I changed out my battery today with the help of your video. I have an iPhone SE 2020. The disassembly is a bit different for my phone. The button circuit connector attached to the right side of the motherboard along with two other circuit connectors. The display opens like a book unlike the one in your video. I just went very slowly when opening the case and could see the connector setup. I found that using a microwave heat up sore muscle neck pad was great for softening the case prior to separating the case halves. I also used it to soften the adhesive strips of the battery. I ended up using it again to facilitate battery removal as you demonstrated at 4:35 seconds of your video. I totally appreciate you taking the time to show the way. Apple does NOT want customers working on their phones. I have a bit of experience with electronic systems so this was not beyond me. Thanks Gribsoft for do this service for us.

That was a great pro tip you gave in your comment. I used a gel pad that could be warmed up in the microwave and then laid the battery area of the phone on it for a minute to warm it to make the adhesive strips release the battery easier. I did ssomething similar with the edge adhesive rather than use a hair dryer. You both “ROCK”! 🥀🕊

I did it! Had to heat the case to get battery out. All the parts are really tiny. I have MS, but still pulled off the replacement myself. My eye to hand coordination has really gone downhill, but I feel really good saving the money. My SE is only worth about $30 as a trade in, so nothing to lose in trying.😃

This is the best video for replacing the battery. All the steps were really straightforward. The only part I struggled with was putting the shield back on the last ribbon cable for the home button. Even the old battery came out relatively easily.

EXCELLENT TUTORIAL. Took me about 1.5 hours because I did it slowly. DO NOT RUSH THIS JOB. Take extra time and do it slowly and methodically. Worked perfectly. If you rush, you will lose the teeny tiny itty bitty screws. Wear powerful reading glasses for magnification.

This works on OEM tape, but I just tried to removed a replacement battery and the adhesive just broke constantly. Gave up and used heat and fishing line. Finally got it out. PITA, next time it fails, I'm buying an iPhone 15, and when that fails, I'll buy an iPhone 21.

The battery cable should be disconnected first when disassembling and also connected last when assembling to ensure there is no power running through the PCB during the replacement process. The home button and touch id cable is an exception.

Very very useful - many thanks. I wound the adhesive round the body of the sponger tool...wind, pause, wind, pause etc which controlled the angle so no snaps and came out whole (without any heating). Replacement did not come with tape but had some double sided tape in the house. While I was in there i removed dust from the read camera lens- a job I had previously avoided but all the hard work had been done so I strongly recommend.

Make sure the battery is fully or nearly discharged before removing it. Don't use a metal tool to reattach the component connections. Other than that I found it helpful. Thank you. I watch 6 or seven videos on battery replacement before doing it my self. I've done a battery on Iphone 4, 4s and 5s soon I gotta do my SE.

Oh god getting that battery out without a hairdryer was hell. I had to heat up a knife and place it against the back of the case. I think I was lucky I didn't damage any of the circuitry with the way the case conducted the heat. The battery was mutilated too by the time I was able to pry it out, lucky it didn't blow up/catch fire although it was less than probably .5% capacity. Overall a smashing success although I dont think I'd try it on an expensive phone. Great guide, thankyou!

Very clear video, with lots of useful info for the sequence and orientation of parts. Wish everyone would leave out the annoying music though. Personally, I don't think you need to detach the screen cables But DO remove the 4 screw shield to releave the cable strees. Support it by taping to a food can with some low tack tap to avoid ripping the cables ( a tip shown by others)

There's so much wrong with this video like manhandling the battery & bending it which is risky to explode, disconnecting the screen before disconnecting the battery.
Wonder what happens with this device in near couple of months.
There are many better videos you can learn the safe way of doing it -

Honestly this is the strongest battery I've seen 🤣 And the adhesives tore apart cause he was pulling them a bit vertically and he was rushing. Its a gentle process which needs to be done as horizontally as possible and very very slow.

You don't technically have to but the reason to do it is the ribbon cables are very fragile and easy to tear. If you tear one while trying to leverage your battery out now you have a busted screen and need to order that. It is just being safe.

If you remove it like that then there’s high risk of puncturing the battery which will cause it to ignite. There are white pull tabs at the bottom of the battery, you should pull those out and the battery will slip right out.
