great phone and it held up pretty great until the end
I loved this phone. Got it a month after it came out. I had it for six months before I got jacked at the subway.
Thanks for the video , Nexus 5 is the best , almost 4years but still running smoothly 😃
Oh man good job at incorporating a reworked version of The Spinners - Could It Be I'm Falling In Love. One of my favorite songs!
I have my Nexus 5 white 32 and still love it
I bought my first phone (Nexus 5) and used it for 3 years.... I loved every second of using it. The only issues I had with it were, battery life and camera quality. I sold mine in 2015..but still miss it

yes I am still loving that phone and I'm using too
the ctr lock screen animation when it was on 4.4 or maybe the update after was so satisfying, they need to bring it back.
With LineageOS it still rocks, mine having its 3rd battery right now and going well.... more than 3.5 years with it !
Still in love..❤❤❤😢😢😢
I still use a white nexus 5 as my main phone till now , i very Happy with the experience and overall satisfied with it , i also have the galaxy nexus as my 2end phone for work and surprisly still work too , performance is very smooth and still handling all task and apps greatly sufficient , The main problem is battery life for booth phones.

Mine still works perfectly after 3 years 😊 I love this phone
