Thank you for doing this. Seeing that the free wax is comparable to some of the paid waxes means that I'll just keep using the free stuff. I like that it runs out after a while (although, I can upwards of 3 hours from mine). Refilling forces me to move around a little and change my focal points....and look at the clock. Placing drills is so hypnotic - I need to be stopped!! And am I the only one who doesn't like multi-placers? It takes me longer to corrrect the drill placements than if I just placed them one at a time. Plus I'm not doing a speed run.....a picture takes as long as it takes.
Yeah, I was against multi placers but I have a small 3 placer that im playing around with, kinda like it and getting the hang of it now. Still just as satisfying.
I thought I was using the wax wrong, or pressing to hard! I just started a month ago with Diamond Painting and I also have to refill every 10 to 15 minutes! On youtube videos they say, they can do 3 paintings with the first wax, there's no way I can do that!! 😱
I'm so impressed that you got three whole hours from the heart shaped wax! My wax must be a bit older--some times I have to scrape out and refill in 15 minutes.
I started using blue tack on my first diamond painting so I spoiled myself without even knowing it. I love love PaddyWaxx because of the great scents, but if I'm planning a long sit down I just go for blue tack.
My goodness girl, you are dedicated! Your time and effort are certainly appreciated. I watched the whole thing. I will be searching the shops for Blu Tack.
I feel like if i got paddywax i would probably have to fight the intense urge to eat it 😶😶 these little blocks look like pieces of pie plus the yummy scent
Thank you for spending all the hours you’ve put in to this 🙏🏻 I’ve used bluetac practically since I started DP 2 years ago bought a pack for around €2 and you can harly see I’ve used any. I would never spend money anything else simply because I am so happy with using what I’ve got. When doing DP it is very easy to fall into a rabbit hole of various assecories and end up wasting your money on things that you end up not using or don’t like. That is why it is much apprciatet when you do this kind of video
This is very interesting 🤔 I thought you were gonna have to change your canvas, especially after the blutak attack 😂 Thank you for sharing this experience 🙂 hope you had fun making this! I definitely enjoyed watching 😊
Having worked with tweezers and very tiny components for decades now, I find my tweezers work so much easier for me. I can place square drills very neatly. Saved a small fortune on fancy pens too!
I can't seem to grab the drills with the tweezers to place them. So I use it after shaking the tray to flip over the ones that don't lay right. I can never get nice clean rows od drills without using tweezers.
I appreciate all the time you took to do this video. This is such nice information to have as a new diamond painter. I will still be trying different waxes as I go :)
I’ve been waiting on this one. I’m amazed at how long these lasted. I must be really heavy handed because I’m lucky to get 20 mins out of any of these waxes. I’ve tried them all but the blue tack and got no where near the same results as you. Maybe I should try to lay the drills easier I guess. Thanks for doing this.
I am just using the free pens -the ones that look like a drink straw. I must be doing something wrong because I have to reload every 15 minutes. 🙀🤷🏻♀️ So far I have used the free transparent wax, Diamond Dotz, and blue tack. The blue tack stuck so bad that I gave up. The free transparent one left little strings often. The best for me was DD. No stringy pieces all over the place! I’m not a stabber, but it is warm here.
That is how I am with the Paddy wax and PaddywaxSS in the single placer and the blue tack. But the regular paddywax helps me be able to multi place more than 2 reloads of diamonds.
I cannot believe the cheap wax which is what I use has lasted so long for you!! I can only get it to last for 10-20 minutes! I am a basically a beginner though so maybe I'm doing something wrong? I do usually only "dip" in once, so I will do it multiple times next time I take back up my painting. I am also applauding your stamina! 3 hours! Wowzers!
I am just like you. I am pretty much a beginner (I have only completed 3 smaller paintings) but the last painting I did, I was literally picking up more wax like every 5 minutes. I have no idea what I was doing wrong. And I’ve never had it last more than 10 minutes before changing. Can’t believe it lasted over an hour for her.
I have some blue poster putty from the Duck brand. I'm going to try that, because I don't seem to notice any difference in how long it lasts whether I use pink wax or paddywaxx, although Paddywaxx is great for ABs. Hopefully the poster putty will work longer for me. I wonder how the clear wax and blue wax differ. To me, the Not Your Momma's Mud looks like the regular pink wax, just mashed up and mixed with a scent.
I am new to Diamond Painting, just finished my first-Willow by DAC. I love watching your videos; so many tips and information-plus you have a nice calm voice. 😌 Thank you for taking the time to do this test and let us know your results. The playlist was so great too!
Thank you so much for for taking those massive amount of hours to compare these. I’m a beginner and trying to soak up all the information I can. I love your channel with how you put everything together and the information you give us. Thanks again.
I was looking forward to this video all week. I knew it would take awhile because the blue tack would last a long time! I use 3M Sticky Tack which is essentially the same thing as blue tack. It lasts for days!
Thank you soooo much for this video, it is super helpful! I am new to diamond painting and watching this video allows me to skip all the trial and error and just get the good stuff, giving me more time to enjoy the craft. Invaluable!
Thank you for all the information! I just finished my first diamond painting and love it. But I have to reload the pen every five to ten minutes. Will be investigating other waxes.
I have this problem too. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong! I love the scents of PaddyWaxx but I’m still having to load every 15-20 minutes. I’m not heavy handed either. I really wish I knew what I’m doing wrong!
Just started my first diamond painting today. I couldn't stop... I've been watching videos to gather experienced folk's ideas and suggestions. Thank you, Rachel for putting this video together. I am using what came in the pack and it seems like I am refilling with wax every 20 minutes. Will try the bluetack next. New subscriber too!!! Would love to know how many hours it takes you to finish different size painting. I prefer placing the drills in one by one. Takes me too long to master the multiplacers. Trying the square next time. They look easier. Hugs from SC.
When I get to the point when then won't pick up a drill I slide it between the ridges with the pen toward the prow of the boat and it builds up enough static that it sticks to the pen and I can place it without putting an more wax in the pen! This is only helpful when only a few drills are needed to finish a symbol. As a test I tried it without wax for quite a while and it works! I didn't run a timed test like you did, and I'll be looking for Bluetak when the governor lets us shop again. Thanks,
I love your channel i watch you every day i recently got a diamond painting and im already half way done its turning out great what is the best wax to use
GREAT VIDEO 👍 I was just wondering what wax worked for the longest amount of time. I'm still new to the diamond painting process and found the pink wax that comes with the kit frustrating and was having to reload my pen every half hour and thought I was just doing something wrong. After watching a few tutorials I found several people mentioned using the Blue Tack and said it was a MUST HAVE for diamond painting and saved so much time not having to reload your pen nearly as often. I ordered some for 5 dollars on Amazon and it works great and it only takes a little and will probably last me forever! So I definitely agree with your results 👍 👍. I will definitely recommend your video for beginners or anyone who is debating on what type of wax works best for diamond art. Happy Painting!!
I love blu tac... I've filled my pen tips over a week ago and have done about 30+ hours and still feels like i just put it in. That's my recommendation for the wax substitute. But if you have issues you can pull it out mold it back into the full head and use the same piece. It's harder to fill multiplacers with it but i recommend pressing it on your finger a few times to prevent it from leaving the blu tac on placed drills. I've never had an issue with any of those issues that I've seen others had using it.
It's Thursday....I think we all have lost track of what day it is! You said it's Friday! Thank you for this video.....I didn't know there were so many options! I had no idea the wax lasted that long!!!!!
You must have a lighter HSBC when placing drills because the darker pink wax last me not even an hour lol. But I've ordered so many kits I have tons of them
Hi Rachel, I started using glue dots and they are amazing. I can do a medium size painting with just 1 dot! But thanks for this video, I will try the blue tac and the DAC wax too! Love from the Netherlands!
I loved this video tremendously. First off, thank you for the time it took to record this. What helpful information. Secondly, great music choice and beautiful dping for this experiment.
Hi Rachel! Thank you so much for doing this video! It was nice to see the time comparisons between the different types of waxes and how long they would last in each pen. I definitely learned something new from you doing this experiment! Thank you again ❤
Glad you enjoyed it! I remember how long it took 🤣 and I was so nervous, but I'm glad it helps. I know people in different climates might have different results 💜💜
I find that the really glittery drills found in the Diamond Dotz kits are hard to pick up with my ergonomic stylus pen, so I have to use the plastic pen supplied in the kit to pick them up. What I do to help the pen pick up the drills is swirl each drill around with the pen tip in a little circle in the boat tray to help it stick to the pen tip. This usually works every time for me. Hope my drilling tip helps someone who has fallen in love with this hugely therapeutic hobby! 🥰
Thank you so much for doing this video,i am brand new to diamond painting and you saved me alot of frustration. Love all your video's i have been binge watching lol trying to learn. I will be going with blue tac. Thanks again
I really prefer blue tac, which I've been using for awhile. I do use the white tac because I have gotten some of the blue tac on my painting and didn't come up. I use the white because if this does happen, I use a similar color marker to camouflage it. I love all of your pens, they are so pretty. I also enjoy the smell of P.W. So much thanks to you for your demonstration.
I am so glad I saw you doing that painting I would never have gotten it cause I don't like the photo but your painting is so much more than beautiful. I WILL BE GETTING THIS.
I gave up on both the Paddywaxx and the Mudd because of the amount of residue. BUT...I'm in Florida. It is hot and humid here, and I diamond paint in front of a big window. I think both of those might be really temperature sensitive. I ordered the white, yellow, and blue wax from AliExpress and have been really happy with the blue version. But I also have to admit that I have wondered if that is all in my head. :)
Brilliant, thank you for doing this experiment. I use blue tack and the diamond art club which ever one the dogs haven't eaten, seriously. Again thank you your a star xxx
Thanks so much for all the time and effort for this video. I love multiplacers as well, even if it’s a 2-box, I’ll still use a multiplacer, so I understand that it must be sooooo hard to single place so much. On another note, I’m in a hot and humid country and paddy waxx is not really working as great as pink wax for me. Have watched all the videos and all, tried in rounds, squares etc... but hey, it was worth to try it out. At least it smells good! Hahaha. Also, I never knew there was a difference in the light and dark pink wax... I’ve thrown the light ones out after watching this. 😂 thanks again!
Recently bought paddywaxx and while it does leave a residue I love the smell. I tried a baby wipe to see if I could get the residue off and it works so well! Y'all get some cheap baby wipes they work wonders!
Thank you for doing this video. I personally prefer the blu tac for single placing and Paddywaxx for my multiplacers. I also use the wheel which uses double sided tape for large color blocking areas.🌹💕💐
Thank you for this Rachel, you put so much work into this 🌸 I will def try out blue tack. In Denmark blue tack is called Elephant snot 🐘🤧 or the teachers chewinggum 😆
I love blu tack.. I found a white one in ikea.. It's awesome ☺️💕 great for multiplacers also.. Might try putting it in jar with with some perfumes or oils on a tissue. (Not touching it obviously lol).
Thank you!!! I am a huge fan of yours. I just recently completed a 35 x 45 with two blue tac fills 😀 I think it's safe to say that I have a life time supply with the one package that I bought off of Amazon.
This is amazing! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. Glue tack is best but definitely will get paddywaxx for collection. I am keeping an eye on her shop :)
Thank you so much for doing this video Rachel. I have the sspwax and it doesn't tend to last as long and I get quite a bit of residue. I do like the sticky if it.
I haven’t chosen my first painting yet and it is so great that I have this video to start off on the right foot. Thank you for taking the time to do this!
Rachel that was really cool I really enjoyed watching the painting you were working on come to life! 💕 I like the time laps videos and music I would like to see more of those. Also the different waxes was pretty cool too I love the Paddy wax it does smell so good its refressing and relaxing! Thank you for your time you put in for this experiment and advice.💕😀🎉
Awesome, awesome video!! Thank you for taking the time to put this together!!! I go back and forth SO much! I have a love/hate relationship with my Paddy Waxx and PWSS. I love it the first several minutes I use it, even though it does leave a residue unless I stay very light handed the first little while. But then I feel like it's like BOOM. Have to change too quickly. I love that POP with each drill placed! Super satisfying!! I also love that she has a Free and Clear version of the regular paddy waxx! Then I can scent as I like with my own essential oils. I will say the product that I use that lasts the longest for me, is the Aleene's Instant Tacky. Which I think is essentially the same kinda stuff as the blue tak! It can be a bit stringy at times though, but never really leaves any residue.
This was a great video I have subscribed, I have never tried diamond painting before but a friend of mine from school (MANY MANY MANY years ago that was haha) did a twilight diamond painting, never even heard of diamond paintings but it was STUNNING, and now i am SUPER kean to try one myself :D :D
I've literally just started diamond painting and was surprised/disappointed at how quickly the free wax dried up in my pen, I thought I was doing something wrong but watching this makes me feel reassured. Local stationary shop is my next stop 😆
Your experiment for us or was excellent. Your explanations were great. And your music made me want to listen to your video all the way through as I was diamond painting too. The Paddy wax makes me think of it this way. Sometimes a product is made so it more appealing if it smells good looks good feels good so your focus is on that and not the quality of the product. I know you cannot say this but I’m thinking that’s what the hype is all about anyway the scent of the Paddy wax. Because you hear about people grabbing it so quickly you are persuaded to want to get some even though they don’t talk about the quality of the product. But I certainly want to try the blue tack. the cheap wax that is low grade doesn’t even last for a half hour with me and I’m light with my pens.
I love using my Paddywaxx. I don't want anyone to misinterpret that. If you choose not to buy or use it, that's your choice. I'll keep using it but this is a video to show how they work. 😊
Thank you for showing the results for Blu Tack! I used that from my very first kit because of videos I saw before I dove in to this addiction. I love it for everything except some AB drills, DAC's especially, as it will pull some of the AB coating off. Oddly, it doesn't seem to do this to the Diamond Dotz AB's, though. I have also just gotten Scotch Removable Putty, which I haven't tried yet, & Duck Removable Putty, which I tried just a bit & like, But haven't tried yet on AB's. These 2 were both really inexpensive on Amazon. That's my 2 cents. I hope your viewers can use this information. Thanks again and happy diamond painting!
Thanks for soldiering through all those. I have seen some people mention using glue dots from scrapbooking and a product called museum gel. The museum gel looks interesting as it is clear so any residue would be clear. I use blue tack now but may check out museum gel soon.
Interesting. I always use the wax that comes with the kits (aka pink) but find that summer in Florida, even with a/c, makes it a tad gooey. I got blue wax in a kit once and it worked so much cleaner. Wish I knew where to get more. I'd ditch the pink for it
Hey Rachel! This was an awesome video! I cant believe that Blue Tac lasted so long! 😱😱 I am a total stabber and very heavy handed. I am only using Robyn’s Super Sticky Paddy Waxx! YYYYAAAAAAASS!!!!! Hope you have a great weekend! 😊❤️😊❤️
I use the 3, 4, and 6 multiplacers. After that you really need to go slow.
Yeah, I was against multi placers but I have a small 3 placer that im playing around with, kinda like it and getting the hang of it now. Still just as satisfying.
I've found the 4 Placer is my sweet spot , although alot of times I do just single place when I could be using it
I'm not a fan of multi-placers because it takes so long to get the drills right-side-up so I can grab enough to fill my multi-placer.
I'm not a multi placer fan. I like to place each individual drill with precision the first time. 😊
well I must be doing something wrong - I have to reload wax probably every 10 minutes! I don't even press hard. lol
Me too!
Same, no matter what i use
Do you empty the pen from your previous wax?
I found that it makes it much more easier since it’s fresh and new.
I thought I was using the wax wrong, or pressing to hard! I just started a month ago with Diamond Painting and I also have to refill every 10 to 15 minutes! On youtube videos they say, they can do 3 paintings with the first wax, there's no way I can do that!! 😱
Yes, I empty every time I refill.

You can simply get blue tack at Walmart
Wait a sec there r different waxes I've only got the starter ones the very first one which is transparent xD
Well don't worry, they perform better than the other crap people are trying to sell you.
Same 😅
I feel like if i got paddywax i would probably have to fight the intense urge to eat it 😶😶 these little blocks look like pieces of pie plus the yummy scent

Same for me. I think I need to try to put more product in my pen too.
Same for me!
I just purchased my first diamond painting from amazon! I’m so excited! Should be here Saturday.

I love that Diamond Art Club gives you heart shaped wax
Thank you for all this effort! Loved the video, she is gorgeous!! Can't wait to see Mad Kitty ready, glowing in the dark.
Can’t wait to get home to do my diamond painting today.
I have some blue poster putty from the Duck brand. I'm going to try that, because I don't seem to notice any difference in how long it lasts whether I use pink wax or paddywaxx, although Paddywaxx is great for ABs. Thank you so much for for taking those massive amount of hours to compare these. I’m a beginner and trying to soak up all the information I can. I love your channel with how you put everything together and the information you give us. Thanks again.
Glad to help!
Yay! I have been so excited to see this! I bet you are happy to be able to use a multiplacer again!
I am!
I was looking forward to this video all week. I knew it would take awhile because the blue tack would last a long time! I use 3M Sticky Tack which is essentially the same thing as blue tack. It lasts for days!
Thank you for the video. It was great. I also use the little round pots from diamond dotz. They last me longer than the DAC wax.
Thank you soooo much for this video, it is super helpful! I am new to diamond painting and watching this video allows me to skip all the trial and error and just get the good stuff, giving me more time to enjoy the craft. Invaluable!
Here doing my own painting and see the notification! Hi! I’m currently using the pink wax that comes with Diamond Dotz kits😊
I love using notcha mama's wax, havent had 1 problem with it. Paddy waxx reg & ss always leaves residue on the drills
Thank you for all the information! I just finished my first diamond painting and love it. But I have to reload the pen every five to ten minutes. Will be investigating other waxes.
I have this problem
Have you found something that works
I have this problem too. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong! I love the scents of PaddyWaxx but I’m still having to load every 15-20 minutes. I’m not heavy handed either. I really wish I knew what I’m doing wrong!
thank you so much Rachel for taking the time to do this!!! Was so helpful!!
so impressed you did that in 24 hours of single placing
I'm a single placer weirdo cause when I started I didn't have any multiplacers. For me it's relaxing I think
Just started my first diamond painting today. I couldn't stop... I've been watching videos to gather experienced folk's ideas and suggestions. Thank you, Rachel for putting this video together. Thank you for sharing your honest opinion on each of these - as a newbie I appreciate all your in progress comments as well as your experiences.

That's a great tip I'm going to try! Thank yo for sharing!
I’ve been using glue dots and it’s lasted me a week with 5 hours a day! And still haven’t replaced it
I love your channel i watch you every day i recently got a diamond painting and im already half way done its turning out great what is the best wax to use

I just about died when Luna came in too cute!
Always love the information you give on your videos. As I am fairly new to diamond painting. Thank you again for the tips and tricks of the hobby!!
Wow! Thanks!! Some of these surprised me. Thanks for your time to educate us. 🥰❤️❤️
You are so welcome!

Hi Rachel, I started using glue dots and they are amazing. I can do a medium size painting with just 1 dot! But thanks for this video, I will try the blue tac and the DAC wax too! Love from the Netherlands!
I'd love to see this challenge with multiplacers. Does Blu Tack work in multiplacers???
Quakehold museum putty does, so I would think blu tak would as well.
Probably, but I haven't tested it yet!
Yes I have used it before and it works really well. Since then I have moved away from multi placers but yes, it does work
Your experiment reflected the results I've had at home.
I loved this video tremendously. First off, thank you for the time it took to record this. What helpful information. Secondly, great music choice and beautiful dping for this experiment.

Blue tack is what I have used the last year for DP and yes, it's super:-) (in my opinion)
What an awesome video Rachel! Thank you so much for all of the time you spent on this 😍💗🌸
Glad you liked it!!
My you worked so hard on this video. So many hours and days. Thank you so much.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’m a Blue Tacker too!! Thanks for this experiment, Rachel!
What a great video!!! Thank you for taking the time to test the different waxes....Loved the info
I was about to give uo with my diamond painting, but you gave me more inspiration. Thank you🥰
Great video! Tons of needed information. Thank you Rachel!
I’ve been waiting so long this video! Lol so glad it’s finally here.
Again thank you your a star xxx
kim ballard: 😹😹😹 The dogs!!
Thank you for taking me be for the team!! 👍🏽🙌🏽
This is very informative, thanks 😊 for taking the time to show us your followers.
You have no idea how much I have looked forward to this video! Thank you for all of your hard work! You are amazing.
Wow, thank you!
Thank you for your hard work! Your pens are beautyfull, like the shape.
Always look your video's.
Warm greetings from the Netherlands.

Recently bought paddywaxx and while it does leave a residue I love the smell. I tried a baby wipe to see if I could get the residue off and it works so well! Y'all get some cheap baby wipes they work wonders!
Wow! Never thought of wipes! Thank you!
Thanks! This helps. I've just finished a painting and have a bit of Paddywaxx residue left.
Thanks for sharing!! That's hilarious xD
I love blu tack.. I found a white one in ikea.. It's awesome ☺️💕 great for multiplacers also.. Might try putting it in jar with with some perfumes or oils on a tissue. (Not touching it obviously lol).
Great video ❤️ thank you I know it take a long time to film a video like this, so ya I bought some blue tac on amazon today lol
That is awesome! I hope it works well for you :)
Thank you!!! I am a huge fan of yours. I just recently completed a 35 x 45 with two blue tac fills 😀 I think it's safe to say that I have a life time supply with the one package that I bought off of Amazon.
Thanks so much, I am brand new and of course want all of the stuff so thanks for showing me blu tac is worth the money to use .
This is amazing! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. Glue tack is best but definitely will get paddywaxx for collection. I am keeping an eye on her shop :)
I can get days of use out of BlueTac! Love it.....but that scented paddywaxx is amazing!
Glad it was helpful!
I do love using the blue tack still trying to get used to loading it in the pen though
I just stab it!
Thank you so much!
Great video! Thank you for taking the time to do this. Very informative.
Oh wow… I didn’t realize that this was possible because I have to refill much sooner so I must be over pressing… thank you for doing this
Thank you so much for testing the wax
Great testing and so dedicated on bringing us the best of the bests.. Thanks
OMG you are a trooper! So excited to see the battle
Great video. I wish I could get the Blue Tack to try. Thank you.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR DOING THIS EXPERIMENT, VERY HELPFUL.
Thanks for the info!
Id love to see another update video with Blu tac vs glue dots vs quake hold!
Interesting. I always use the wax that comes with the kits (aka pink) but find that summer in Florida, even with a/c, makes it a tad gooey. I got blue wax in a kit once and it worked so much cleaner. Wish I knew where to get more. I'd ditch the pink for it
Amazon
You did a great job testing the waxes. Keep up the good work.
Thank you! Cheers!
Hey Rachel! This was an awesome video! I cant believe that Blue Tac lasted so long! 😱😱
I am a total stabber and very heavy handed. I am only using Robyn’s Super Sticky Paddy Waxx! YYYYAAAAAAASS!!!!!
Hope you have a great weekend! 😊❤️😊❤️
