one of my favorite parts of this podcast is when you can tell they SO DESPERATELY want to respect women, yet the women is in the wrong. A true battle between the heart and the mind.
I think I ultimately fall on the side of OP for the 2nd post. Where they went wrong is not interrogating further when they suspected their daughter lied. That implies they didn't care enough to double check. But the other parent upon hearing her daughter wasn't invited decided that instead of just calling OP to show up unannounced and impose herself onto the party. They clearly went there with the intention of disrupting the proceedings and while that's a funny cumuppence in a sitcom it's really weird in real life. And obviously when they didnt get their way other mom decided to go scortched earth calling OP and evil bitch and trying to get the school involed. If someone just suddenly showed up at a party and made my child uncomfortable I'd probably also kick them out. Like I feel bad for Camella it reads to me like she's just awkward maybe doesn't have many friends and so lauched onto OP's daughter cause they're pre-teens they're not done cooking yet. OP definitely needs to have a deeper conversation with her daughter about her relationship with Camella but I can't call her an asshole for what happened in the moment especially with how abrasive the other mom was
i was thinking the whole time through the second one that it was a no-win situation. either the kid gets bullied through exclusion or bullied at the party
When I was younger I went to this private middle school, my parents aren’t rich or anything like that, so they worked really hard for me to be in it. And I was that “weird kid” that was left out of events (yes, I am talking 19 out of 20 type) and I gotta tell you it sucked. And it took years and therapy to deal with that, because it felt unfair and frustrating, just because I didn’t like the same things as others my age or didn’t have access to the same cool new things. Worst part, is that years later, I’ve come across some of my old classmates and some still don’t fully understand how what they were doing deeply hurt me, and mostly played it off as a joke. I sincerely hope this girl doesn’t turn out like that too.
I think one thing that should have been mentioned for the first guy (I'm only 24:20 in atm) is that he could have some kind of illness or condition. It's not that he's not taking his meds, it's that he has no meds as he hasn't been diagnosed and has suddenly developed something TO trigger these thoughts. I'd suggest taking him to a Doctor first before completely writing him off.
The racism and anti-social (going with loud music on the car to disrupt social gatherings, or at least veteran gatherings) stuff too? That doesn't sound like the kind of stuff that is just because of mental issues...as in, if anything, he was keeping that hidden inside already, before the brakes stopped working and the paranoia settled in.
@@KuroeNezumi no offense but this type of thinking is what leads to people with psychotic disorders being ostracized and left to get worse. yes, schizophrenia can make you racist and belligerent, either or both or neither. the point of being delusional is that you start believing in things that you did not before
For the last post, I can only try to guess anxiety (like the doctor suggested) or some kind of phobia of pain. Either way therapy is likely the best solution, I hope that things get better for her. From personal experience deep-rooted disabling mental issues need professional treatment and the will to work on it. A therapist with a extensive experience in treating your condition matters a lot. Being ready to face and work on your trama/condition matters a lot.
Regarding the second case, the guys seem to be in a perception that 20 is all the 8th graders, but it seems more likely to me that 20 is the number of people in the homeroom - at 13 there's a decent chance they haven't moved on to the high school system of different teachers for every subject. That doesn't make it any better, it arguably makes it worse - but I think a lot was riding on that for Danny.
There are tons of schools were 20 for the whole class makes sense. Class size varies wildly depending on where the school is, whether it's public/private, and a host of other things. This is pretty normal.
I feel like the second story is a case of two parents who needed to actually parent their kids more. The OP clearly sussed out her daughter was excluding something based on the comments she made about “is it only 19” and should have pressed her daughter to explain a bit more why she excluded this one kid. And depending on what she said, she could either talk to her daughter about not excluding only one kid just because you think she’s weird, or talking to Camilla’s mom and telling her “your daughter makes mine uncomfortable and here’s why”. And Camilla’s mom went into a no win scenario for Camilla, making so instead of Camilla just not knowing about the party and being spared (for now) the knowledge of being excluded she’s directly confronted with it either through exclusion or at the party. Then when asked, instead of being calm and talking with OP, she dialed up to 11 way too hard. This should have been solved by the parents just talking it over with the kids, not with Reddit.
Ok my sniff is the mom is the one who wanted to be the cool mom and invite everyone, and it wasn't the daughters idea to literally invite every single person but one. It was moms idea to invite everyone and she was pushing it and the daughter went "ok but i REALLY can't be around this one"
hoooooly shit. that second post because like the mom of the excluded girl learns that her daughter is the ***only*** child that didnt get an invite, the wise thing to do there, is to then call the mom of the girl who's birthday it is to figure something out BEFORE THE PARTY. but the mom of the birthday girl also like clearly figures out that she's excluding somebody because children are shitty liars but then is like "ah c'est la vie" and books 19 seats anyways. feels like it would be extremely easy to figure out how many kids are in her class if she actually cared
That second story idk, i can geta big WHIFF of "poster is white suburban mom who thinks her daughter would never lie to her or is always in the right and doesnt care she actually literally lied to me right now" And other mom is "im overprotective of my weird saughter and i NEED to make sure shes always included"
I say this as someone who was excluded from things as a kid, telling your child they need to have a small party because they don't want to include one person is just going to make them tell everyone, "I would've invited everyone to my trampoline house sleepover but my mom said if I invited everyone I had to invite Kamilla." The child should be punished for lying but cancelling the party would've led to the kids blaming Kamilla for it. Kamilla was cooked no matter how this party went down. At that point, it's unreasonable to punish kids for not liking someone.
about the red hair thing it may have started from being conflated with red heads often needing more anesthesia which is something I've heard from doctors and from first hand experience because I often need more than what I've been given
The guy in the first story has all the hall marks of schizophrenia. Now the woman should still leave. You have no obligation to risk your own or your child's safety because somebody else has legit mental health issues but this is most likely not some guy just being a bad person.
Hydrogen peroxide isn't recommended for wounds because it can dry out the wound and make it worse. You should still disinfect the wound, but you can do that with other cleaners.
I'm sorry but if you move FIFTEEN TIMES over 2 YEARS because your partner just completely hates everyone around them, INCLUDING YOU, and causes catastrophic problems wherever they go, and haven't left by then, what the fuck are you, a grown adult, doing?
A class with 20 kids is really small????? I was really confused by what Danny was talking about regarding class size because where I come from its not allowed in public schools to have more than 24 kids in a class. And teachers are still complaining that 20 kids in a class is way to much. Also having 50 kids is seen as something that was normal 60 years ago but we luckily don't have anymore. For me it always was something in the same realm as lead in paint or something similar.
About the third story: I wonder what might break her, if the pain of being kicked in the nuts or the pain of childbirth. That's a question for everyone, and the answers might be mixed.
Wait people are actually getting the AI results on google? I thought that was just some beta thing only a small number of people had access to, that makes it so much worse
huh, actually have a minor disagreement with this one. there was a little bit where they said "'the daughter says 19 people and I kind of remembered 20 people but maybe I'm wrong', why wouldn't you to check." ??? if you don't have a prior reason to distrust your daughter, I feel like you just trust your daughter here, no? maybe you were remembering that it was a class of 19 + your daughter. why would you jump to the conclusion that you have to go check? she's in this class every day, if one of you two would know, it's her. you can't just immediately question everything they say.
NO that second story op is not the asshole. this is a fucking slumber party and shes uncomfortable with another child. you can not reasonably tell a child they have to sleep in the same room as someone who makes her uncomfortable. and also even if they do invite thefinal child then that child will have a living hell of a party she will be actively excluded during every single event and its gonna be even worse
You are ignoring that her kid lied about it and that if it really was a serious issue it should have been addressed as such. You can decide to not invite everybody in your class but to not invite one specific person and to lie to get it that way suggests you both know what you are doing and know its bad.
@jajordan2106 or she thought her mom would blow her off and invalidate her feelings and invite the kid anyways. And given how many people think she's bullying the other child I'm inclined to believe the kid was right to lie
@@dlord96301 This assumes she couldn't have just mentioned the issue earlier and had a party with a more select group so the exclusion of one specific person wasn't such an obvious slight. Even if the other person is legit in the wrong that doesn't justify every action from your end and that is in fact a way bullies think.
So I was doing a lot of thinking about the 2nd story and this is based solely on the words of Carmila's mom saying "Carmila is her best friend" that to me says this scenario would've happened if only half the class was invited. The second mom seemed to have an agenda and a narrative she was pushing.
So maybe it wasn't my internet being crappy. Yeah, sounded like there were a few "hiccups" in this episode. As if there were sudden cuts when he spoke.
Okay do not get me wrong, this guy sounds horrible, the women NEEDS to get away. But can we stop pretending this is a problem for ONLY women? I’ve gotten into a few relationships that as years pass, my partner ended up being incredibly toxic. Thankfully I never had a kid with them, but you as a working women, with a steady job, WILL GET YOUR KID, so just leave. It’s not just a women issue, it’s a person issue.
