In this video we visited our local Sherwin Williams paint store and we dove deep into their massive color deck. We searched the internet, asked painting professionals, and even chatted about white paint sales with our local Sherwin Williams rep. Extra White, Pure White and Alabaster are very similar in color but are the three most popular white paint that SW has to offer. Can you spot much difference?

I used SW Pure White in my new construction and love it! I also used it on the baseboards. it is such a loverly, warm white and it brightens my home on dreary winter days.
Your large scale comparisons were very helpful. Thank you. I’m planning on rolling the first coat on my primed walls with SW Origami White. The second coat will be hand brushed on with either Pure White or Extra White that will be diluted with water. I want it to look similar to a faux glazed finish. I might use the quart samples of the SW Pure White and SW Extra White and add a quart to a 1/2 or 1 gallon of water. I need to test these on sample boards. The trim will be either Pure White or Extra White.
So helpful! Seeing them side by side, and in very LARGE swatches, was very enlightening. Please do more like these!

Excellent video. I have alabaster walls a pure white for trim after seeing it on the wall for a few months now Ive come to realize Alabaster has alot more yellow in it and its much more apparent against pure white.
I'm in the process of a remodel and having my interior painted in Alabaster. Loving how bright it makes my home! Ceilings are Alabaster in flat, walls Alabaster in eggshell, and trim is Alabaster in semi-gloss. So clean looking and visually opens up the rooms, making my average size rooms look really spacious.
Excellent! I'm also considering a color drench with either Alabaster or Greek Villa. Doing a washable matte walls, flat ceiling & satin doors and trim. How did yours turn out?
@@niawho6931 , I'm loving it! I was a bit afraid of doing a color drench in Alabaster since in the past I've used white ceilings and white trim with various colors for walls. This is the only way to go and I will never do otherwise now that I have done it! It has really brightened up and opened up the way my home looks. I have never been happier! BTW, my home is 35 yrs old, so it's seen a lot of paint changes, but this, this is LOVE!!

To do sample in my house do I need to paint our ceiling white first because it’s a crest toothpaste color starter house, ceilings included. I haven’t liked any samples I’ve tried, like it may be reflecting green off the ceiling.

I just painted my walls & Bedroom with SW CREAMY & it's just a gorgeous shade of Cream I just Love it, My house is rather Dark with not a lot of Natural light & this is the perfect shade!

I just have to add my two cents here. We chose pure white because our kitchen cabinets were coming in Sherwin-Williams pure white so we decided to do the whole house in it. our other favorite was snowbound but it has a slight pinkish tint but is amazing as well. I don’t know how long white is going to stay in style but I am so glad we chose pure white because it really just blends in so well at all times of day. We have black mat hardware and White Oak floors. If you’re looking for that modern farmhouse white but not too bright this is definitely the one. If you have to go with Benjamin Moore then you have to choose between White Dove and another one I can’t think of right now but chantilly lace is the right one but is amazing as well. If you’re painting your older houses exterior I would give a little caution because sometimes they appear like a wannabe house do you know what I mean? If you stick true to the craftsmanship of the house you may be better off. Like a light gray or greige or even the same color you have.
Sherwin recommended and sold me High reflective without telling me it has horrible coverage. Cant say Im thrilled with SW at this point.

Hi Kurapika! The wall color is Classic Gray OC-23 and the trim color is White Dove OC-17, and both are from Benjamin Moore.

Hi Lee, the walls are Classic Gray by Benjamin Moore. This is actually in our shop and the ceilings aren't painted back there. We have the same color up in our office where we have white tile ceilings.
Should I use pure white on my cabinets ,walls and trims inside the house ? I was even considering it for exterior house 🏡
go with what makes you happy! At the end of the day, it's all about making the homeowner happy with the color
We actually did and do not regret it one bit. So happy we did. Matt on the interior walls eggshell on the exterior siding and the next thing up for the trims. I’m always happy when I look at our white color. If you want the modern bright thing then go with Chantilly lace or high reflective. If you have to use Benjamin Moore then maybe White Dove for the not too bright white like sw pure white. I’m not sure what sheen we used on our pure white kitchen cabinets but it is not shiny and looks amazing.

Help! I went to buy SW 1095 but it's not at my SW store. Older color so what color is that closest to now on your wheel. Not sure if Alabaster would work.

It was an older home and the previous owner had the color. I have no swatch to color match! Thanks for quick response!
If any of the light switch or outlet covers were painted, you can take them to the store for a color match. If not, you can take a small sample from the wall and take it to be color matched.
Do you think alabaster would go good with white kitchen cabinets?
I think so! Alabaster goes great with everything

Hello, You can look at Sherwin Williams Pure White, or they also have a Ceiling Bright White as well.

Absolutely! You can do the wall and ceilings in the same color and just change the sheen. We recommend using a flat finish on ceilings and eggshell on walls.
Do they have a white that is not off white?

Hi! Could you give me a suggestion for a white cabinet that looks good with white appliances? I’d like a neutral as I have a lot of browns and creams in my floor but I don’t wanna pull yellow. I also get a good amount of natural sunlight. Thanks from Florida 😊
Hi Lillian, Unfortunately there isn't a standard appliance white so your white appliances might be different than someone else's. You may be able to google your specific appliances to see if anyone has found a white that matches. If not, we have found people have luck using just a base without added color. Visit your local paint store to get some dried down samples in the sheen you want and then compare them to your appliances. Your appliances may match a base without any color, or you might need to tweak it a bit.
I would recommend possibly a soft white or maybe an eggshell. If you want a bright white, then polar. Or artic if you want a white with a blue tint
Also a High Reflective white looks nice too, nice white with a shine
Alabaster is so hard to pair with. I tried it in my hallway i eneded up changing to bright white #7007
Hi Nene, thanks for watching! Hopefully the bright white worked out better for you. If you run into similar issues in the future, you can try using the same color, but a different sheen. For example, use an eggshell on the walls, flat on the ceiling, and a semi-gloss or gloss on the trim.
