Soft Tip Suction Probe Used to Extract Dead Skin From Ears (Clearway Suction Tool)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 16 окт 2024
- In this video we trial a new microsuction tool called the Clearway Suction Handle (we requested a free sample from DTR Medical which they provided). The soft tip allows the suction probe to deform and latch onto the surface of uneven objects, such as foreign bodies and plugs of dead skin and wax.

Your videos are so much brighter and I can see so much better what’s going on than any other wax videos I’ve seen before. Nice job
Thankyou Drinda

I've always wondered about this kind of wax/skin! Thanks for showing us your new gadget - It really lifted it just like suction tube on regular wax. I like that it's soft plastic too - Adds that degree of safety to it too. I hope your day is going well, Conor 😊
Glad you enjoyed it! Have a good evening
Fantastic, Another New Tool, Fascinating!! Thank You Connor!
Great job
Why aren’t they plastic instead of metal?
I think it's fascinating there's so many choices! The new tool being silicone based is a great alternative for someone with a latex allergy (like myself) plus one can use olive oil not just almond oil if again they have a severe anaphylaxitic reaction to nuts (again me!). You make the world of audiology so intriguing :) great content as per usual! Xxxx
Thanks Ethereal!

Love watching as you introduce new tools to help your patients with.
This looks like a winner.
Hopefully the company will take your suggestion and make them smaller.
Thankyou Pat, they've emailed me saying they'll take a look, fingers crossed
There are times when I wish I could show patients the "dome-shaped" depression. It seems like it might make more sense to them why it is problematic to use Q-tips/ cotton buds
Can the q-tips can cause a depression on the ear drum after using them for years? That sounds pretty troublesome, especially for those in their later years of life. I had no idea that something like that could happen by using qtips. I knew the dangers of a damaged eardrum.
⁰hi.
@@ladyfalcon4208 The Q-tip is almost certainly not coming up against your ear drum... believe me, you'd know! I have definitely seen patients who used Q-tips enough that the entire length of the ear canal was full of wax, and they ended up pushing the wax through the ear drum. I've also had patients perforate their ear drum with the Q-tip. Not pretty...
I always tell my patients that the only thing they should ever put in their ear is their elbow (it is so much fun to watch a six-year-old try to put their elbow in their ear!)
@@KayoEll I perforated my eardrum with a Q-tip as kid, and it was quite painful.
Some Audiologist can show what's inside the ears to their patients. I think they use a different instrument with a camera. A video camera? I watched it from another Audiologist from Wales. Try it.
This is one of my favourite videos that you have posted and it's very educational
Glad to hear it thankyou Cindy
That clearway suction tool is amazing. Itll save you loads of faffing around with other tools. No doubt others will follow suit and use it too. Well done. Interesting and fab video. Thankyou

Sir, you are a born teacher. Well done.
It's wonderful to see you experimenting with new tools for your arsenal in tha war against wax and other debris. True scientific curiosity, always looking for something better.
I am very impressed by the ClearWay!
Why is this so weirdly soothing to watch and listen to.
Absolute boulders today Connor!! I'm sure the patient felt great relief! I love the different styles of you, Rhys and Dr Zhao. I call you the three musketeers. Would love to see you all in an audiology road show. Epic!
The three musketeers I like it!
Awww what about Mr. Neel?

Hear ye. Hear ye...I have decided to publicly announce that I have hence forth determined that Conor from Durham Hearing Assoc. Is from this day forward my absolute favorite RUclips ear wax remover. Whilst I shall still tune in and share videos from the others, my loyalty shall remain with Conor. So it is written.
PS....I love your hair Conor ❤🥰
Woohoo Thanks Cassie!
But I love Rhys equally.
@@arlenemorzinsky2639Rjyd definitely on my top 5. His enthusiasm is so much fun. I find myself watching him and missing what's going on in the ear. 😂😂😂🤣
I was so pleased to hear you say that you do teach students! I truly enjoy listening to you explain what is happening on your videos. I have no idea what the magnification you use in filming, but when you show the actual size of the instruments they are really small! Your job must be so very interesting and fulfilling!
Thanks for your kind words and support Joanne!

I joined this channel a few months ago just to watch the relief of ear wax removal but it’s actually become fascinating and very interesting. Good video thank you for sharing ♥️👍
Thankyou Rosie
That tool seems like it would be super useful in a lot of the difficult extractions I have seen! What a good idea! I hope they listen to your advice and make them smaller. I imagine there is no way this would fit in a narrow or collapsed ear canal! Also, "faffing around" is my new favorite saying.
I Love a Lot of His little sayings, they Crack me Up! He Also has a Great Sense of Humour, anyway.
This man really explained exactly what “stick/stuck” means
Yes he did! Lol
Q!
That's a very handy looking tool that I am surprised wasn't thought up ages ago. And of course, it uses the old-school vacuum cleaner principal, the more air is cut off the stronger the suction will be. I hope you didn't pay too much!
Interesting video and extraction! I love that you are experimenting with some new tools and allowing us to watch, it’s exciting. Thank you!
That device is seriously cool!! It looks like it would be more comfortable than the steel probe. And the section that it creates appears to be better than the metal probe in some cases. Thank you for sharing that that was very cool!!
That was so interesting. Glad there are new gadgets to help with wax removal. Excellent explanation of how it works. I hope they will make a smaller one for ear canals. Fingers crossed!
Thanks Danni
You are so good at comming up with innovative solutions to complex problems.
Thanks Nicole
Connor, did You Study Engineering at all?
This is so fascinating. My husband suffers from hearing loss due to premature birth. One ear has been treated with a reconstructive surgery when he was a 13. His hearing improved but not greatly. He has a perforation in both ear drums and about 30% hearing in one ear and about 50% in the other. Seeing the doctors clear out his ear and wow...big hard clumps of wax and skin. He has little to no hairs in his ears...so it gets all plugged up.About 10 years ago he had a BAHA implanted ( BAHA= Bone anchored hearing aid) and it has changed his life...and mine to for that matter. I love your channel and I have learned so much about the ear and the why it builds up what it does.
Glad to hear the BAHA worked for him!
@@DurhamHearingSpecialists it has been a game changer or him honestly
I'm just a lay-person, passing through on a RUclips watching "joyride" but you, Connor, are eminently watchable and have a wonderful way of describing that is happening in your videos! Brilliant! Keep up the good work!
What a pleasant fellow, who also explains things so very well.
You have a lovely, strong suction. It prevents skin scratches from the ear canal. It can remove a bigger plug from the ear canal without causing trauma. You have a soothing voice while explaining your work. I can hear Hugh Grant talking if I close my eyes listening to you. You are very gentle with your patients. Take care and good luck.
I love your videos! I think that when you were talking about the suction on the eardrum, a good analogy would be like a plunger 🪠 effect. Thanks again for your videos.
Plunger effect! That's a good analogy, thankyou
Hi Kevin, Great to See You on here. This tool got me excited, if it Will Make things Easier for Audiologists. Connor used words of caution, concerning it. Maybe on/around the eardrum. I Hope You're Coping OK, and that Everything's Good, With You and Family. Take Care.

Brilliant piece of kit! I'm sure we'll see it again.
The Clearway Suction tool is a game changer. It worked very well. Maybe if they made it a little slimmer it would work better for removing wax/skin from the ear canal, but I think it is brilliant.

@@DurhamHearingSpecialists The time of day doesn't matter, just so I get to enjoy your videos. My older son had tubes at 9 months and my younger son at 15 months. My older son's tubes stayed in 5 years. I spent years lying them on the kitchen counter and washing their hair at the sink. The ENT doctor recommended using Silly Putty in their ears to keep out the water. All the doctors in the practice tested it. This was in the late 70s and early 80s. Love your videos and learn so much.

What a good idea, to use it in this way, will you continue to use it as it is, or maybe adept it slightly ? Another question for you, could you explain about "Musical ear syndrome" ? And how you would best treat it. Or would hearing aids be all that you could do, to try and improve things. Thanks
I think until they come out with a smaller version it's going to be on the side line except in rare cases, it's pretty massive in an average ear. Sure I'll script a video on musical tinnitus.

Very neat tool. Do you think it would have worked as easily if you hadn't used the steel suction to unstick the edges of the plug from the ear canal?
I think it would have been more uncomfortable for the patient, probably would have pulled out the same

Not really ear related, but does Connor remind anyone else of a Time Lord? I keep thinking he should be the next Doctor. Sorry, just had to say it. :-)
This looks like a good tool. I have often wondered why silicone is not used more in ear tools. Seems like it would provide a cushion for tools like the ST Barts hook.
Seems like a Good Idea, but the Audiologist might lose something in the Tactile 'feel,' of the tool used.
Could be used in other tools though.
