I lived in Kansas and Idaho during snowy cold winters but strangely when I lived there they were experiencing their warmest winters ever so, i never was bothered by the snow but rather enjoyed it. It’s so clean. Every video at random the shots in the background I watch carefully and it’s clean. No trash, no homeless, it looks calm, no conflict. It lacks the speed and hustle and bustle of the US, but it isn’t some third world country with nukes as so often portrayed.

I thought the Siberia was all forest and covered in ice so watching your videos is a breath of fresh air to seen that it is very modern mixed with the old. So I am learning a lot from your channel.
I've never seen videos of Russia with sunshine and hot days. I am amazed at the gardens with so many vegetables and fruits and flowers everywhere and lots of trees. I love the backyard vegetable gardens, I grew up with such a garden and still remember the taste of freshly picked homegrown produce 😋 Not many people on the streets, it seems quiet. That birch is beautiful! Enjoyed you sharing the area where you grew up and recalling Gran's description of community life at that time. I have visited Moscow and St. Perersburg in addition to some nearby village and observed the same type of winter preparation and Growing of vegetables and fruits. It is nice to See and know this life style from India. Thanks a lot.
Birch trees are very important in any cold wet climate, it is paper to start fires. It starts fires easier than paper when used correctly. My family lived on a small island back in my great grandfsthers day in Newfoundland, it was called Birchy Island. Great timber for wood woodworking as well.
Your grandma's a beautiful lady and your sister also ! You can learn a lot from her! It's really wonderful to learn a lot of the recipes I like that very much!

Hello from Kettle Falls, (eastern portion) Washington state in the United States. I have cold and snow here for about 5 months in the winter, but I’m only at latitude 48.6 N, about the same as Volgograd, so definitely not so cold as Siberia! Watching your videos is so fun and enjoyable. Such great and interesting adventures! I hope your Gran stays well. She is feisty, independent and so efficient (making your jams before you can get to them). She must truly be your treasure. Your auntie Olya has a sharp wit and sense of humor. You wanted pumpkins from her garden, but she says you came too late to decide if they would be planted. Ha! But such a beautiful garden! You made me curious as to what kind of special apples you made into jam. Our state is know as the best place for apple growing in our nation. By the way, Washington state has many birch trees as well!

When I visit different countries I am always grateful to learn of these traditional methods as they are fascinating to me. How nice to see the daily life of your family and hometown. I remember when you and Matt were shoveling snow off the roof of your aunt's house. What a change now! nice garden, I have a garden but only grass in my Buenos Aires home. But what I have in common is that I also have an old bathtub using it as a flowerbed, we renovated the bathrooms and removed it but it was so heavy that the easiest thing was to put it outside....I hope you keep your promise to upload recipes... .I looked for the recipe for Courgette caviar but they put sugar in it, I'll see how it turns out without that ingredient that I can't eat due to my diabetes. Most of the comments you receive are positive but there are some .... what patience you must have, I admire you! That Jeff who wants you overboard must be the cockroach that part ways with you some time ago, obviously he was resentful of something... haha byby

Julia, I know how your Auntie feels about retirement. I just partially retired (went part time) and it’s scary. I enjoy the extra time but you always worry about money. I keep my health care through work but here in the US you have to get Medicare when you turn 65 and it costs money. That’s the biggest worry for retirees I think. It’s getting used to not earning money!!!! Best of luck to your Auntie!❤️❤️❤️❤️

Oh, we always carry bunch of Russian oat flakes (Monastery brand) & buckwheat ("Mistral") every time we go to Europe. The must-haves. P. S. Last time we made a broth for my grandma, we also bought 2 chickens, so got 10 liters pot of broth. P. P. S. We also stopped planting a pumpkin lately, which is a pity. Cherish the time with your Gran because she is teaching you such valuable skills that will help you in the roughest of times! I also did the same thing with my mom, helping her with making special items and other basic meals, it was wonderful but difficult at the same time. Be patient with yourself if you make mistakes because hardly anyone gets it the first time you make a recipe 😉. Being a DOMESTIC GODDESS is a learn skill and if you have a passion for it, you will make it! 👍 good luck on your adventure! Your husband is lucky to have you!

I thought the Siberia was all forest and covered in ice so watching your videos is a breath of fresh air to seen that it is very modern mixed with the old. So I am learning a lot from your channel.
I've never seen videos of Russia with sunshine and hot days. I am amazed at the gardens with so many vegetables and fruits and flowers everywhere and lots of trees. They are everywhere and lots of sturdy growth. Don't they all just die when the winter snow and freezing cold come??😳

I love the backyard vegetable gardens, I grew up with such a garden and still remember the taste of freshly picked homegrown produce 😋 Not many people on the streets, it seems quiet. Birch trees are very important in any cold wet climate, it is paper to start fires. It starts fires easier than paper when used correctly. My family lived on a small island back in my great grandfsthers day in Newfoundland, it was called Birchy Island. Great timber for wood woodworking as well.

Hello from Kettle Falls, (eastern portion) Washington state in the United States. I have cold and snow here for about 5 months in the winter, but I’m only at latitude 48.6 N, about the same as Volgograd, so definitely not so cold as Siberia! Watching your videos is so fun and enjoyable. Such great and interesting adventures! I hope your Gran stays well. She is feisty, independent and so efficient (making your jams before you can get to them). She must truly be your treasure. Your auntie Olya has a sharp wit and sense of humor. You wanted pumpkins from her garden, but she says you came too late to decide if they would be planted. Ha! But such a beautiful garden! You made me curious as to what kind of special apples you made into jam. Our state is know as the best place for apple growing in our nation. By the way, Washington state has many birch trees as well!

How nice to see the daily life of your family and hometown. I remember when you and Matt were shoveling snow off the roof of your aunt's house. What a change now! nice garden, I have a garden but only grass in my Buenos Aires home. But what I have in common is that I also have an old bathtub using it as a flowerbed, we renovated the bathrooms and removed it but it was so heavy that the easiest thing was to put it outside....I hope you keep your promise to upload recipes... .I looked for the recipe for Courgette caviar but they put sugar in it, I'll see how it turns out without that ingredient that I can't eat due to my diabetes. Most of the comments you receive are positive but there are some .... what patience you must have, I admire you! That Jeff who wants you overboard must be the cockroach that part ways with you some time ago, obviously he was resentful of something... haha byby

Julia, I know how your Auntie feels about retirement. I just partially retired (went part time) and it’s scary. I enjoy the extra time but you always worry about money. I keep my health care through work but here in the US you have to get Medicare when you turn 65 and it costs money. That’s the biggest worry for retirees I think. It’s getting used to not earning money!!!! Best of luck to your Auntie!❤️❤️❤️❤️

Cherish the time with your Gran because she is teaching you such valuable skills that will help you in the roughest of times! I also did the same thing with my mom, helping her with making special items and other basic meals, it was wonderful but difficult at the same time. Be patient with yourself if you make mistakes because hardly anyone gets it the first time you make a recipe 😉. Being a DOMESTIC GODDESS is a learn skill and if you have a passion for it, you will make it! 👍 good luck on your adventure! Your husband is lucky to have you!
