    Hello everyone my name is Jordan and I am a musician/teacher who is passionate about personal growth, self improvement, and motivation. In this video I demonstrate and show you how I set goals and practice piano for maximum growth. Practicing piano is relatively subjective so my way isn't the right way its simply the best for me. If you learned anything please leave a comment and let me know. If you have any practice tips or goals put them in the comments to share with others!
    I believe all good practice/learning in any field comes from diligent and focused planning and writing down our goals. If we write down our goals we are more likely to follow through because we have made a commitment to ourselves and have set a plan into action.
    It's also good to limit resistance and make our goals attainable and as practical as possible. Make sure you're practicing in a clean, tidy, and efficient environment. Also et lots of sleep, eat healthy, and drink as much water as possible. All these will lead to greater willpower and focus throughout the day as well as greater retainment of knowledge.
    In the video I show I how schedule/plan my practice as well as how i execute it and some techniques that I use to ensure I am challenging myself and meeting goals.

      Yes I definitely agree. For myself I’ve been getting into minimalism over the last year and that’s just been me trying to be way more intentional with my time/principals/and possessions and I’m sure I will become more and more over the years. Are you a minimalist?

      tanks for checking it out sharyn! planning is definitely key. in just a few intentional moments you can set your whole day/week up for success but it definitely takes discipline.

    This is perfect because I always want to get better at piano but feel I never have time to practice like I used to

      if you were to find 30 minutes a day for 5 days a week, over time you would see big results. what are your goals/what do you enjoy playing? I've helped a number of adult students who don't have a lot to practice improve over time

    This is a great video! You make me want to revisit taking piano lessons uggghhhhhhhhhhh. I play organ for church but honestly... one of my pipe dreams has always been to be able to play classical piano music..... ugggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh AHAHAHAHAHAHA [inner turmoil as to whether i can fit another thing into my schedule lol]

    • @JordanEvansMusic

      set a goal to just play for 15-30 minutes a day and THAT IS IT. Make a super attainable goal and over time you can reevaluate it. But in just 15 minutes 6 days a week you would start to see massive increases. Consistency is the most important. What is your piano skill level I can offer some suggestions

    I really like this video as I’m trying to come up with my practice routine. Actually not the routine itself but different approaches (e.g. practising until something is 5 times perfect, then incorporating a previous measure to it). Do you memorise all your pieces?

    • @JordanEvansMusic
      @JordanEvansMusic  3 года назад +1

      Yes I memorize everything! I played Suzuki violin growing up and my teacher made me play everything from memory and so I just always have and its something I make my students do as well. I will sight read very occasional or play with sheet music but I find I enjoy it much better when its memorized. Thanks for watching!

    • @PianoforPleasure
      @PianoforPleasure 3 года назад +1

      @@JordanEvansMusic great thank you for responding! My teacher made me memorise everything too. But now that I play for myself, I became a bit slack.. I’ll try memorising some pieces too. Definitely adds to the musicality part!

    • @JordanEvansMusic
      @JordanEvansMusic  3 года назад +1

      Yes but I admit I’d like to get better at sight read so I could have a broader range of repertoire and be able to perform more. I’ve only been playing piano for like 6 year most of my experience is in percussion/drums. So I’d love to get more confident being able to play a piece just looking at music and not having to memorize soon

    • @PianoforPleasure
      @PianoforPleasure 3 года назад +1

      @@JordanEvansMusic yes that’s one of my long term goals - to be able to play advanced arrangements off the score. Didn’t know you’ve only been playing for six years, just shows how much can be achieved with effective learning techniques!

    • @JordanEvansMusic
      @JordanEvansMusic  3 года назад

      @@PianoforPleasure yes most of my experience is with violin and drum set but around 18 I started writing my own music and realized the importance of piano and once I start playing piano that’s all I wanted to play! Thankfully I have a very strong theory understand and could read music so I was able to advance fairly quickly. Thanks for the kind words though! I hope to be playing for the next 30-40 years :)
