The rust, oh yes the rust 😂 when I bought mine it didn't look too bad even my welder fabricator friend said it looked pretty good. I knew it needed sills and arches but I have spent an insane amount of time dealing with the metal work. I'm sure you know but when you start digging into it there's gonna be some nasty surprises 😂
I'm about 2 years in to a complete restoration and I'm guessing another 18months to go 🤣
Would I go back in time if I could... Nope. When "Rolly" is finally finished he will be my home and we are gonna travel all over Europe. Worth every bit of blood sweat and tears in my opinion 😊
Good luck with your project buddy. I'll be watching this one for sure 👍🏻
By the sound of it you’re doing a full nut and bolt resto, and I take my hat off to you sir, I know full well about hidden rust, and that makes it so much harder when evaluating the job in hand. I don’t think I’ll go to the lengths and measures you have but I will certainly be addressing the rust and carrying out the welding 👍
One of those isn't it, it's like you definitely want to restore it, especially as it's keeping another van alive and well but it's just massively time consuming, £600 though, a worthy buy none the less
Get it done ✅
Would love to see you restore the old girl .
if you have the time. keep it running
Its great when you see a T4 that is still looking factory but there are virtually non left.
Love to see you restore it
So would I 🤞
Your channel will go nuts for this restoration. What a project. 👀🤙
Hope so! 🤞 🤙
Sliding door track looks nasty, if it requires welding, then yeah...
"Loads of fun".
I've spent working every day 2 months trying to figure out, how to install the stainless steel track.
Hell of a job... 😅
Restoring it is the only way😏 But then again I'm biased
im watching for it to be saved with a sympathetic rebuild , fingers crossed
Great stuff twiggy ! Will live watching you do this .. I have the same van
Id be interested in seeing this restored - got one in a similar state body wise and would love to see what exactly is involved before I commit 😂
Please can we see a part restoration 👍
All day be great to see resto what a 💎
Cracking van especially being a LWB
I reckon you should do a full restoration & would get loads of interest for your channel buddy 👍🏻
That's the plan 🤞
Good project I will be watching this space cheers
It needs a lot of money chucking at it. I would check rear floor by susspension to see how that is. Its a toss of a coin if its worth it or not, only you know the answer. Personally ide take the gearbox out and strip it for parts. What ever figure you think of the parts will cost it will cost at least 30% more when you find more and more.
Good luck with it. Would make good content for us.
Please try and save it 🤙
Guessing the hole in the floor was a diesel heater install 😁
I'm in the same place on scrapping or finishing an old project. Mine only has rust around the window though the rest is really good. Even has the original paint on both side door runners & original paint in the front wings. (2002 LWB Sedan velle with all the toys 260K). Or do I just keep it in the garage & wait for the prices to go mad? Christine My old van just keeps passing her MOT's without advisories for the last 14 years which is why I've not bothered finishing the Velle.
Definitely worth doing mate
Easy for u 😅
Absolutely, gives me a boost of confidence coming from a skilled man like yourself 🙏 🤙
Defo restore it.
Nice one Twiggs
Think it might be clean air zone exempt being a motorhome?
Love your work Twiggs restore it I need your tutorial help cmon Bro full restoration and sell it on 100% 🎉
Coming soon! 👍
Do it!!
I have a similar van, but mines an 03 caravelle with a long nose. Mine had the same issue with the slave cyl even.
Would love to seea timing bet diy, mine is near due at 395000 km
Slave cylinder on the o2g gearbox is a pain because is located inside the bell housing.
I do have a diy guide on how to do the cambelt and diesel pump timing on this engine the 2.5tdi on my channel
Save the bus
Are you certain it's the gearbox on the red one? I've just tied my tired gear linkages up and now it selects reverse much easier. it was the ball and socket joint on the engine side. The T-piece rod was slipping slightly out of it not allowing the gear selector plate on top of the gearbox to move low enough down to the correct level to find reverse. Full 12-piece bush and socket replacement ordered.
Yeah it’s definitely the gearbox on the red one, I’ve replaced bushes, I was able to confirm it was the gearbox by disconnecting the gearbox linkage and from the selector on top of the box I was able to engage it into reverse by hand, when the clutch is released it jumps out of gear 😔
How many miles has she done twiggy ?
250k miles
i will take the R&R bed £75
Bet you would at that price 😂😂😜3 times that offer would still be cheeky for an original Rib seat.
To be fair I wanted it gone so it was sold cheap, and the buyer got a bargain
Hey mate i have an o2b EWB gearbox for sale - reach out to me
I need the o2g gearbox thank anyway buddy 👍
Add up all the time you spend on these repairs compared to actually earning money from a job and you could of bought a mint one
Even if you fixed everything how much would it go for 2-3k maybe 😂😂
I think the fact that this is a registered motorhome on the v5 adds value as it’s not as straightforward now to get this classification, but I have been keeping track of hours and money spent so far
