Thanks brother! Very informative video. I happened to buy 2014 D13 VVN, and have noted down every thing to plan maintenance in time. Till now I had DPF filter cleaned, injector cups changed, DEF dozer valve changed.
The AHI module, usually gets clogged up, restricting fuel to the 7th injector nozzle, because the air dryer filter gets clogged, allowing dirt and oil, to contaminate the air systems.
2018 D13 shut off won’t fire back without either, didn’t use much but will run when sprayed in to it. No codes other than transmission. New clutch P/P and T/O bearing

Surge tank cracks, oil fill tube dry rots and cracks at the oil pan fitting, rear timing gear cover leaks, crankcase vent pump gasket leaks from drying out, DOSING manifold!! Pathetic how many of these I have changed on the older brick types...just to name a few. Ow and another one, I’ve seen a failed CD player, the factory radio, throw a check engine DTC. That’s just the issues I’ve seen on 14-17 models. They do have electrical bugs but they are much better than our 2020 internationals, but not as reliable as our 2016 freightliners. Good video.
The effed up part about the radio, you cant just throw another volvo radio into it, without having the pass code.. Another annoying inconvenience with Volvo is just about every electrical item in it is a module of some kind.. and if you don't Syncronize and register it with central systems at the time of replacement you screw the next guy who has to change any kind of parameter but can't because your locked out of pretty much anything due to Chassis Id mismatch.. I freaking hate Tech tool with a passion..
Another thing you may want to mention is the 2 I believe they're called the DEF coolant lines, those plastic L shape peices that the lines connect to, I had to have mine changed, because they broke and when they break you loose all of your coolant fast, I'm not sure if you've mentioned this before on your channel, I just thought I'd throw it in, the service guy that come out and fixed mine said he's fixed several on these volvos, thanks for the helpful information you give out, keep doing whatcha doing

@@almixin Nope. 3 trips to the Volvo dealer and they could not fix it. I was fired from that company 6 months ago after 17 years of service. I now drive a day cab Freightliner with a great working a/c. I'm also making $600 more per week and home everyday. Yes I know it's hard to believe the pay.
At 500k miles that's not a bad list compared to ISX. Most engines the turbos, injectors, EGR, after treatment, etc will need work or replacement around 400k. So, a $10k preventive investment before 500k sounds reasonable. Repeat before 900k and get the bearings done if you haven't and you'll drive pass 1 million miles without major headaches. O/O use your reset hours wisely on PM.
Are $10,000 on deferred maintenance can buy me 40% of a rebuilt Cummins N14 Celect Plus. You can throw good-money after-bad and I'll save my money for something that's worth it.
@@tpnotes I haven't driven any Volvo more new than a 2013. None of them ever reached an average of 7 miles per gallon. Then if you subtract a DEF costs you're getting Caterpillar type fuel mileage costs.
I have a 2012 Volvo temperature goes up from 180 to 225 and back down not sure if it's the radiator I change the thermostat already could injector cups cause this problem
2017 730 with 620k mikes. Started showing a P228F00 code. Derates. Resets every day until I put a load on it. Runs great for about a mile even with a load.
Did you ever get that fixed? I figured that, if you maintain the turbo psi under 31, the engine will maintain power. If I go over 31 psi for a few seconds, the turbo cuts off and the pressure won't go past 15 psi until you stop, turn off engine to rest the ECM.
How about an intermittent light issue, all lights work on truck, but there is no power to the trailer plug and trailer fuses under hood are all good(Replaced for brand new just in case). Have double checked and not getting power to Fuse block. But it only happens occasionally.
7th injector or AHI module, timing gear cover gasket leak, PTO cover o-ring (engine mount) EGR cooler like you said clogged but sometimes coolant leaks internally and cooler has to be replaced, transmission cooler lines short one on the trany, nox and pm sensors but not often, cab heater core can be plugged and no heat in the cab, CAC pipe on hot side those permanent clamps beter cut and install regular ones with screw, DEF pump leak a lot specially in winter and push def thrue the def pump harness all the way to ACM and if this happened chasse harness need to be replaced+ DEF pump, DEF pump harness+ DEF level sender with quality sensor+ coolant solenoid for DEF pump, and don't forget timing plate on the right top corner of the engine, and also newer models with common rail Volvo roll out bulletin for EPRV (electronic pressure relief valve) on the fron end of fuel rail, so ther is a EPRV delete kit that req remove valve and plug the hole+ pressure sensor and right side of injector harness+accessory kit need to be programmed in order to tell ECM that there is no pressure relief valve anymore 😀
We have a 2013 Volvo in the shop right now with almost 600,000 that will crank but no start ECM has been checked along with all fuses and relays new fuel filter and new fuel pump customer states they used the truck all day parked it that evening and it wouldn't start the next morning any help would be greatly appreciated
When I Start my truck. Hill assist light blink for few seconds . Also abs and tcs light comes on stay steady for few seconds then goes away. During driving time , it comes once a week stay for few seconds and goes away . Truck driven ok . What might be the cause for those lights to show up

2016 Volvo D13 500k no check engine or any other lights on the dash. Truck does have a problem with gaining speed when loaded. Speed is at a max of 55 mph. The filter was cleaned out but still same issue

What about the fuel gauge sensor? I’ve driven a couple of these and would fill these things up with diesel and the gauge would still read a quarter of a tank. Which is a bit frustrating.

Now when it shifts, 3, 5, 7, 9 it fells like its punching on engagement. also it is engaging to 5 gear way on low RPM from 1300 to 500rpm almost kills the engine. any comments?

I'm looking at getting a 2011 780 & the guy got it in 2018, removed the one axle, had new driveshaft made and computer flashed so it won't look for it. Not sure if it was programmed as an rv since it has a auto h he built the deck on it. I know it has a diesel particulate filter on it and 1.1 million miles. He says it runs great and only gets 1 or 2 k miles a year on it. I've asked him to get fluids tested & asking about all the stuff you mentioned here. Guess is would this be a good reliable truck for a few more years & being driven mostly a few times a month and using as an rv since it has an apu? Parts & service are my biggest concern for here in Southwest Arizona because dealers are 2.5 hours east or west & parts availability with prices. Thanks for the great information on the D13 Brad

I got a d13 Volvo motor that’s weak…I swap motors and it’s still weak. I go up a small hill and it’s slows down to 45-50 mph don’t have a clue why/what it causes it….i have my ecm set by Volvo dealership at 500 hp and used both my ecm and Volvo ecm and it’s still weak.😢😢😢😢

I also see a lot of the lower DPF housings cracked at the welds by the DEF doser and also oil pushing through the oil sensors or injector harness and pushing through engine harness.

I've got a 2013 volvo I shift we swapped out Trans with a good used and used existing tecu but now I have no speedometer, engine brake or cruise control. Checked harness and all sensors tested good. Any ideas?
Need help So I got my 2016 Volvo fixed at this shop in Philadelphia. I was told I had to clean my DPF, I had to replace the doser (otherwise the truck wouldn’t do a regen), and they also said I had to replace one of the injectors. Not sure which one. And also 2 knock sensors. After all of this, the truck seemed to run okay for few days but then I noticed something odd about the transmission. I never had any issues with my transmission before. The problem is becoming more and more obvious. When cruising on a straight road, it automatically downshifts to lower gear for few seconds, making the engine scream. When pressing the gas, you can feel a bit of a vibration (never had this issue before) and also, when backing up a trailer, it starts reversing with R1 which makes the truck jerk and shake crazy so I have to manually upshift the gear to r2. I called the shop and they can’t give me any tip other than calling me back to the shop. Can you guys help me out figuring out what might be the issue? Thank you

I have a question for you I change the fuel pump. I change the accessory drive. I changed the fuel pump housing. I’ve change the check valve, i’ change the clutch i change all the filters air & Fuel and my truck still jerks going uphill only on the uphill I feel like I’m going on a pothole it’s something has to do with the fuel what do you think it is? 2007 volvo vnl D12 engine has no code. Nothing on the computer fuel pressure is normal when they put the fuel pressure or pressure test.

I did get the two year warranty. The company who offered the warranty is NTP national truck protection is this a good plan.
Currently driving a 2015 Volvo 800k milk miles, it is making an extremely loud noise in 50 degree or higher weather.. and it doesn’t make sound when I’m in colder weather. TA truck stop said it has something to do with A/C. Any info?
Just bought a 2012 with a D13 motor. After it 's ran a few minunntes, I can hear fuel draining back into the passenger side tank. After that, it's hard to crank unless you manually prime it. Before the fuel drainback is heard, it cranks fine. Changed both fuel filters already and no leaks or changes in the problem. Any help with check valves to look at and where they are lcated would be really appreciated.

on mine, the idle gear that turns the power steer/fuel pump, went bad, ate up all the gearing back there! crankcase vent motor seal. and the exhaust thin round gaskets after the turbo. just leaked fluid/smoke during regen.
I've been losing about 12 gals of oil every three days on my D13. It's not coming out of the stack as the engine runs at idle nor being driven on the road. In addition it's not leaking on the ground...until it sits at idle after being driven for an extend period of time. Or, if you start it and let it sit at high idle(9,000rpm) for about 5 minutes, it will start spewing oil out of the blow-by tube. So could you please give me some insight as to what repairs may be needed? Thank you.
Hello, I have a Volvo 2013 D 13 engine just change the head and turbo. Everything is fine on the truck runs great now but one issue that I can’t figure out whenever I turn the truck on the truck is cooled as soon as it gets too 120° with the cruise control on, it starts to fluctuate until it gets up to 155 to 160 the fluctuation goes away. Can you help?
Has anyone gotten a “stop engine fault” come up on the dash? It will come on and after a few second goes away. This issue began after the truck had a nox sensor change. Not really sure whats causing it and no one seem to know not even a Volvo dealership 🤦🏼♂️
My husband drives a Volvo and he has been having trouble with when he goes up hill around 68 to 70 mph the rpm’s starts jumping and it kinda acts like it’s not getting enough fuel or something they’ve already changed turbo sensors and a lot of other stuff but still does same mechanic says computer doesn’t say that there is anything wrong with injectors so not sure what is wrong do you have any suggestions
2016 volvo d13, just put new batteries in thinking that was the starting issue, but it still is almost like almost dead batteries, turn the key and it acts like its trying then doesnt, then after about 4 turns of the key, it turns right over. Volvo d13 ishift is a great truck. Used to work for mclane and that’s all they had. Never had issues with one and transmission shifted smooth.
So appears that when most folks think they need injectors just retighten down the injectors may keep you going for a while?

I drive a 2021 VNL760. When the cab warn up to 62 degrees. The heater will only work with the temp knob on 80.

Yes, it turned out to be the camshaft. I've raced cars and built engines, but the Volvo camshaft is pressed together. Junk!!

We have a 2013 Volvo in the shop right now with almost 600,000 that will crank but no start ECM has been checked along with all fuses and relays new fuel filter and new fuel pump customer states they used the truck all day parked it that evening and it wouldn't start the next morning any help would be greatly appreciated
My acceleration pedal keeps cutting of then engages back specially when my ac is on.
Changed fuel filter / ecm / batteries. Still same issue.
When I Start my truck. Hill assist light blink for few seconds . Also abs and tcs light comes on stay steady for few seconds then goes away. During driving time , it comes once a week stay for few seconds and goes away . Truck driven ok . What might be the cause for those lights to show up

Hi I have 2014 VNL with D13, now one's a while while I'm driving it loses exhilaration, it could be any speed, highway or city limits, I take off exhilaration my foot and pressed again and all over the sadden even think is OK .

2016 Volvo D13 500k no check engine or any other lights on the dash. Truck does have a problem with gaining speed when loaded. Speed is at a max of 55 mph.

What about the fuel gauge sensor? I’ve driven a couple of these and would fill these things up with diesel and the gauge would still read a quarter of a tank. Which is a bit frustrating.

Now when it shifts, 3, 5, 7, 9 it fells like its punching on engagement. also it is engaging to 5 gear way on low RPM from 1300 to 500rpm almost kills the engine. any comments?

I'm looking at getting a 2011 780 & the guy got it in 2018, removed the one axle, had new driveshaft made and computer flashed so it won't look for it. Not sure if it was programmed as an rv since it has a auto h he built the deck on it. I know it has a diesel particulate filter on it and 1.1 million miles. He says it runs great and only gets 1 or 2 k miles a year on it. I've asked him to get fluids tested & asking about all the stuff you mentioned here. Guess is would this be a good reliable truck for a few more years & being driven mostly a few times a month and using as an rv since it has an apu? Parts & service are my biggest concern for here in Southwest Arizona because dealers are 2.5 hours east or west & parts availability with prices.

I got a d13 Volvo motor that’s weak…I swap motors and it’s still weak. I go up a small hill and it’s slows down to 45-50 mph don’t have a clue why/what it causes it….i have my ecm set by Volvo dealership at 500 hp and used both my ecm and Volvo ecm and it’s still weak.😢😢😢😢

On my 2012 Volvo VNL 670 there is a main power switch by the drivers door it’s not working do you know what’s the problem is?
I also see a lot of the lower DPF housings cracked at the welds by the DEF doser and also oil pushing through the oil sensors or injector harness and pushing through engine harness.

I've got a 2013 volvo I shift we swapped out Trans with a good used and used existing tecu but now I have no speedometer, engine brake or cruise control. Checked harness and all sensors tested good. Any ideas?

So I got my 2016 Volvo fixed at this shop in Philadelphia. I was told I had to clean my DPF, I had to replace the doser (otherwise the truck wouldn’t do a regen), and they also said I had to replace one of the injectors. Not sure which one. And also 2 knock sensors. After all of this, the truck seemed to run okay for few days but then I noticed something odd about the transmission. I never had any issues with my transmission before. The problem is becoming more and more obvious. When cruising on a straight road, it automatically downshifts to lower gear for few seconds, making the engine scream. When pressing the gas, you can feel a bit of a vibration (never had this issue before) and also, when backing up a trailer, it starts reversing with R1 which makes the truck jerk and shake crazy so I have to manually upshift the gear to r2. I called the shop and they can’t give me any tip other than calling me back to the shop. Can you guys help me out figuring out what might be the issue? Thank you

I’ve change the check valve, i’ change the clutch i change all the filters air & Fuel and my truck still jerks going uphill only on the uphill I feel like I’m going on a pothole it’s something has to do with the fuel what do you think it is? 2007 volvo vnl D12 engine has no code. Nothing on the computer fuel pressure is normal when they put the fuel pressure or pressure test.

I did get the two year warranty. The company who offered the warranty is NTP national truck protection is this a good plan.

Just bought a 2012 with a D13 motor. After it 's ran a few minunntes, I can hear fuel draining back into the passenger side tank. After that, it's hard to crank unless you manually prime it. Before the fuel drainback is heard, it cranks fine. Changed both fuel filters already and no leaks or changes in the problem. Any help with check valves to look at and where they are lcated would be really appreciated.

on mine, the idle gear that turns the power steer/fuel pump, went bad, ate up all the gearing back there! crankcase vent motor seal. and the exhaust thin round gaskets after the turbo. just leaked fluid/smoke during regen.

I've been losing about 12 gals of oil every three days on my D13. It's not coming out of the stack as the engine runs at idle nor being driven on the road. In addition it's not leaking on the ground...until it sits at idle after being driven for an extend period of time. Or, if you start it and let it sit at high idle(9,000rpm) for about 5 minutes, it will start spewing oil out of the blow-by tube. So could you please give me some insight as to what repairs may be needed? Thank you.

Hello, I have a Volvo 2013 D 13 engine just change the head and turbo. Everything is fine on the truck runs great now but one issue that I can’t figure out whenever I turn the truck on the truck is cooled as soon as it gets too 120° with the cruise control on, it starts to fluctuate until it gets up to 155 to 160 the fluctuation goes away. Can you help?

My husband drives a Volvo and he has been having trouble with when he goes up hill around 68 to 70 mph the rpm’s starts jumping and it kinda acts like it’s not getting enough fuel or something they’ve already changed turbo sensors and a lot of other stuff but still does same mechanic says computer doesn’t say that there is anything wrong with injectors so not sure what is wrong do you have any suggestions
I recommend troubleshooting the fuel system by replacing the fuel filters, and if the problem persists, then an air-in-fuel test should be conducted.
2016 volvo d13, just put new batteries in thinking that was the starting issue, but it still is almost like almost dead batteries, turn the key and it acts like its trying then doesnt, then after about 4 turns of the key, it turns right over. I'm thinking starter is going bad, but I dont know where it is on the d13. can you do a video or pictures zoomed out and then somewhat in close so that I can see its location? Thanks in advance

Having a problem while starting from zero or coming down to 5 or 8 miles, try to speed up truck stuttering, hesitate to puck up speed. It's like for 4 to 8 or 10 seconds and then starts running normal. No loss of power or any problems. No code. Can you help?
