The bag system is really good. I use a system I was from another YT. She uses photo boxes with index cards as a file system. It works really well for me.
I found it so interesting watching you kit up the mad kitty. I always kit up using the DMC code in numerical order. It never occurred to me to do it by symbols. I'm going try it on my next one.
I'm glad to see I am not the only one that likes to kit in symbol order. I think I take it a step further. I even have to put keyboard symbols in order. Such as money symbols, punctuation symbols, mathematical, etc.
OMG - i love your kitting up method! i've been trying to figure that out for myself (new at diamond painting - just completed my 4th project) - arranging by symbols makes perfect sense to me! thank you for the video :)
Great to see how you kit up and down. I’m getting really annoyed with dmc codes. It seems every company has a different shade. I have multiple colours of one dmc code!
Rearranging the order of the drills in the case was a complete game changer and SUCH a time saver. Thank you so much for the idea. I was keeping them in number order.
The kitting up is so much fun for me! I need to come up with some sort of organization for the kitting down part though. Thank you for showing how you do it! Love your videos!
My first time watching your videos. I’ve just subscribed. Looking forward to seeing more. I find Diamond Art just so relaxing to me. I listen to an audio book while working. I even find kitting up and down projects relaxing. Lol. I just don’t know what to do with all those left overs! I can’t seem to throw them away.
Save them for another project. You can make your own paintings too. Supplies are at different craft stores. They have blank sticky "pattern paper" that you can use to make your own. And you can use cross-stitch patterns to make one.
I just brought two different types of bead storage from Joann and kited up found love in a frosty place and it’s coming along faster im almost done with the top part
Hi Rachel - quick question: why don’t you consolidate the drills with past left overs? Especially if you know that they are from the same company, would that not work?
I just received yesterday the complete DMC in round AND square..Think I am as addicted to the colors and diamonds as I am to the Paintings..as a project I will place them all in neat storage.. I Love kitting😂🤦♀️💜💎💜
I'm doing well Rachel. I enjoy your telecasts. I have learned so much from your telecasts. I have just finished my first 40X40 canvas. I don't see a clear book for that size canvas. How would I store this canvas? Thank you so much. Barbara Roberts
Good morning! I'm new to watching your videos and I want to thank you for the wealth of DP knowledge/tips/tricks you provide. I'm interested in putting together a binder such as yours and was wondering where you purchase the 3- ringed binder sheets that have the pockets on them for leftover drill storage.
Hi Rachel thanks for showing your method just purchased a binder with sleeves similar to yours so will start my kit down process. Just ordered my first two DAC paintings Trapped siren and tin solder so excited also got mad kitty on email alert can't wait for them to arrive. Xx
if you ever come across a label or anything sticky really that just will not come off, there is a product called undo that will take it right off, it's on amazon so it should be easy to find
I haven't purchased the full dmc of drills yet but it certainly is On my wish list if I get the funds. Enjoyed seeing how you kit up and down. Almost done with White Tiger in the Dusk. It's the first painting in which I substituted some ABs of similar color to highlight the eyes and some areas of fur. I'm excited and pleased I tried that. Thank you for sharing.
I just used the labels that came with my storage and then write on them with pencil so that I can erase it. If you don't like the gray of the pencil lead, you can get 4B lead pencil/mechanical pencil refills so that it's dark while still being erasable. You can also use removable labels on Amazon, a sharpie then just scrub it off (just be careful not to scratch up the case) or a wet erase marker. Just make sure it's wet erase because if it's dry erase, it,lo fade and wipe off with time. Wet erase markers only erase if it get wet so just wipe it off with a damp marker and you're good to go! You can find those on Amazon or stationery shops like jetpens.com.
I get most of my diamond paintings from diamond art club and the dmc codes are the same with every one of their paintings. the symbols change but the color dmc code does not change. I keep the extras in the Elizabeth Ward container system and just refill with the new kits as needed. any extras on top of that I use these hardware/craft cabinets that I bought off of Amazon.
I have done 4 paintings so far. I have extra from all of the them. one is a diamond dotz and the other three are cupmod. Do all companies use similar numbers or would I have to organize my extras by company.
Hi, How do u know how to put the drills in DMC order? I have lots of drill and I have no way of putting them in order. I have looked for a dmc chart. Any ideas on how to find one? Good luck on your kitty.
They go in numerical order and you can get charts from DMC directly or on Amazon, at craft shops, or from small businesses that make diamond painting charts :)
I got the 445 colors, when I thought I was getting drills and a dmc chart. But all i got was the drills.which is ok. But I am having a hard time trying how to set them up. Do u have any ideas?
Did you label each page of the binder per number like for example wrote on the top of the page that the page is for all 600s ? Or did you write each individual number on each slot for the colours?
You separated your spare drills by company. Is there a reason for that? Is there that big of a difference in quality between company? I have been combining them all but wonder if I should stop. Also, I have noticed that one kit I have purchased said it was 5D drills but there was a combo of 3D and 5D. Is that normal? Very new to diamond painting.
The dye lots can be different even within the same company. That's why I keep them separate. 3D and 5D are just gimmicky words to describe the diamonds.... When I first started I thought they meant the shape, and then the facet, but no, it's just a way to make it sound special :P
Hey there! You may have been asked this before but I was just wondering do you put rounds and squares in the same binder or do you have a binder for rounds and a binder for squares? Thanks for the video!
We have a very similar method! Would you mind showing us the wheel tool you talked about in one of you videos? Even if it’s just a short bit in a wip and chat, that sounds like an intriguing accessory lol! Thanks Rachel, take care!
Loved the video. I am new to DP and loving it. Fished one small painting and want to try another bigger painting. I want to do a family portrait. I have made the pattern from pixel-stitch. Used the 10 stitch setting. Picture is going to be very big. My question is where to buy all the needed dmc drills? And do you think square over round for full canvas coverage be better? I look forward to yours and others replies.
Thank for sharing Rachel!! I just got my Elizabeth Ward tray and I'm so excited to use it!! Also, you mentioned you use Sharpie on the containers. Does it come off easily? How do you get it off after a project?
What if u have left over one from other diamond art painting would u put same colours together or leave them separate. How do u know which beads are for which diamond art with ur bunder folder
I store mine by dmc code and keep them in the boxes. It is easy to grab the existing boxes and add new drills to the container as needed. At what point do we throw them out? Lol
I use the same binder system and had not seen anyone else doing it, I thought it was just me being weird, my husband said “why keep them if that picture is done?” I pointed out they sometimes come short, or if I accidentally drop a tray, or if my friends or family need a particular one because they’re short... he just laughed and said “food, you’re ALL short” cheeky monkey. I have set off several friends and family with DP, they’re getting addicted too. We even planned some “dates” where we can have a cuppa or glass 🤪😜 and sit working on our latest wip’s as we have a catch up. Sadly 2020 put the plans on hold, but we will be doing this once it’s safe. So I’m so relieved to see another person doing this, and it seems great minds think alike... because although our binders are different, we use the exact same system.

its always interesting top see how you kit up and down. Like the fact that you organize by symbol would drive me crazy xD. Yet how I organize it by the order of DMC code would drive you crazy lol. Everyone has their own way and thats pretty cool.
DMC number order doesn't drive me crazy :) I used to kit up in numerical order all the time, but then I realized I could speed it up (in my mind) because I'm more of a visual person and I just look at what symbol I want to do next and find it in the symbol order....does that make sense? LOL not sure. But yeah, it's cool to find something that works for you!
@@RachelRaeCraft that does make sense. For me Im a numerical person. I mean yes I look at what symbol I want to do next but for me organizing them by symbol would be hard. Tho it does make sense for how you do it.
Hiya! Just to let you know, I've read and compiled a video answering your and other questions in a video that will upload tomorrow! Thank you for asking. -RR
I was looking for a craft my G’kids can do. After watching you on YT, I thought this might work. For ease and speed, I hopped on amazon and ordered 4 different kits. Some of The cement went through the metal tip and I can see it up in there how do i get it out. And are the colors the same for all kits like say 380 for this one be the same as a 380 for another on
You can remove the metal tip if you want to remove the wax that pushes up but it won't hurt anything. Not all paintings have the same number codes or dye lots so you might want to be careful xx
Where can I get the binder that looks really good
Walmart. Just check out their zippered ones. The pages are baseball card holders.
The bag system is really good. I use a system I was from another YT. She uses photo boxes with index cards as a file system. It works really well for me.
I'm in the process of kitting up my first diamond art club painting! I so EXCITED right now!
I found it so interesting watching you kit up the mad kitty. I always kit up using the DMC code in numerical order. It never occurred to me to do it by symbols. I'm going try it on my next one.
I used to only kit up in numberical order but I tend to think visually so it's faster for me if I kit up by symbol.
I'm new, just got my first kit, and I feel overwhelmed by all the stuff that's out there. You made me feel a lot better.
I'm just starting DP and I love the idea of having small sections of cover paper. Can you use parchment paper?
Yes
I'm glad to see I am not the only one that likes to kit in symbol order. I think I take it a step further. I even have to put keyboard symbols in order. Such as money symbols, punctuation symbols, mathematical, etc.
Omg thanks so much for talking about the amount of colours cos I just started a diamond painting and already have a lot of leftovers ❤
OMG - i love your kitting up method! i've been trying to figure that out for myself (new at diamond painting - just completed my 4th project) - arranging by symbols makes perfect sense to me! thank you for the video :)
You are so welcome! Honestly I can't do it any other way now!
Great to see how you kit up and down. I’m getting really annoyed with dmc codes. It seems every company has a different shade. I have multiple colours of one dmc code!
Yes, differences in dye lots do happen... If mine are a shade off, I put them in the better slot for that color.
I've had a few colors like that too!
Is there a main DMC site or anything? I have one that gives a symbol and the color swatch, but does not include the DMC code😕
I have been only doing dp with one company and there are slightly different shades of one color due to dye lot differences.
Rearranging the order of the drills in the case was a complete game changer and SUCH a time saver. Thank you so much for the idea. I was keeping them in number order.
Glad it was helpful!

Yes. I have all the colors.
Hi Rachel, did you finish your wax experiment?
Yes, I'm editing that video for Thursday 😊
I usually have bags of leftover drills, so i just pore the leftover into a container, nearly half full after 5 dp
Hi Rachel . I am new in DP. I am working on my first DAC canvas . How the wheel tool get sticky? Is a special wax or some kind of tape?
It's a double sided tape you put on the wheel.
How do you store drills that don't come with a DMC number? I've run into this problem recently and don't know what to do with my extra drills.
Hi, do u keep each set in a new bag or if your have that color in the binder already do you combine them?
I do not combine them. Other crafters may do that, but I don't. Not yet, at least.
Can we talk about the intro so pretty the flowered every where what video editing software do you use
Thanks. I use PowerDirector
What number do you start with to add diamonds to you binder

Are the DMC codes the same on a lot of diamond paintings?
hey, were did you get your binder and the slots in it from? i would love to use that system
