If you saw Norm regularly, followed his career, you could see something was up. Weight fluctuations, gray hair, died hair, his comedy was still Norm but there was a difference. He was a good man.
I know. In the last decade I lost two aunts, two uncles, a sister-in law, my eldest brother and my Mom. And our dog and cat of 15 and 16 years respectively. But my grandson will be thirteen this year, and my Dad will be 97 in October. It's life, and you can't stop it, but the hard times make the good times sweeter, if you let them.
Norm had his own style and sense of humor; nobody will ever be able to do what he did, like he did it. An original, authentic, hilarious, good human being.
Dave and Norm episodes on the podcast and Netflix show were amazing. It was always great seeing them together. What a rough time for comedy this past year.
Norm was a MASTER of "pushing buttons." Not everyone got his sense of humor. I did. There will never be another "Norm" like there will never be another "Rodney." Saw them both. Spade is a genius too.

I wanna see the Norm special so bad, any content from him would be gold, even unpolished. Hope we will get to see it some day. RIP you sweet prince, you funniest man who ever lived...
The reason I love Norm is that he could size up people in an instant and push their buttons from the Pope to Piscopo. It was all about the comedy, the joke and he didn't care if anyone else laughed if it was funny to Norm then in his mind it was a hit. Thats what made him a comedian's, comedian Norm wasn't "mainstream" because "mainstream" had no idea what to do with him, and I believe he liked it that way and thrived in it. He was always on, one of my favorite stories I think from Spade can't remember who it was. They were supposed to meet up in a bar and Norm never showed. Three days later Norm texts David asking him where he's at, because he's at the bar waiting for him. Life to Norm seemed to be a big Netflix special that never ended, and we loved him for it. There will never be another Norm Mcdonald and I can live with that.
He performed for a small audience at the sierra Nevada brewery in chica CA in 07 or 08, Im very happy I got to see him in person. I just wish I would have brought my copy of dirty work to get signed lol
I do like how Spade is always very honest, probably the most honest of any comedian. Doesn’t try to hide his true feelings. It seems like Norm was a complicated friend whom you love because he’s brilliant. I do think those Spade is gay jokes got repeated to him enough times over decades that he found it annoying.
I thought David had the best "Funny Roast" of Norm on a show he was doing a while back. I forget who was all there. But Norm was being his usual self and just blowing up everything Spade was trying to do during his monologue. It was hilarious. But Dave reached back and asked a direct question to the audience. Ok I'm not quoting him. But it was something like this. Hey got a question. What does a pool table, a camel, a proctologist, and a dead hooker all have in common? They are all a set up for Norms next joke. It got Norm so good he was laughing his arse off.
Felt like out of those on the panel at the end of his special David seemed to look like the one most impacted by his passing. Had the same look on his face like when people talk about Farley
I loved it. But before I watched it though Bob Sagets podcast in memory of norm video popped up on my RUclips recommendations. I'd already seen it but I watched it again. Listening to Bob talking about norm was heavy. I can only imagine how that felt for norms loved ones. It was a really good "not special". It was also so heavy.
