Keep in mind this was was recorded almost 25 years ago....it was going to be a song on his second album to be released right before he died in 1997! Jeff Buckley's timeless music is still so beautiful in 2020.
Don't just listen the one song, play the whole album. Grace was and still is his magnum opus, decades after his death many musical artist still list it as one of their personal favorite releases.
hi Joe ..I have been fortunate to be in love with this song for the past twenty yrs and I am now 61 ...such a shame out music is now mostly remixed crap
Who's listening to this timeless masterpiece on the first day of 2023? New Year's Day here in Seoul is almost finished but still. Jeff Buckley is just so sublime. I was introduced to his music in 1996 when I was a freshman in university and he is still my No.1 artist.
It's a shame this man passed away at the prime of his career. I didn't discover him til years after his death and had his album Grace for many years.. just discovered this album and began listening to it... :) Beautiful lyrics and voice... You don't find this very often.
I had the cd laying around, which my dad got himself when Jeff was still small, before hallelujah blew up, and the vinyl we for some reason also owned was sitting around, so I laid down and gave the record a spin. Amazed I was.
29 pearls in your kiss A singing smile Coffee smell and lilac skin Your flame in me 29 pearls in your kiss A singing smile Coffee smell and lilac skin Your flame in me I'm only here for this moment I know everybody here wants you I know everybody here thinks he needs you I'll be waiting right here just to show you How our love will blow it all away Hmm, such a thing of wonder in this crowd I'm a stranger in this town You're free with me And our eyes locked in downcast love I sit here proud Even now, you're undressed in your dreams with me Oh, I'm only here for this moment I know everybody here wants you I know everybody here thinks he needs you I'll be waiting right here just to show you How our love will blow it all away I know the tears we cried Have dried on yesterday The sea of fools has parted for us There's nothing in our way, my love Don't you see, don't you see? This song makes me feel like those first moments of attraction and getting to know somebody. You're a little scared bit it's exciting to see their face and suddenly look away, because your face might explode and then to jump them when it's dark out and the quirks at the end of each other's face as they kiss
prince’s career spanned for well over 30 years.. i wish jeff buckley’s music spanned for that long. all that’s left are live recordings, the grace album, and sketches for my sweetheart the drunk which was largely unfinished. indescribably sad…
26 years since jeff passed away… he deserved to live a longer life but his music will live forever. such an incredible and talented human. you’ll always be remembered.
this song is just so beautiful, it has such a nice r&b/soul sound to it. i adore all of his music but just imagine if we had the chance to have a whole album of songs from jeff like this💔
Jeff on the CRT tvs really encaptures the feeling that he's gone, very sad video. I always imagined the video being Jeff playing on stage intercut with him singing to a lady at some social gathering
And jeff said in one interview, that he knows he acts more in touch with his feminine side, and that's the side he most loved to write in, and he knows girls love that about him, and he loved women alot
True story about this song.. Jeff never wanted it to be released and had the producer hide the tapes... And when he died Sony demanded all of the tapes be turned over to them... Jeff was worried that people would think he was trying to be Lenny Kravitz... And the irony is Jeff was nominated for a Grammy for the song for best male vocalist, and he lost to Lenny Kravitz
i didn’t know Jeff was no longer here with us. this song was recommended in my discover weekly two weeks ago and it just happens that it was played a lot by my dad in the house growing up. this song is so alluring.
This song makes me feel so good because Jeff's lyrics makes me realize you are loved even though you feel alone. But the truth is you are not alone and everybody feels what you feel but guess what Everybody here loves you and I believe Jeff wanted us all to know that. His emotions in his voice makes me realize that we are loved, remember you are loved and not alone.
Told you, whenever I'll listen to something beautiful, I'll be hearing you... Part of you lives in this music, which somehow keeps me sane. Thank you, my twin soul, for bringing this amazing artist into my life. You pretty much still live in mine
I seriously cannot stop listening to this song! It’s a great way to start the day, great mood lifter and calms you down at the same in the middle of the day, and for sure a great song in the evening!
Damn, this song captures what it feels like to find beauty through sadness and isolation.. Especially when you know you can never get what you want.. I think the video highlights how the lady is desired by most of the men she passed by at the airport but she is haunted by the man of her dream (Jeff Buckley).. But she can never have him since he is no longer alive.. That kind of feeling makes you wanna curl up into a suitcase for sure.. Beautiful video for a beautiful song
don't mind me im just posting the lyrics so i can sing along: Twenty-nine pearls in your kiss, a singing smile Coffee smell, and lilac skin, your flame in me Twenty-nine pearls in your kiss, a singing smile Coffee smell, and lilac skin, your flame in me I'm only here for this moment I know everybody here wants you I know everybody here thinks they need you I'll be waiting right here just to show you How our love will blow it all away Such a thing of wonder in this crowd I'm a stranger in this town, you're free with me And our eyes are locked in downcast love I sit here proud Even now you're undressed in your dreams with me I'm only here for this moment I know everybody here wants you I know everybody here thinks he needs you I'll be waiting right here just to show you How our love will blow it all away And all the tears we cried have dried on yesterday A sea of fools have parted for us, there's nothing in our way, my love Don't you see? Even though this music video was posthumous and probably not in line with what Jeff would've wanted, I still think it's beautiful. This beautiful yet childlike woman caught in the beauty of the large, freeing airport. Roaming around so curiously. But the strangers puzzle and scare her. And the few stills of her watching Jeff and him watching her. That'd be like him. That fleeting, guileless spirit is something we all lose throughout the adversities of life. But an oh so very few still retain it. Jeff was one of them. Oh honey, everybody here still wants you.
What an immense talent taken too soon. It will always be one of the what ifs.... today most of his music is leagues ahead of anything on play and its resonance is astounding in terms of depth. Rip seemed like a deep affable person as well.
It was a tragic day when the world lost Jeff and his beautiful voice and amazing songwriting skills. The past few decades is sadly lacking in musicians of his high caliber.
Wallace Rose I have and love it! But for some real Jeff Buckley soul, listen to his cover of Please Send Me Someone To Love. It drips with soulful guitar playing and vocals.
I still shocked by this man, his geniously, his mistery, his pain and love for music, the way and the moment that he died... man! .. Jeff its one of a kind!!! Its music its magic...his life I don't know how to describe it!

I love this song. I know I always will. It is legendary.
Remember when you used to record music videos? I never stopped playing this over and over, phenomenal track, great video, beautiful girl, still obsessed with it, simply magnificent, so upsetting his demise.
I was in love after that very first melody! How is it possible that music could really be this beautiful?? My grandma use to say that God or the invisible man take the good ones to heaven early! So true in his case. Such sensitivity in his voice it's simply intoxicating and addictive! ❤️
I love but I just love this song. It´s been a week that i listen to it, and never can get enough... This song has a Little something that makes you addicted to it. And the Words... oh the Words.. simple but so heartbreaking.
First song I heard from Jeff,on the radio.I was amazed by his talent and voice. But later on the same week the sad news. The world can't even begin to imagine the great musician that was lost for all of us. It is a good thing that there are so many live concerts and unreleased work available.
Such a beautiful voice and my favorite song by Jeff. I feel so cheated that he was taken so young, but I feel so grateful for the wonderful music he has left us with
Still listening to this in 2020....his voice was amazing....this song still makes me melt when i listen to it. Was just so talented. Miss you Jeff Buckley!

He could do anything. He didn't belong to any genre. He was a genre all on his own.

This song sounds like it was released just yesterday. So timeless
My mother thought it was new.
That's soooo true! This song and music video is timeless!
My heart breaks just a little bit more for Jeff every time I hear his music.
Hmm.. dropping a bomb on chocolatcastle is better or donuts around the bombe flambé... but you would say that it's an icker on MY OWN HELMET
@KB hmmm.. you deserve a shmuckie from his compliant Royal guards.. :'|
Same 😢
Jeff Buckley's voice and style was way ahead of his time. This song could début tomorrow and it will still be a hit.
Still true!!!
I wish it could release tomorrow and hear it again for the first time

Yes

In my 60's, never heard this guy until now...blown away with his soulful singing. Yuge fan now! The internet actually CAN be nice & fun ..

He's one of the few singers that can sing all genres of music accurately. This is straight up R&B and then on the next song he sings hard rock.
It really is… pleases me greatly ❤

Hey Lise. I think you summed up this song and my feelings for it perfectly… love from Ireland, jo☘️💚
Jeff Buckley with the Prince feels... this is heavenly ! two great artists both gone too soon :(
It's so not prince, this is far better than anything prince ever done.
Exactly
prince’s career spanned for well over 30 years.. i wish jeff buckley’s music spanned for that long. all that’s left are live recordings, the grace album, and sketches for my sweetheart the drunk which was largely unfinished. indescribably sad…

Would’ve loved to see them work together…

Jeff the perfect blend of everything, the cry and emotions in his voice.
There is so much soul in this song it almost brings me to tears. Absolutely beautiful

great comment. great art does that. so rare.
Matt Bellamy(muse frontman) bought Jeff’s cream telecaster.
I was in love after that very first melody! How is it possible that music could really be this beautiful?? My grandma use to say that God or the invisible man take the good ones to heaven early! So true in his case. Such sensitivity in his voice it's simply intoxicating and addictive! ❤️
Amazing. One of the best recordings ever. If not the best. The passion.
Buckley delivered a soulful masterpiece with this.
I love but I just love this song. It´s been a week that i listen to it, and never can get enough... This song has a Little something that makes you addicted to it. And the Words... oh the Words.. simple but so heartbreaking.
perfection. would have loved to have met this genius
You don't find Jeff, Jeff finds you.
really
so real
Omg he really did wth lmao
Exactly
First song I heard from Jeff,on the radio.I was amazed by his talent and voice. But later on the same week the sad news. The world can't even begin to imagine the great musician that was lost for all of us. It is a good thing that there are so many live concerts and unreleased work available.
when did you get the sad news
Pure magic rhythm and haunting vocals. I'm here just in this moment...❤
A Beautiful
memory 💚
"And I rise like an ember in your name..." Damn, Jeff.
Such a beautiful voice and my favorite song by Jeff. I feel so cheated that he was taken so young, but I feel so grateful for the wonderful music he has left us with
Learned of Jeff’s music from a TV show and now can’t recall the series…but this man’s music is timeless. 🐑🐑🇳🇿🇳🇿NZ
That bass. God damn it's good. Jeff's a legend, of course.
Still listening to this in 2020....his voice was amazing....this song still makes me melt when i listen to it. Was just so talented. Miss you Jeff Buckley!
Such a beautiful lyrics. As well as to sing beautifully, he was a great songwriter too!
Amazing how every Jeff Buckley's song makes me want to close my eyes and forget about the world...
Best musician ever, always!
❤
Annie Clark once told me "You know if he had lived he would have changed that bridge!" ...maybe, but really, this is perfection. Indescribable music.
