I want to paint the bottom 1/2 of my ranch home (Rambler) but it has a very nice coyote tan brick from 1957 problem is the mortar is a good 1/2 to 3/4 inch set back and the brick pops out with a ripple effect. I know I’ll have moisture sitting on the ledges like mentioned in video. Painting brick is almost like taking a maintenance free decking but then changing it knowing you’ll be hanging out every year or 2 lol.

To me, painting brick any color at all damages the brick and lowers the value of the home. But that's just me.

Is the sealer only used because of leftover wallpaper glue that would not come off even after the hot water/3mm pad clean? Thanks for a detailed video!

Doing a scuff test after a few days is pointless. The difference between Behr and BM is the CPVC ratio. This is the ratio of pigment to binders. Behr has a higher pigment value on almost all their paints. BM has more binders often requiring more coats (Most Behr is one coat and a backroll) Either way I’ve never worked with a paint that didn’t take 28 days to properly cure…despite what Benji says.

I have a contract at Sherwin. I don’t have one with benji for a reason. The CPVC ratio is always lower (requiring more coats) on BM and the paint is often much more expensive.

no, it looks awful..they are flipping homes in my neighborhood and painting all the houses black or black and white, how awful..no color...generic crap. Quit ruining homes and the brick.

When you paint the foundation, how do you keep the dirt from kicking up on the new paint? I have some 1/4 inch plywood I am thinking about using for protection. Also, my foundation has some indentations from the forms, what can I use to fill these spots, can I use fibrous cement or quick set?
