The reveal that 2B was a Type E should have happened at the end of the anime ngl. The game did a great job foreshadowing it and developed 2B's relationship with 9S further by revealing her cold and stern nature was her way of protecting 9S the entire time.
I’m so glad they added this in the anime. I read the short stories after I played the game and am glad they added that here. It’s so tragic, and we didn’t get to clearly see this in the game.

Then finds Kaine and falls for her, but never confesses. Ends up having to petrify her, and in attempt to gain power to restore her, loses his body and gains that creepy face. Then sacrifices himself in the end of NieR Replicant, but survives anyhoo. Years later, aliens invade, and in attempt to fight them creates an army of clones. But more clones he created, the more memories he lost. In the end he practically has no memory even a few of his own powers. In this scene that is one of the last remaining clone. The original might even be dead. This clone is trying to reconstruct the memories. He even recreates Kaine's shack under a shopping mall, and fills it with lunar tears as they were her favorite. Man really tries to hold to what sliver of happiness remains, even through 8000 years of absolute tragedy.

I am more suprised that 9S knew she kept killing him over and over.... and he still being nice to her. I read somewhere that he even killed himself to spare 2B as she wanted to commit suicide because she could no longer wanted to continue. But he told her to promised him she would keep killing him.... So Yorha woudnt punish her for breaking orders. But yeah, its still not an excuse. I cant image killing someone i care 40+ and get away with it.
