I love the fact that Norm seems to genuinely love it when a joke fails. It's like he's deeply thrilled and happy to see the audience not enjoying it.
I always felt he had a little Andy Kaufman in him.
I think he's always telling jokes that he wants to tell. That make him chuckle and not just conforming to what other people think is funny. The audience almost doesn't matter - but of course he loves having an audience for them not to matter to him. A funny zen kind of thing! He was great.
I felt like he liked telling jokes that were his; and if they didn't work, he knew they weren't for everyone. He just said Oh well and kept going - it never bothered him because he just loved being himself.
One of a kind comic.
Always enjoy your bombs
Norm's entire life was one gigantic trolling session. And I love him for it.
yep... he's amazing.
He’s great. But high as a kite this time
He stumped Conan 😂
Other comedians have said he was a genius "like rain man" lol. Not even 2 minutes in he's having fun trolling his friend (who's a Harvard grad) about his assistant, making Conan look like a privileged diva for a laugh "yeah, I told you, what's her last name? *evil smirk*". Norm always being the smartest person in the room pretending to be the dumbest.
So true. He was a math prodigy. Went to college (University in 🇨🇦) at 16 years of age.

My favorite thing Conan or his people did for Norm after he passed, was that they dug through all the old tapes and found all these great nuggets from his appearances. It shows how much Conan loved Norm. Conan has always been the best at letting comedians run with their jokes and bits.
Conan is the wittiest comedian of them all...and he seems to be unusually well-adjusted, and not full of himself at all. He was a great talk-show host, very adept at playing the passive-aggressive "straight man" to his comedic guests.
Yes, because it was hugely bad for views and was a massive self sacrifice for Conan and his people. I respect them all for that. Good people.

Norm was incredible. His delivery. The deadpan. The self-deprecation. The "I just told a hilarious story and no one laughed and I"m here for it." attitude. All of it. All-time great comedic mind.

ruclips.net/video/NfthEzdSCWQ/видео.html
Him purposely bombing his roast of Bob Saget is one of my favorite moments of him.
That's why I love Norm. He did comedy to amuse himself. Us laughing is inconsequential.
He had Elephant-man sized balls
Particularly when he hosted that stupid "ESPY" Award show...his very barbed humor occasionally did not land well on the ears of all those bone-headed jocks, and their trophy wives!...I was worried that a few of those macho types would attack him on stage!..But he survived, and even made those jocks laugh pretty hard...He was so courageous...even as he slid down the slippery slope of Death...we should all be so strong and accepting of our fate!
8:50 Norm coining Rizz, true pioneer
Absolutely insane that right after this was Courtney Thorne Smith’s interview. That audience got to see some peak Norm
The thing I like most about Norm's comedy is that he tells jokes
That’s hilarious! A perfect tribute to Norm!
I guess we're gonna have to agree to disagree.
I always wondered how he came up with his stuff?
Explain to the people at home what 'Jokes' are.
Where does he get his ideas?
I respect Conan greatly.
His boss who gave him the job told him “No more Norm on the show” and Conan wrote him a letter saying the show wouldn’t be the same without him and kept booking him.

I've given up trying to re-tell Norm jokes. I now just look up Norm telling them.
The genius of Norm was he could go from having no material or bombing to coming up with absolutely hilarious stuff on the spur of the moment, seemingly without trying.
And he was 🔥 and didn't seem to know it. I would have made him a nice chicken pot pie too. With a delicious dessert.
He was a smoking hot chunk of coal, and I ain’t gay! I’m deeply closeted!
Norm mastered bombing.

We’re all mourning this profound loss, but you know who else is grieving?
You guessed it, Frank Stallone

That story of Tonya Addy just proves he talked to everyone and remembers everyone 😢. Listen to the podcast and heard Andy say Norm talked to his sister for an hour.
He really was an incredible human being. Though this is norm we’re talking about so it’s very possible that Tonya Addy is made up and not a real person. I almost hope she was made up because it would be such a norm thing to do.

Conan is brilliant on his own, and it’s clear, through the years the reverence he has for Norm. Norm could make the funniest people genuinely laugh out loud. Still sad he’s gone, just brilliant.
Conan was the most charmingly humorous TV host of them all!...and Norm was the most original, incredibly funny stand-up comedian of them all!...I love them both.
This is an early interaction of theirs, and you can tell Conan is working harder back then in some of the more recent clips. Their interplay is genius - one of the funniest things on television, but it took a lot of work before they could make it look easy. Conan is exhausted by the end of this clip!
He sets him up very well, probably the best of anyone. Then amplifies the humor by amplifying the responses.
It’s good to see how people can finally appreciate how genius they both were and to have them together like this

After watching Conan for decades, it's clear that his visits with Norm were truly special. In this video, Conan laughs in ways and makes faces that i've never seen anyone else elicit.
