The RX10 mark IV is not under-rated at all? It's at the number 1 spot of compact/bridge camera lists on nearly every website/magazine for the past 3 years. Everyone on the internet just drools all over this machine, and for a good reason.
In my country the price gap is much higher: a7c kit costs $2,550 and as for RX10 IV I’ve bought it recently for $1,350 (both prices for new cameras with official warranty). As for your comparison - it’s more in a podcast style. I would appreciate if you added some photo comparison in the way smartphone cameras are tested (same scenes, similar settings) and with 100% crops.
Oh and you're the first to mention the flash...my Canon m6 markii has a flash you can point at the ceiling and bounce it off. Has worked for indoor portraits for me. I know it is not pro. But it works.
Brilliant and spot-on review!!! I'm a studio and location photographer working with medium and small format digitals!... I have just shot 4 press ads for landrover using the RX10M4, shots was taken around famous Salmon Rivers with flyfishers etc!..the RX10M4 is in fact the only camera you will ever need and I strongly believe that this is the future and in a few years time the dslr's will be history! no need for them..Size of sensors is of course paramount but with todays digital technology, programs etc its overcome!...in one word this camera is: amazing!
Once again great review and I have just sold my RX10mk3 to get into my first full frame - A7C. My main reason for outing the Mk3 is that I'm convinced 2021 will see the launch of the mk5 RX10 and whilst I was very tempted with the mk4, it just wasn't a big enough jump up for me. Totally agree on your appraisal for the RX10 - it is an amazing camera with quality and ease of use at the top for basically a bargain price. You can bet your bottom dollar the mk5 will be a heck of a lot more cash.
Still relevant in 2024... Impressive camera RX10IV. The mark V never came out but still there isn't any bridge camera in the market that compete with it. And still is the go-to all-in one solution for all those of us who have their full frame monster and still feel the need to have something lighter, no-fuss no-muss to travel with without compromising quality that much. Where I live is practically the same price as the a6700 with a kit lens, which make the decision even more difficult. Love the video!
Nice review good to see you have the balls to do this. It would be nice to be able to download sample footage so we can see the difference in video quality without the compression of RUclips
Great review and comparison as always mate!.For the viewers, my recommendation is get the RX10 IV for Photography, fantastic quality and zoom range. Get the A7C for video with the 20mm 1.8 !. Cheers!
I have an rx10 and love it - it feels in the hand like driving a jcw mini - so much fun - decent lens and range is great - loads of manual control - and capable of some corker images - an absolute 'grab and go' bargain imho - the a7c's auto-focus-tracking would be the cherry on top for the rx10 v - fingers crossed the features u request materialise soon - thank u for this comparison - good stuff
I have both , they are amazing cameras. Use the rx10 for wildlife close ups etc. a7 c I use for portrait etc and architectural shots. Use both for my street photography
Great review, thanks. I have thr rx10 iv and love it. I love the " no pro wants a flash" thing. Been in photography business for 39 years and occasionally use fill flash outdoors or for candids at our dance studio customers location. Also we encountered a strange situation at Ballet Arizona Nutcracker a few years back where our sync chords weren't working and we had no pocket wizards so we used the on camera flash to fire the studio light slaves. Anyway, have had the rx10 iv for a few years and eagerly look forward to the V.
I'm thinking to buy the RX10 IV now but you scared me with the possibility of a new RX10 V. What you should do? Wait or buy it? When can be that new camera out on the market?
I own the Sony ZV-1 and I can assure you that this camera can satisfy your demands. Of course you can buy the incredible Xiaomi mi 11 @ €900 with great battery capacity and similar or better results. Take a note that the battery of Sony ZV-1 drains too fast, it is available for 100-150 photos, not for 200+ as advertised. You will need 4-5 extra batteries to reach the smartphone's battery capacity. But Sony's video performance is better than any smartphone. For photos even a smartphone of €1000 can compete Sony ZV-1 plus you can edit and send your photos directly from your smartphone. The only downside with smartphones is that you can NOT take excellent selfie photos because they do not have a flip screen.
This aged well 🤣 and it's September 26th 2022. I'm probably going to get the m4 despite the 5 not being out. At least it's true and tried plenty of guides and books on this camera. The 5 only needs just a few biggerish upgrades but they will crank the price through the roof. I think realistically the 2 biggest cons to this camera is a flip screen upgrade and obviously a bigger sensor. But #1 the screen flip. Other than that this camera can do everything good and in some cases great.
I have bought the Sony ZV-1 with €700. In the case your mobile is under €600-700 and you are not very satisfied with your photos, Sony ZV-1 is an upgrade from your phone with much better results. You can save €1000 and wait for the RX-10 V as I did. Or in the second scenario you can buy the incredible Xiaomi mi 11 @€900 which is comparable with Sony ZV-1 at photos and still wait for Rx 10 v.
The RX10 M4 is probably one of the most under rated camera on the market. It can do marvels to whom know how to work with it.
Haven`t seen ANY downrates on that camera. Only goodies. Have one myself as well
I get one

I agree...hopefully, Sony wakes up. Thanks for watching
We are in 2023 and there is still no replacement for the almighty rx10iv!
One day
Nice review good to see you have the balls to do this.

I travelling with my rx10 iv and my rx1. Fit in small bag and does almost everything.

The Sony RX10m4 is an awesome camera. Waiting eagerly for the M5. I am sure it will be the best bridge camera of all time.
Brilliant video from over the pond merry Xmas

It’s now 2022 and still no mark5

What you should do? Wait or buy it?
When can be that new camera out on the market?
Q3 2022 or Q1 2023. Im buying the iv end of this month 🤗🤗
Have there been any leaks about a Mark V release?
I have a sony Rx10iv, love the camera. May I know which gimbal you use for your song rx10iv please?
still waiting for RX10 mkV
......
Is it true that the RX10 doesn't perform well in low light situations ?
It is much noisier than full frame for sure and auto focus speed gets worse in low light.
what len for your sony a7c equivalent to 24-600mm in rx10IV?
I wonder why they don't make RX10IV to be APS-C. The lens is already big.
Because with APS-C the 24 -600 lens would be a really heavy and expensive beast
Where has the RX10 V gone? Parts shortage?
Can you tell me if the sony would be good for real estate, basically shooting rooms? As nobody has covered this subject with a bridge camera.

why is the Mark 5 still nowhere in sight?
coming soon
@@TheDigitalDigest why did you just give me hope for the Mk5 😢

Interessant ! Danke !
Shall I wait for mark 5 or go ahead and buy the 4?
