- In this video I wanted to share with you what we eat in a day as a Russian family of three. We usually eat different meals but I decided to pick ones for this day that are considered as traditional Russian meals. These are the ones that we truly enjoy and eat on a regular basis and that our friends and relatives love too.
I hope you'll like this video and feel a little bit hungry after watching😋
Thank You!💛

What is your favorite food to eat?🥞🥘🌮🍕
Those all looked so good! I think we have something similar to the beef dish in the US but I hadn't heard of any of the other things. My question for the q&a is: how long have you and your husband been married and how did you meet? 😊
Okroshka!!
Pirozki!
pasta
I really love chicken Tikka masala
It is so refreshing to see a "What I eat in a day" with no oatmeal and avocado toast 😁 Regards from Bulgaria, Vika 👏🏻
yes it is regards from california
Where is the meat? Regards, Iowa US.
With celery jucie and a side of 30$ fresh berries
Oatmeal and avocado toast is an excellent meal. I guess that such an intelligent person like Vika has zero knowledge in nutrition. I eat pelmeni maybe twice a year. It is delicious indeed but it is very unhealthy to eat it often. If she ate meat at lunch she shouldn't eat more meat at dinner, especially processed one. It has to be something light. Also, they use a lot of oil. As a nutritionist consultant I could say that their eating habits are just horrible. They have really bad nutrition diet in Russia, majority of population is not heathy there and life expectancy is pretty short there as well.
@@user-ru1ki I have not placed this comment in order to discuss nutritional value, but variety in the content of youtubers recently. Also, she mentions several times that eating habits in Russia (and if i can add Eastern Europe) differs quite a lot from America.
Your English is exceptional.👏🏻👏🏻🇺🇸
Ill BoiseThank you so much! I've enjoyed your videos. They are informative and real! Please continue sharing with us.
?
I was thinking that too, I have been to Russia and they did not speak such good English
Ya, I was going to say the same thing! Great English!
Yes she speaks very good English!
It is very, very good.
I am Jewish and my family is from Russia- my dad always makes that first dish with the cottage cheese and eggs that he learned from his grandmother but he never knew the name! This is so cool to see a little piece of my heritage in a video. 🥰
@wetheamericanpeople1637shut up
Amazing how much regular people have in common and can relate to each other no matter where they are from in the world until our governments convince us otherwise...
I totally agree.
Yep, truth!
of course.. it shows that in nature we are all still human..
We all have the same needs, just different strategies for meeting them.
So true!! 👏👏👏
i love how your husband always seems so happy and entertained by your youtubing 😄😄😄 it's just so wholesome!
i agree so much! what man wouldn’t be happy when he has such a beautiful family
@@saltedsoup3494 cute couple
He trusts his wife entirely.
He loves her to bits.
He's a Dad too.
And loves his daughter
The love he has for you is so wonderful. You can tell he is so proud of you. I love it.
I noticed that too! What a beautiful family!
No matter where you are from, no matter when you where born your dad always "does not cook often" but he knows one or two dishes that he cooks to perfection and is very professional about :D
And then there's my dad who never cooked anything.
I cook all the meals for my family I cooked a huge Thanksgiving dinner and today I took the Turkey stock I made, the remaining turkey, onions, celery, carrots, and potatoes and a few spices and salt and pepper and made a big pot of turkey vegetable soup.
My grandpa wich I love with all my heart married a Russian woman, and she made pelmeni for us whenever I visited, and now as an adult I eat frozen premade Palmeni whenever I am sad or sick because it’s the ultimate comfort food and I remember my granddad and my lovely grandma taking care of me. It was always served with Schmand (Similar to sour cream), butter, salt and a lot of pepper. Thank you for reminding me of the little things that count ❤️
"hold fast to what is fine"! (1Thess.5 :21, the Bible)
FINALLY I found a mom who gives her daughter the same as she eats!!!!!!! Whenever any of my in-law family or friends come into my house stars with the song "our pediatrician say......". Fot data: Our girl has 15 months. Shes been eating the same as us since she was 6 m/o.
ITS OK! Your pediatrician says that no sugar until 10 y/o, just organic vegetables and blend everything and my daughter can eat a whole fully chocolate muffin without breathing.
My daughter eats everything and specially enjoys fish; she eats just what my husband and me have for lunch or dinner and shes healthier than all the babies I know, also, she has no allergies (people also has to opine about our 2 giant dogs and our 2 cats interacting with her and concern us about ñiñiñi allergy, rashes...........).
So THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!! Finally, a normal mom, growing a NORMAL girl.

as a ukrainian, i'd like to stress how awesome buckwheat is, especially if you have issues with gluten. it's also rich in iron and is just super tasty in general :D
I can’t eat American wheat or gluten. I would love to try buckwheat.
Good to know! My roommate/friend just discovered he can no longer have gluten, so I will try buckwheat. Also, I'm American but my relatives were from Ukraine.
As an Estonian I love buckwheat! ❤️ Its common ingredient in our households.
Agree with you! But brown buckwheat is much better than green one. I’ve bought green buckwheat ones and I couldn’t eat it at all🙈
@@VictoriaTerekhina i thought the green kind was one of those “health foods” that people eat specifically for weight loss, rather than it being actual food 😆
You guys are so adorable 😭 I’m a Russian immigrant in the US and when my kids take a nap I also MUST have tea with sweets 🍫 lol my husband doesn’t understand - it’s in our genes! I just found your channel and am thoroughly enjoying it 🥰
oh yes, I dated a Russian over 20 years ago, and I must have tea with sweets. I don't understand why people don't get it. And, try to get American servers to serve hot tea at the same time as dessert, lol.
I'm not Russian, but I do the same inbetween chores.
Seems very similar to English tea drinking - I would have a cup of tea with some kind of biscuit like a couple of Bourbons or Custard Creams :D
We have a few Russian grocery stores here in San Francisco. We bought a package of frozen pelmeni and made it with sour cream and a delicious mushroom gravy. I think it was the best meal we've cooked at home!
At least has some Russian areas out in the avenues. I lived on 42 Second. Thanks for the reminder.
Пельменииии❤️❤️❤️
I feel guilty having so much food in my house. Here in America, many of us are
used to excess of everything. You are so humble and interesting. Tell me more!
So impressed with your English and your videos. Very well done and interesting. Hello from America.
Speak for yourself.
Lois Kinder, I wouldn’t call it food. I am afraid you don’t know the meaning of real food or a taste of real vegetables for that matter. Crap man, the damn fruits don’t even have a smell.
@@Igorsov Actually I buy fresh organic fruits and vegetables and eat 5 FIVE a day total. I cook from scratch, do not eat beef, veal, lamb, exotic meats and do eat a little chicken and fish.
@@loiskinder6133 Organic food is better, but still not the same if you were lucky to try the real stuff. 5 times a day? 🤦♂️ Surprised you have time to cook or eat 5 times a day, you must be jobless? There is no time in the U.S. to cook these days. I hope your stomach is not a size of a yoga ball...You must be a different American because all Americans I know, eat 3 times a day just like the rest of the world. Where do I buy milk that tastes like milk? I buy HEB milk and even the Promised Land milk, but it’s still not the real milk...
I adore seeing such a realistic, humble, and friendly family. Can't wait to watch more of your videos!
Your channel is like a breath od fresh air ❤️ I love it that you are not the next minimalistic youtuber with Perfect Instagram friendly Ikea furnished all white or grey apartament. I love IT that you eat traditional and not vegan just because IT is popular. Can't wait for more videos 🙂
Thank you!🥰😍
Exactly what I was thinking...
people aren't vegan because it is in . they are vegan for 3 reasons . it tortures and then kills animals like your pets cat and dogs . it ruins the planet and it destroys your health. educate yourself. watch factory farm videos start there. sad people are so ignorant.
@@bluebee2594 why so rude? Ive been there, done that. We live in different parts of the world, different cultures and supplies, dont need to be the same.

Hello! I live in Preston county, West Virginia, US and buckwheat is a traditional crop grown here. However, it is usually ground into flour and made into pancakes! There is an annual Buckwheat Festival held in September where buckwheat pancakes are served with pork sausage patties and maple syrup, all made locally. Its delicious! Thank you for sharing your life in Russia!
That sounds delicious!
You can buy all kinds of groats, not only buckwheat, not only in a Russian shops, but also for over 100 years in every Polish shop, whether Ukrainian or Jewish one. Different types of groats are an important element of Slavic cuisine (like pasta in Italy). European Jews, who emigrated to the USA mainly from Poland, Ukraine, Belarus and Russia, took the groats from the Slavs to their cuisine (and also, for example, pickled (salty) cucumbers, many types of forest mushrooms or gingerbread). So if you want, you can buy groats in America quite easily.
Nice input , love to hear about exchange …
Okay this sounds freaking delicious and I may need to make a pilgrimage to WV now!!
Buckwheat is traditionally used for porridge in Ukraine , not wheat oats like in England , i have tried it and will eat it but prefer wheat oats porridge , just what you are used to i guess
I love this family. They make their own happiness without relying on possessions that none of us need and people waste so much time and energy striving to attain. Thank you for teaching us so much in loving life.
Who are you to dictate what other people need?
I'm vegan and my mother is from Russia, there are some Russian foods I still eat. I eat buckwheat all the time, my mom makes very good vegan borscht and I love vinegret :)
While watching a video about living in a crowded building in Hong Kong the girl said something like “a grateful heart and a positive attitude are always free” and I see that same attitude on your channel always. Thank you for sharing you life and smile with the world.
Funny how I was recommended the same video before I landed on this channel!
I LOVE Russian food! It's down-to-earth real and wholesome - no phony nonfat "cheese", nasty protein powders, or endless obsessing about calories.
I'm from Poland and I really enjoy your video :) I love PIEROGI :)))
Buziaki z Polski! 🇵🇱❤️
Yay for pierogi
We eat pierogi in USA but only because my husbands family is Polish descent. We love all pierogi, mushroom, cheese, sauerkraut and mushroom and plum.
@@littlewayslittlethingsjenn5386 mushroom and plum like together? Never heard of that! 🤔

No mushroom and sauerkraut! And plum. Separate!
I am Lithuanian, and these meals are very similar to what we eat! Its making me very hungry actually. We love our potato!
i discovered your channel and starting bing watching now. I am soooo fascinated with russia. The language, the people, the nature. Great to see real life, not this artificial instagram world.
It's good to see that everyone in the world wants the same thing a warm home time with our family I'm in South Carolina in the United States and its great to see how people in other countries live. Thanks for sharing.
Your husband looks like a Russian James Bond 😁
😂 Thank you!
He sure do! 🤔
Omg yes he does. If you saw james Bond smile all the time
You're right 👍
The cutes couple i have seen in a while. In my language we would say that they are very simpaticni ❣
Buckwheat is so underrated here in the US
I’ve known one American guy who came to Russia and when he saw buckwheat served as a lunch in our summer camp he assumed that it’s “some food for birds”😂
Buckwheat is life 😍 greetings from Poland
We eat buckwheat pancakes in the US.
Buckwheat is life, indeed. Greetings from Czechia
We LOVE kasha!
I just tried making these little “ fried cakes”. Probably weren’t as good as yours but I thought they were good. I had mine with homemade cherry jam.
My Russian mum does them and they’re delicious. She makes them wider though.
What kind of cheese did they use in the recipe? I jus cant understand what she was saying there

I loved being in Russia and meeting Russians - MANY nice people! I love my Russian friend! I can read and speak some Russian!💗 from Brazil!🇧🇷
Russian food is so good! I really miss the juice and yogurt! So much more variety in Russian and Ukraine then in the states. Blini, Borscht, Tefteli, Golobsti and of course Pelmeni were some of my favorite meals. 🤤
I love your videos! I studied in Russia a few years ago and I miss it! watching your videos makes me so happy

Was wonderful to pelmeni in your video. I’m Australian from a maternal Russian background. My grandmother and mother loved pelmeni and we eat it still - За ваше здоровье
Can I just mention how amazing the background musics are? Really good taste. All your family look so nice and living a happy life.
Your family is so cute! I am watching from New Zealand, your cooking looks so yummy and i love your videos, keep it up 😊
Awww Agatha is "Stealing" the show from you at the beginning! What a little doll, love her hair, it reminds me of my daughter's hair at that age.
It's lovely to see a child eating a very healthy meal
It's unfortunate that in UK many children get junk food which as you might know is leading to obesity.
Can I ask please are you teaching your baby both English and Russian languages?
I love RUclips for letting me connect with other normal families around the globe.
Much love from Poland
That all looks delicious. I'd love to see more food videos in the future ❤
I buy that ginger bread in USA it is fantastic! Very cool to know it is authentic
My wife is a Russian immigrant to the US along with her mother. I have learned a lot of Russian dishes. Being half Slovak I already knew numerous dishes that are very similar to their Russian versions.
I have made Sarniki many times I make my own farmers cheese when I do, because my wife and mother-in-law like it much better than any commercially available cheese I have tried.
A few days ago, I cook pelmeni by myself. I was born in russia but my parents decided to move to germany, so we live in germany but cook traditionally russian meals
That’s really cool that you cooked them yourself! Not a lot of people do that☺️
That’s impressive! Do you know what seasonings and/or spices she put in hers in this video?
My mother in law makes them herself with vegan minced meat for us. ☺️
I really need to learn how to make them.
@@erinek1449 With pelemeni you typically just use some onion, pepper salt and a bit of garlic (if you like).
This came for youtube suggestion but happy to find it :) You are such a cute happy family. I like the content :) basic simple the real life :) Greetings from Finland :)
It really looks good, but I have a correction as my wife Elena always makes pelmeni from scratch 👍
She is really from the old school 😄
Also Pirogi and borsch is made fra scratch.
She`s really good in a kitchen.
I love Russian food.
It is typically Russian to eat sweets while enjoying your tea.
My wife and daughter always do it too.
It spreads to me, as Elena always bakes blini (pancakes) which I then dip in jam for my tea.
Your minimalist approach to everything is just amazing! My question for Q/A: Well, since am also a minimalist, I've been struggling with seeing myself in big family gathering or like to be part of some events where that simplicity aspect is missing. I basically enjoy being in what I have. So do you also face some similar issues with families and other acquaintances or things have been quite soft-going for you?
Another awesome video in the life of your beautiful family. Thank you for sharing. Greetings from Quartz Hill, California.
Such a loving family, so adorable:-) I eat gingersnaps every morning!
The first recipe is very interesting and yummy! I’m going to try it tomorrow for the baby I nanny. I’m excited, I don’t think I’ve ever tried Russian recipes.
This is the cutest family ever omg

Ahh I still can't believe you're a mom! you look so young and I can feel the good vibes and positivity through the screen! love this video and love the baby
Thank you for this. What struck me was how relaxed your family life is unlike life here in the US. I raised my son in this minimalist approach to life. It really reduces stress and creates room for joy and love.
Regular person on YT exists. Thank you for that. Greetings from Poland!
Happy family! Makes me happy to see you guys.
My grandparents were Russian. My grandmother used to make a dish using leftover mashed potatoes mixed with egg and flour. She would spread this out onto a plate and used a spoon to scrape half teaspoon at a time into a pot of boiling water. When they were done they were served with melted butter and a sprinkle of salt. Good memories.
In Poland we call it "kopytka". Actually we had it for dinner yesterday, one of our favorite dishes :-)
I believe that the Italians make a potato dumpling like that called Gnochi. Love it
@@loiskinder6133 I know what you’re talking about. It sounds the same but it isn’t. It tastes different from gnocchi.

So very interesting! I have Polish heritage, but my grandfather was very proud of the fact that he could speak Russian. I had a co-worker from Latvia, and she had sour cream with just about everything! When I was in college, I went to New York City and had lunch at The Russian Tearoom. They had “borscht” on the menu and treated it like a delicacy. When it was served, I said “This is beet soup!” My grandmother made this all the time!” I never thought of it as a delicacy. 😀😀😀
