Another lovely relaxing video, and those crepes and buns look delicious. My Gran used to make her own potted shrimps, and when I stayed with my Grandparents as a child, we had them on toast for supper. They were so good. She didn't have a fridge in those days, and kept the jars in the pantry, the spiced butter being the preservative. Unfortunately when Gran passed away she took her recipe with her and I've never tasted the like again. Best wishes to you all from England 🤗🤗🐶

I came across your New Year’s Eve video somehow and since then I have really enjoyed watching your videos. ESP the ones in Siberia. It reminds me of simple times when I lived in a small apartment with my family in Canada. We live in a world with so much consumerism and these videos just reminds me of appreciating the simple things like fresh buns and coffee.

Thank you for sharing the kitchen love with us. Both the berry vatruski and liver crepes/blinis looked amazing! Nothing even comes close to those here in Washington state, but I am originally from Texas where there a blend of many cultures, including Russian in central and south Texas. The closest things in that area of Texas come from a small town named West, where there is a well known Czech community with a family owned bakery that sells kolaches (fruit) like vatruski, and klobasniki (meat) in buns but not crepes. SO good! Matt looked a bit down in K'stan. Hope he gets home to you soon.

Julia your Grandmother reminds me of my Grandmother. My Mother and Grandmother inspired me to become a Chef. I remember making Lemon Curd when I was 4 years old and pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. Once I'd help make a Yorkshire Pudding. It Rose that will it stuck to the top oven. It was inedible. So my Grandmother made a giant pancake and laid over the mashed potatoes and hid the pancake with the gravy and some vegetables. My Grandfather didn't complain one bit. The laughs we had over that throughout the years... I can feel the love through the camera you are one close knit family. This has brightened up my day and everything looked delicious

Really enjoyed you and your grand cooking. I have been watching all you young kids (I'm a 68 year old grandmother) for a couple years. I'm from USA and for some reason people from Russia did seem normal like us. I blame the news from both countries. You could be living next door to me a would never know you are Russian. I love watching your grand, she makes things just like me.... Question you said that you used cottage cheese and to me it looked like cream cheese. In the US cottage cheese and cream cheese are way different. I want to make the buns which we would call 🍩. I'm thinking cream cheese is what I would need. Love your videos. Stay safe.
I love it, Julia. Chopped Liver is one of my favorites. I am 1/4 Ukrainian, 1/4 Romanian, and 1/2 Austrian (and 100% American :-). My grandmother made the best chopped liver. YUM! Sometimes, grandma would add chopped hard-boiled eggs to the mix. OH BOY! I am getting hungry. I saw what you were calling Cottage Cheese. Our Cottage Cheese is really just curds and weigh. I think that looks like possibly what we call Farmers Cheese, which is really just the curds. Am I right? I would love to try to make the crepes. I really enjoyed this video. Such a special vlog to have of the three of you cooking together. I know Julia, you will be glad to have this video to re-live these memories with your Gran and your sister. I’m not sure what you call the buns in Russia but we call them Kolaches in Texas. The recipe came over from the Czech immigrants who settled in Texas in the 1800’s. Since we do not have Russian type of cottage cheese our filling are mostly fruit preserve based. Kolaches are traditionally made at Christmas by the women of the family. It is so special to see three generations making them together over the holidays. We do have bakeries in parts of Texas who serve sweet and savory kolaches daily. I am loving your vlogs with your family. Thanks for sharing.
It is easy to make this type of cottage cheese from milk at home (preferably non pasteurised milk). But traditional poppy filling is good too. Or powidel one.

This video just made me smile! Your Gran reminds me of my grandma who we called Gogi , she was from Austria came to the US when she was a little girl. Her cooking and baking was amazing. Thank you for sharing the kitchen love with us. Both the berry vatruski and liver crepes/blinis looked amazing! Nothing even comes close to those here in Washington state, but I am originally from Texas where there a blend of many cultures, including Russian in central and south Texas. The closest things in that area of Texas come from a small town named West, where there is a well known Czech community with a family owned bakery that sells kolaches (fruit) like vatruski, and klobasniki (meat) in buns but not crepes. SO good! Matt looked a bit down in K'stan. Hope he gets home to you soon.
That sounds so interesting! I think yeah..Vatrushki is pretty much the same thing as Kolaches, I love them so much! Wish I could share them with you!

Julia your Grandmother reminds me of my Grandmother. My Mother and Grandmother inspired me to become a Chef. I remember making Lemon Curd when I was 4 years old and pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. Once I'd help make a Yorkshire Pudding. It Rose that will it stuck to the top oven. It was inedible. So my Grandmother made a giant pancake and laid over the mashed potatoes and hid the pancake with the gravy and some vegetables. My Grandfather didn't complain one bit. The laughs we had over that throughout the years... I can feel the love through the camera you are one close knit family. This has brightened up my day and everything looked delicious

Really enjoyed you and your grand cooking. I have been watching all you young kids (I'm a 68 year old grandmother) for a couple years. I'm from USA and for some reason people from Russia did seem normal like us. I blame the news from both countries. You could be living next door to me a would never know you are Russian. I love watching your grand, she makes things just like me.... Question you said that you used cottage cheese and to me it looked like cream cheese. In the US cottage cheese and cream cheese are way different. I want to make the buns which we would call 🍩. I'm thinking cream cheese is what I would need. Love your videos. Stay safe.

I love it, Julia. Chopped Liver is one of my favorites. I am 1/4 Ukrainian, 1/4 Romanian, and 1/2 Austrian (and 100% American :-). My grandmother made the best chopped liver. YUM! Sometimes, grandma would add chopped hard-boiled eggs to the mix. OH BOY! I am getting hungry.
I saw what you were calling Cottage Cheese. Our Cottage Cheese is really just curds and weigh. I think that looks like possibly what we call Farmers Cheese, which is really just the curds. Am I right? I would love to try to make the crepes. I just wanted to be sure to get the recipe correctly. - Marc

I really enjoyed this video. Such a special vlog to have of the three of you cooking together. I know Julia, you will be glad to have this video to re-live these memories with your Gran and your sister. I’m not sure what you call the buns in Russia but we call them Kolaches in Texas. The recipe came over from the Czech immigrants who settled in Texas in the 1800’s. Since we do not have Russian type of cottage cheese our filling are mostly fruit preserve based. Kolaches are traditionally made at Christmas by the women of the family. It is so special to see three generations making them together over the holidays. We do have bakeries in parts of Texas who serve sweet and savory kolaches daily. I am loving your vlogs with your family. Thanks for sharing.
